man i think u done a wrong installation procedure bcz i think that windows vitsa does not install in win xp it required clean installation man i suggest to clean ur drive where u install Windows VISTA than it will be ok if u want to use windows XP but if u wish to install windows vita beta version first format ur c drive where u want to install windows vista format it in NTFS then install vista this wil be work hope useful information i give to u
or man if u want to use windows xp and want to lead windows xp and remove windows vista then do this System\advanced \startup and recovery\and select windows xp then it will run windows xp first not windows vista
"[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect"
and this is the winxp boot text and above anything written is the winvista try to delete them then it will be ok but first creat a restore point.
its a difficult solution but i recommand to u repair ur winxp this will be work ur hardisk use space is back and ur all the error gone and winxp start first and use system restore this will also work .
gt_thegame 4th April 2006, 19:40 this did not work for me RKOHHH... i did as u said but in the boot i still had the option of windows vista and also the disc still has vista(partial) n it.... i did not try to load vista on xp but tried to sweep install it on another disc... any other suggestions??
em1n3m 6th April 2006, 18:13 my suggestion: If u have a partition , copy all ur wanted files from ur Vista drive.
Boot ur windows XP sp 2 cd via cd rom, then the installer will prompt u because it detect a os , ignore it and select clean installation ( by pressing esc ), then select the drive ( assuming its C:\) then select format via NTFS or FAT. Wait for the install to complete. Then u r done.

gt_thegame 16th April 2006, 01:41 look i have 1 drive having 2 partitions... i formatted the drive in which vista was partially installed... that got me back the space vista was eating up... but the boot still shows 2 options xp and vista... i want to remove vista from there as well so that windows xp automatically boots up...
noban 16th April 2006, 16:54 its easy to delete vista option..os boot info in MDR file.. follow this..
1. click c: drive (winxp os)
2.tools menu>>folder option>>>view>>>uncheck hide protected os files..
4.in main c: drive now u ll c a boot file.. open it..
5.keep a copy in safe place and now modify it
6.default for xp like this..its my xp boot..
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
7.delete vista option which ll be below this..
8.save it n restart..no more vista option...

em1n3m 16th April 2006, 19:08 look i have 1 drive having 2 partitions... i formatted the drive in which vista was partially installed... that got me back the space vista was eating up... but the boot still shows 2 options xp and vista... i want to remove vista from there as well so that windows xp automatically boots up...
Then it seems that u haven`t completely uninstall vista. U can use noban tips or jz try format the Other partition, make a backup of ur wanted files. noban tips seems really risky
WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional -> r u using THIS windows version now?
candccom 18th April 2006, 09:10 Ya, in this the most appropirate way is backup all your file using external drive and format both partition. If not, even you dont see the option, but there is still vista system file in your xp system (eventhough you formatted partition d.
m4ff3w 2nd May 2006, 00:43 Vista uses it's own boot loader, editing the boot.ini will not help.
Boot from the WinXP cd. Press "R" to launch the repair console. then type "fixmbr" and then "fixboot"
Cho :) 21st May 2006, 03:40 Save your data to other disk and fresh install windows version you want :)
NieFeng 13th June 2006, 10:22 I thought noban method should work? Anyway, never never try Windows Vista Beta 1, it is highly incompatible with a lot of hardware. I know because I have been trying out all sorts of Vista build right from Beta 1. I believe Beta 2 should be available now, try that out, that is a stable build. But if you want to try out and don't want to mess out your other OS, the only way is that you should have 2 harddisk. When installing Vista, remove your other harddisk. After you finished the Vista installation, put back your harddisk and use the BIOS boot menu to select which harddisk to boot from. This way is the cleanest, you won't have any issue.
