The Opera Internet Browser
It is really impressive. I''ve been playing with it for a while now, and the browsing experience is unsurpassed on smartphones. This is a killer app if ever there was one.
- Rafe Blanchard, Editor, All About Symbian
Opera is a full Internet browser, which provides you with access to all your favorite Web sites. The Opera browser for Series 60 is based upon the same browser engine as Opera''s widely used desktop browser, delivering Web capabilities unlike anything previously available on handheld devices. Opera is user-friendly, secure, and exceptionally fast. The browser is small, yet full-featured.
Features
Opera for Series 60 includes Opera''s exclusive breakthrough technology, Small-Screen Rendering™ (SSR), which reformats Web pages to fit the smaller mobile screens. More information about SSR is available at ww*.opera[dot]com
Opera offers all the features expected of a full Internet browser. Among the many advanced features we find keypad shortcuts, toggling images , bookmarks, history list, and refuse pop-up windows.
Standards support
Opera supports the latest standards including HTML 4.01, ECMA Script-262 2nd & 3rd ed., JavaScript 1.5, XHTML 1.0/1.1, XHTML Basic, XHTML MP, CSS 1 & 2, CSS MP, WML 1.3, WCSS, cHTML, HTTP 1.0 & 1.1, SSL 3/TLS 1.0 and Unicode (UTF-16).
Opera 8 for Symbian Series 60 phones, 8.00
Opera 8 for series 60 phones is designed for speed and usability, and it is based on the latest technology from the Opera 8 desktop browser. While lower-level phone browsers offer only WAP browsing, the Opera mobile browser gives you the power to navigate Web sites that are not designed with mobile devices in mind, including complex Web applications with advanced features.

