UNNOFFICIAL E3 / Next Gen FAQ 2006

Please don't pm me asking to add stuff to this, this is a once off and this information is to the best of my knowledge at the time.

- Is there a new N-Gage Device?
No. Nokia are expanding the N-Gage system to the new N-Series handhelds, and some other Symbian Series 60 phones like the 6630.

- Why is Nokia not releasing a new N-Gage Device?
Nokia felt it better to open up their gaming platform to owners of compatable phones in order to improve the N-Gage platform. Some people did not like the physical shape of the N-Gage, therefore, did not purchase it.

- When are the new games being announced?
Several new games have been announced, but not "officially" - These include System Rush Evoloution, Pro Series Golf & Creatures Of The Deep.
Other than those titles already seen on the E3 N-Gage website, no dates are known.

- Will these be available on MMC Game Cards for the N-Gage Game Decks?
Games that take advantage of new hardware features, like ONE : WHO'S NEXT will not be able to run on the N-Gage or QD. Games will be distrubuted to players by means of an over-the-air download or by using your home computer. At the current moment, it would seem no more game card releases are planned.

Advantage of this - Several games can be installed to the memory (no more swapping game cards!), and no packaging, resulting in lower prices for the games. You can also try a a game before you buy.

Downside of this - Gamers like the smell of a freshly opened game box, and you're not gonna get that.

- How do i make my N-Series N-Gage enabled
N-Series & Compatable phones in the future will have a software based program called "The Deck" - this is like a virtual N-Gage on the phone, and a muchly improved version of the Launcher. The program will be pre-installed on those handsets, however, those who don't have it may have to use a downloadable version.

- When will the deck be available? Where can i download it?
The deck is currently not available, and cannot be downloaded.

- When will the next gen system be launched?
Nokia currently have an estomated time of the first half of 2007.

- Will N-Gage be renamed SNAP MOBILE?
No - there is confusion over this. N-Gage & Snap Mobile are different platforms - Snap Mobile is for Java based games, N-Gage is for Symbian Based Games on Nokia Handsets.

- Are there any more games scheduled for the N-Gage or QD?
Currently, PAYLOAD will be the last known compatable release for the N-Gage Game Deck Devices.

- Is this the end of N-Gage?
Would you like to be Tacowned?

Well if 6630 and n70 would be supported then there are many chances that many games will be compatible with os7 devices :)

Nokia are not planning any new version of N-Gage till now. They will bring the N-Gage platform to N-series phones. Probably, N-Gage is the brand name, they don't want to part with.

By the way, does any of the ipmart friends know something about Snap Mobile? I read somewhere that it is the Java counterpart of N-Gage arena. Do you have more details about it?

Some games which will be available for the Next Generation N-Gage enabled phones can be previewed in this video - h**p://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsIY_B_L1fs
It appears that the titles which will be available, include a new version of Space Impact(Nokia's take on space shooters), Habbo Islands, Shadow Born(the two games, which were actually announced for the previous generation N-Gage), Pro Series Golf, Pocket Aces Texas Hold 'em, along with the already hyped Creatures of the Deep, ONE: Who's Next?(the sequel to ONE), System Rush Evolution(the sequel to System Rush), and a new version of Mile High Pinball.

Also, it appears that the N-Gage platform will be supported by a good range of handsets, including N70, N73, N80, N90, N93, etc.
