actually, tom tom allows you to see the map even when your are not connected to gps. you can even build itineraries and seem them on the map while, for example you are walking. i did it in rome a week ago. of course, without gps you cannot see where you are or have tom tom give you instructions :-)

If you mean TomTom mobile 5, it sounds good. But in the forum I only can
find an italian version and I'm german. English will be good too. Where can I get it? I already have 400MB of DE_AT_CH_PL_CZ-Map. Does it works?

Thx for answers.

Vito SmartMap is the best.
- Install it.
- Copy the map
- Enjoy it, (without any connection)

yes, me too!
who says vitomap works without GPS?
I am using 6630. No map gets loaded without GPS.

First, I was using a more than a 2MB Vito map file. It gave error: "Memory full". And no map loaded. I thought its coz of that.
Then I used around 700KB Vito map file. This time no memory full error.
But no map loaded bcoz I am not using GPS device.

I know Vito Map is excellent. There are maps of SO MANY countries.

Guyz, please support me. I have requested the author to release Vito Map viewer, to view the maps, without GPS.

Below is exactly, what I have requested. You may please request the same. More the requests, better the response will be.
Email to: support[at]vitoTechnology.com

And please guyz, dont just copy and paste the whole thing as it is. Put it differently. Try to add some more from your sides.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I am very much appreciated of the wide range of maps available for the product. But found problems and disadvantages of buying the product. So I want to give some ideas, and request features which most mobile phone users require and must be added to the software to increase its advantage of use.

These are the features which most Symbian Phone users require for VitoSmartMap:

1) There are many (more than 85%) mobile phone users, which I have met, without any GPS Device, therefore, will not have any use of buying Vito SmartMap, for them. If the software works without GPS device also, then it will be a very big advantage for non-GPS users, too.

2) RAM usage, by the software, must be lower, especially for Series60 phone-based users. In a series60 phone, the RAM is usually very small. As a result, when opening the file of any large map, the software is not able to load such a big file, so the program doesnot work.

Hope to see these changes soon, in a newer version.
Thank You!

You can get the default voice files for all languages from tomtoms site, go to the tomtom for mobiles page, select Plus Services from the top of the page then down the left hand side there is a section for voices. You need to register an account with them but once you have done that you can get the defult male and female voice for free.