Based on the latest core rendering engine
Browsing on a mobile device should not lessen the Internet experience. The mobile browser is based on the latest technology found in the desktop versions of Opera 8, with extensive Web standards support. For you, this means you will get access to more pages than ever before from your mobile. Read more about specifications supported in Opera 8 for Series 60.
Improved Small Screen Rendering
After introducing Small-Screen Rendering (SSR) in 2002 to reformat Web pages to small screens, Opera has continued development to make the Web fit your handheld device. The latest Opera 8 features Color Small-Screen Rendering (CSSR), which allows you to keep more of the original site design and layout than the previous version. Select "Speed" mode over "Quality" to get more basic page rendering which is approximately 25% faster.
Speed
Opera 8 has significantly improved performance, particularly with 3G-enabled phones. On slower networks we recommend using our Mobile Accelerator to get faster speeds and smaller data transfers. If you have a 3G-enabled phone, such as Nokia 6630 or 6680, you will have a browsing experience with Opera 8 not previously seen on mobile phones.
What's new in Opera 8 :
* Faster exit than previous versions
* Padlock icon displayed on secure Web sites
Compatibility :
This Opera version runs only on Symbian OS 7.0 and higher. It will not work on older Symbian 6.1 handsets, such as 7650, 3650, N-Gage, SX1, and Sendo X.
new version opera web browser 8.0 allows users to browse html internet inc. Sites like this using their s60 mobile phone. This particular version is for nokia s60 Os.7 and Os.8 nokia 6630 (see other topic for full 6680 version). To get version 8.0 full version use option 1: install opera trial version 8.0, start opera app then close it . Paste crack files into e\system\data (close filemanager...) and re-boot phone. re-start opera app . Should now be full version. If for some reason that fails then use option 2: install the opera 6630 v.6.20 trial version(suitable for all os.7/6630) and then copy crack files into e\system\data . .once full v.6.20 is confirmed simply install new version 8.0 and Enjoy :-) Have tested and confirm that it works for 3230,6600,7610,6630 etc (option 1 works but if problems then option 2 definate as opera 8.0 is free upgrade to all users of full version 6.2 :-)... Br, dmoe 8)
Dmoe 19th July 2005, 04:00 want faster web browsing ? Considerably lower gprs bills ? outkasted 5th May 2006, 18:19 A new version of a popular browser for Symbian Series 60 has been released under the number 8 and is intended for Symbian OS 7.0 and higher. It doesn't work with the operating systems of the previous generation (Nokia 7650, 3650, N-Gage, Siemens SX1, and Sendo X). The program is build on Opera 8 for desktop and is SSR-compatible (Small-Screen Rendering). The main goal is internet surfing in GPRS networks. Not recommended for 3G networks.
http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/892/pic16kw.jpg http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/1118/pic22fr.jpg
All the innovations can be conditionally divided into two classes. The first one includes user interface. The manufacturers tried simplifying address entering and navigation along the network the most.
http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/4521/pic31ar.jpg http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/8572/pic43ja.jpg
http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/6519/pic57be.jpg http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/8237/pic65lp.jpg
The main menu of the program is represented with bookmarks like Open", "Navigation", "Display", "Tools" and "Settings". "Hot" buttons are foreseen for the most frequently used functions. We'll consider entering www.mobile-review.com from the "Open" line as an example. The "1" button opens an address line with a default prefix www preset. Down deviation of the cursor allows quickly change it for wap. Domain names like ".com", ".net" and ".org" are available for fast input at once. Moving the joystick up, you'll access a list with visited addresses, which is also available from the history file. So, only a central part of the name is to enter (only if you haven't still visited the resource before). Here in this menu item you can open a bookmark menu (button "2"), a home page ("4") and a history file. The next tab is devoted to navigation exclusively. Fast access to the item is available only for adding a new bookmark ("7") or setting a tag (button "3" to set a mark, "6" to transfer to the next mark). While surfing, you can opt not to download pictures at all. A full-screen page view is considerably reworked ("Display" line). With full-screen on the picture fills the whole display including a service bar.
The "Tools" bookmark allows search access (hot button "9"). A default search service is www.google.com. Here you can also search along the page, upload a file, send a line via SMS, MMS or е-mail, and access the page info. You can also empty cache and delete cookies.
The settings menu holds screen settings (java-scripts on/off, pop-up window blocking, rendering conditions - quality or speed), the main connection settings (selecting an access point, the way to move along the text, suffixes and prefixes). You can edit the list of suffixes and prefixes, and added entries appear in fast input options. Expanded options allow turning the mobile accelerator on. This extra chargeable option is a very curious thing! It helps economizing traffic by caching pages on a special server. You can adjust cache size (little - 0.5 MB, medium - 1 MB, big - 2 MB). Working with cookies is organized well. You can allows or forbid them directly from the settings menu.
The engine is considerably reworked and optimized for faster page upload. And the navigation along the uploaded page has been improved. The joystick is endowed with the main role while moving along the page.
Any joystick deviation will activate the next link, which is highlighted at the same time. While uploading pictures are scaled automatically and displayed properly. A question about making a site version available for viewing from a PDA was brought out on the forum, and that's why I'll note you'll have no problem with viewing via this browser.
Uploaded files can be stored in Nokia folder on disk C or any folder on your memory card. At an attempt of downloading an unsupported format, you'll get an alert, however it'll influence downloading in no way. You can set a current page (from the previous session), the browser's start page (www.opera.com is set by default) or own one as a start page.
A considerable engine modification is the second significant change in the program.
Back and reload are added, ECMAS scripts are fully supported. Added WML 1.3 and 2.0, HTML 4.01, CSS2 encryption protocol, inquiry protocol XmlHttp, dynamical HTML. Streaming formats rm and 3gp are supported and played back with a usual real-player. Also added mailto reply function. A multipage off-line manual comes in addition.
And in conclusion several words about an RSS news line. Many sites have included this news format. Though realization on many sites still leaves much to desire.
this app is an indispensible tool for mobile browsing and now as and upgrade to 8.6 is available the early contenders from the Nseries phones can even use this browser
outkasted 5th May 2006, 18:29 Opera Software, world-leading developer of Web browsing technologies, has released the mobile version of their new browser, Opera 8 for Symbian S60. The new browser encapsulates ten years of cross-platform browser development and delivers innovation as well as customization opportunities in one small package.
Opera 8 for Symbian S60 represents the latest in Web browser technology, providing an unparalleled Web experience for the wide range of mobile phones based on Symbian S60. The browser is based on the same engine as the newly released and popular Opera 8 for Windows, Linux and Mac. Its improved support for JavaScript and DOM makes it a powerful technology platform for the development of mobile Web applications. For the end-user, this means more speed and better functionality than ever before, while operators can now offer their subscribers advanced mobile services and an unparalleled mobile Internet experience.
The new version includes a major upgrade in Opera's unique Small-Screen Rendering (SSR), the technology that reformats Web sites to fit the width of mobile screens. Opera 8 for S60 also introduces four-way navigation with fast scrolling for efficient browsing on small screens. Users can now choose between two rendering modes: Quality and Speed. The Quality mode keeps more of the originial site color, design and layout than previous versions of SSR; in Speed mode, Web page rendering is more basic but 25 percent faster.
"Opera has developed its own market foresight by introducing cutting-edge Web technologies for a decade, all the while maintaining our drive to deliver a superior Web browsing experience across different platforms and media channels," says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "Fully compliant with Web standards and Opera's customer requirements, Opera 8 strengthens the company's position as the leading browser vendor on the S60 platform, and brings the latest in Opera's full mobile Web experience to millions of users around the world."
Armed with new and improved SSR and other innovations, Opera 8 is a proven customizable and extendible mobile browser. It allows operators and handset makers to maintain customer loyalty and reduce churn by quickly and affordably bring new services to market.
Symbian is continuing to strengthen its leading position in advanced 3G markets. According to the company, 12 of the 48 phone models based on the Symbian OS currently shipping are designed for 3G networks. Opera is well prepared for this development, and the new Opera 8 for mobile is designed to take full advantage of high-speed connectivity.
Availability Opera 8 for S60 is available to download from . Users with the previous version, Opera 6.20, will receive a free upgrade.
outkasted 5th May 2006, 18:53 not that i'm against the default browsers that come with the handsets but the facts are clear and obvious they NEVER do what they are meant to do....tht is BROWSE the INTERNET FLAWLESSLY....
Problems with the default browsers
1.Fixed Cache
2.Web Page Rendering is not like they are meant to be... sometimes the pages will show errors
3.More importantly DOWNLOADS are most of the times not possible
4.Browser is mostly SLOW especially compared to OPERA and NETFRONT
as this application is one of the must haves and also following its reputation as the best BROWSER ever made for the Symbian Platform!!!TOPIC MADE STICKY!@!

