View Full Version : GTS box - HELP!
nokiaman6600 3rd May 2006, 09:24 OK firstly does this thing have instructions somewhere, a web page maybe?
Secondly, the HWK chip, I dont want to fry this thing! which way does it go? There is a socket in the back that the chip plugs into BUT it can plug in 2 different ways i.e. with pins up or pins down.
Also, what are those pins for?
Once this chip is installed does it NEED to be removed for some things or can it just be left plugged in all the time?
Any help would be greatly apprieciated, not only by me but everyone else with one of these with similar questions.
nokiaman6600 3rd May 2006, 10:30 Another question:
On each cable is a code, e.g. IP-GB NK6600
What does it all mean? I get that NK=Nokia and 6600 is the 6600 phone, but what does the IP-GB stand for? Is GB for Griffon box?
nokiaman6600 3rd May 2006, 10:41 Sorry to be a pain guys....
I have 2 wierd looking cables that you can plug another cable into, they have "UFS BB5 VPP" and "RJ45 8P8C" stickers on the bottom. What are these for?
1 . HWK must be pLugged pins down, i mean when u pLug the hwk correctLy it prevents LPT cabLe to be pLugged, and it can be Left pLugged... but if you want to use Griffin, so you have to pLug the LPT cabLe, then u have to take the hwk off for pLugging the LPT cabLe...
2 . "UFS BB5 VPP" cable is used with BB5 phones, first u pLug the "UFS BB5 VPP" cabLe and after u pLug the appropriate cabLe for the BB5 phone u want to do something with...

nokiaman6600 6th May 2006, 07:34 Thanks for the HWK info f471h, I would have guessed the other way around. I guess the HWK isn't for the Griffon. And also thanks for the info on the funny cable, but what are BB5 phones, (I dont mean to sound totally ignorant :P I'm just new to this)
Reynold, it may be that the griffon isn't compatible with that model whereas the nbox is, although I did find that when I tried the INFO or CHECK buttons with the nbox nokia program it gave me an error, but all other things worked fine. Maybe a programming error (hopefully :P). I am not sure where the compatibility list is. but if it works with the nbox why worry about the griffin.
