About Handy ZIP:

HandyZIP is a powerful file compression utility for symbian os devices. With HandyZIP you can view, extract and compress information in the popular ZIP format, thus saving memory, and significantly increasing the storage capacity of your phone and memory cards. Adding files and folders to a HandyZIP archive is as easy as copying and pasting items from File Explorer. You can even create new ZIP archives while on the road, and use them to send compact attachments with your e-mail, or to speed up synchronization with your Desktop PC. Keeping notes and documents in compressed format means that you can have more information with you, thus extending the effectiveness of your mobile device. With HandyZIP you can also encrypt your files or extract contents of any ZIP archive you download from the web, from newsgroups, or attached to your incoming e-mail. Furthermore, viewing and updating contents of a HandyZIP archive is as easy as a tap on your symbian screen. Thanks to its AutoUpdate feature, HandyZIP will automatically synchronize any modification you make while viewing compressed files, and reflect the changes to the ZIP archive. HandyZIP is fully compatible with all ZIP utilities running on your desktop PC.

Smart phones are getting more and more realistic in terms of their sheer power and capabilities..... to prove this point further Nokia insists in calling all its smartphones MOBILE COMPUTERS!!!

and as are Phones getting more apt with the technologies and features so are the services like GPRS/WAP/Wi-Fi etc so much so that most people and so i-Phone members use their phones to browse the internet and download files....

there was a time when i used to download Ngage games from my Nokia 6600 and unzip them (Blz format) and even succeeded in installing them on my phone WITHOUT USING MY PC... so dont under estimate these phones ;)

so i think that these above apps that will help you unzip and unrar(only Zipman features rar support) and would even let you create new archives....

So THIS Topic has been made STICKY!!!

Zipman used to work on my 6630 but today none of these compression applications work ! :( I don't wanna format my MMC.What do u think is wrong? :( I formatted my phone but it's the same...

shahmiBro
22nd May 2006, 09:21
@Spikydragn,when u download files from the net either using opera or netfront...use fileman & then go either to nf3downloads or opera folder...u can see downloaded file like this>attachment.php.Therefore,change the file's extension from .php either to .rar/.zip...after u do so then select the file & extract using the zipman.br

I have handy zip and have problems when compressing/extracting files larger than around 1.5MB OR compressing/extracting smaller files to/from an archive that in total is over around 1.5MB. I'm guessing this is a limitation due to my RAM (nokia n70) which is around 1831kB. Am I correct? If so do any of the other zip programs get around this limitation? I would like to archive many voice notes (.wav files) that are generally between 500k and 2MB each in one .zip file. (and maybe zip larger files as I keep films and tv shows on my 1GB mmc)

I am looking for the full version of ProfileMail that support for N72, would someone post it here.

Thanks for support.

First of all, this is not the right thread to ask for ProfiMail. This thread concerns with compression managers (archivers). Second, SEARCH before requesting. N72 is a whole lot like the N70, so basically everything that works on the N70 works on N72. So search for ProfiMail, I can assure you it's very easy to find it.