If you have N70, the original Opera is free to use and you can have the original without crack.

i removed the one installed on my phone when i bought it to free up space on my memory card =) now i need it again since i had new memory card.
scoiattolo49 8th May 2006, 15:41 Don't want to criticise this EXCELLENT browers but I think there are a few bugs yet to be addressed.
In particular the most annoying it's a sort of memory leaking, so after a while you use it for continuous browsing, it gives an "out of memory" message and often crashes.
It seems it's not yet solved in this version. Does anyone knows if this is the case?
scoiattolo49 8th May 2006, 15:44 i removed the one installed on my phone when i bought it to free up space on my memory card =) now i need it again since i had new memory card.
You can try to contact Opera explaining your situation and they may be able to help you out giving a new registration code.
I did this a while ago with my Nokia 6600 and they sent me a new reg code :-)

Have you try the version from Nokia at:
hxxp://nds2.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/Nokia_N70_opera_s60_801_EMEA.sis
(repace xx) and then update this version directly from Opera.

(repace xx) and then update this version directly from Opera.
not yet,i'll try to install that since it comes from nokia site. thanks mate!
cosymitis2 9th May 2006, 14:11 This does not apply only to N70. Some phones come with Opera preinstalled. There is a free version of Opera for theese phones (I suppose after agreements between Opera and the phone company). You can find the list of devices at:
hxxp://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/
(replace xx with tt). If you have one of theese phones get the Opera from the manufacturer (ex. Nokia) and then update this version with the newer one directly from Opera from your mobile phone.
nooxcorp 10th May 2006, 06:13 i'll try to update mine later. thanks for the info mate!
scoiattolo49 12th May 2006, 11:56 I tested now the new version for a while and yes the improvement made are quite useful and overall the browser is great.
But I think that the sort of "memory leaking" is still there. After a while you use it the pages start to give "memory full" and sometimes even the program terminates alone.
At this point every page will give "memory full", even the not heavy ones.
Only solution is to quit the program and restart it: at this point the page will load without problems.
Anyone with the same experience?

jakeypal 22nd May 2006, 13:51 Hey,
I wonder if anyone experienced problems with Opera 8.6 while donwloading files from an email box. I got an attachement in my email box and then tried to download. Opera showed the process complete with a tick sign but the file size was 0! There were attachments there and I tried to download them several times both to a memory card and to the phone memory - all in vain. Then I used the default browser in my Nokia N70 and downloaded both files quickly.
Did anyone have similar problems? It looks like a bug.
Cheers

GinPery 22nd August 2006, 14:28 how u are doing that? i want it to become longer too with the trial date.
al3bq 24th August 2006, 13:29 thenks for programs
Silver6788 24th August 2006, 18:37 i so love opera cos it is cool.
majselbaum 24th August 2006, 23:44 how u are doing that? i want it to become longer too with the trial date.
use for example Y-browser.
go to c:, then c:\system, and at last c:\system\data.
find file viger.dat.
in y-browser -> Options->File->Properties-> set as "read only"
and now you are happy 58-day user :)
when u delete viger.dat opera sets "30day trial use" again.
then you can change again viger.dat :) :supz:
sorry for my english :)

voiceless 17th September 2006, 05:22 How install "OPERA MOBILE ACCELERATOR" on mobile does tis compatible with opera 8.65.
opera accelerator can't be use to v8.65. Last version that did support accelerator is v8.00, but then again it's no use coz opera has abandoned the service for new user. That's mean no new registration. Just use opera mini if u need faster browsing.
KissMyAss 17th September 2006, 12:52 thanks a lot for this version

imrozya 30th September 2006, 02:59 Download Opera Mini
Opera Mini support
Based on testing performed by Opera Software, this device supports Opera Mini Basic (MIDP 1). & midp 2.0
Released today.... The official Opera mini 2.0 has been launched it today. New features include.. Downloading web content to your phone. New skins.. Choose your own skins and more enjoy. Download here using your phone browser.
Opera Mini is a fast and easy alternative to Opera's mobile browser, allowing users to access the Web on mobile phones that would normally be incapable of running a Web browser. This includes the vast majority of today's WAP-enabled phones.
Instead of requiring the phone to process Web pages, it uses a remote server to pre-process the page before sending it to the phone. This makes Opera Mini perfect for phones with very low resources, or low bandwidth connections.
Opera Mini offers the same speed and usability as the renowned Opera mobile browser, and uses Opera's Small Screen Rendering technology to provide access to the Web. It has all the features expected of a browser, and more, such as bookmarks, browsing history, and ability to split large pages into smaller sections for faster
basic is for midp 1.0 and advanced is for midp 2.0 handsets
it works on my6630 just awesome man thankx

kardking 30th September 2006, 12:53 Does OPERA v.8.65 cracked by BiNPDA work on the E61?
sunstar26 1st October 2006, 00:15 cant we have the version without registration? =(
1. i have installed the cracked version 8.5
2. and then 8.6 wa released, downloaded the trial at opera website, install and overwrite 8.5 and it works full
3. then i have downloded the 8.65 trial version on opera website overwrite 8.6, thus im using a full version.. tested on N6630
jabber 5th October 2006, 04:57 i like opera but it seems to be very expensive. some pages it downloads 200+kb. and i open the same page using opera mini and it only opens the page in 22kb.
if your network charges per kilobyte, it would be cheaper to browse thru opera mini. also I get memory full errors in opera. never had it in the mini opening the same page. but the mini shows smaller pics though, but im fine with that.
maptimus 7th October 2006, 14:59 please link to opera for N71
Thnx
bagofcandies 9th October 2006, 22:02 opera it's no more free, now it's pay and needs code to register.
I have the same problem too...
I hope someone find a crack for it
Edit: found the V8.60 cracked version, problem solved what unit are you using? it says in the opera site its free for certain phones!
now my question,,,,,,,i have an N70 ,im planning to reformat evrything phone & memory,,,when i install opera back from the website will it still be free? i mean will it be full version even though ive erased the original opera from my phone,,,so will it still update the lost opera??
what really is the diff between 8.6 & the mini browser? the mini is free right?
which is faster?? i read in the previous post that the mini is slower to download??? what slower downloading apps or downloading the webpage??

i think your problem came from a wap access point. I had the same problem in ipmart when using wap access point. You must use internet access point in ipmart, otherwise you'll be ask to login over and over again. Install setting wizard if you didn't know your internet access point or call your network to send you the setting.

this problem only occurred to phones with small amount of ram.

disable javascript, set image load to cache or none, block pop up and use speed setting instead of quality.
