btw, juz a suggestion, if u don't mind... i would suggest using some sort of an animation for the progress bar (the one that shows when sending a text message for example) like the ones banderas use...

also, how about putting in some masked pix in the pop-up backgrounds?

hey, by no means am i undermining your own preferences or your style, pare... it's juz a suggestion w/c you may or may not take on...

also, maybe i'm juz a bit frustrated that i am not able to make my own creations at the moment like i used to make themes for N6600 bcoz my laptop with WinXP is spoiled... hehehe...

currently, i'm stuck with by WinME-based desktop :cry:

It's ok. I'm open. Actually I'm working on that before I posted these themes but it was taking too long. So I thought maybe I can make more themes if they're just simple themes. Change the wallpaper, menu backgrounds and some colors. But I'll still continue working on the detailed ones. And for sure, I'll post it here.

I'm using PhotoImpact. It's JPG format. I'm not quite used to Adobe yet but I'm learning so that I can create/edit vector images for the TS3.

I just made an enhancement for the Lightning McQueen Theme. Just added a clock and made some color changes. Hope you like it...

I don't know if this will apply to everyone but I'll still post it just in case

To delete a theme on an N80, follow this instruction:

1. The theme that you're about to delete shouldn't be activated. Change it first.
2. Go to App. Mgr. If the theme is saved on your memory card, there should be 2 theme names in it. One that says installed and one uninstalled.
3. Remove the uninstalled first.
4. Then, remove the installed one.

Ok, about the diff in size, I guess the more enhancement you make, the bigger the size gets. Like with the Wolverine, there's only one picture there and that's the idle screen. The rest is just plain. And I didn't use any special highlights like the others. I used the regular highlights.

Now, about the theme affecting the phone, I haven't encountered any with a big sized theme and all of these are installed in my phone. (That reminds me, got to delete some of them. Hehehe). The only diff that I've encountered is that the bigger the theme, the slower it opens when you use it.

I hope I was able to answer your questions. And by the way, these are from my experiences only ok. Not sure if it affects other N80 users.

i like the fact that the theme is is white on the main screen, but what i didn't like was that the icons were weapons, simply because of the fact that with a dark screen, it made it hard to see
if you could make an additional punisher screen with the main screen of the old theme, it would be awesome, giving me both a black and white punisher theme.

And for your other question, I can't really answer that yet coz I haven't upgraded my N80's firmware. But did you know that the TS3 can make animated themes already? Not the same as the SE. It's more like a theme changer. Well, anyway, I can go thru the details of that coz it's too hard to understand and to make.

I'll try to have my phone upgraded soon but we can wait for TaI's response coz I think his N80 is already upgraded coz he's the one who told me that I should upgrade my phone.

If you have a DKU-2 or CA-53 cable you can flash your N80 by your self. I just flashed my N80 by my self I just followed the instruction in the firmware section. But I think you have to make sure that there is no power interruption during flashing.

The thread is for N70 but applicable also for N80, just install the RM-92 package instead of the RM-84. Just take note not to re-boot your system after the installation of Phoenix 2006.

Hi.

Why not try to get the hang of it first. Even if I give you the measurements but if you don't know where to put it, it would still be hard.

What you do is try it out, open a ready made template, copy the images for each section that you want to make in your image/picture editor and save it. This way, you'll familiarize yourself with TS3 and at the same time getting the data that you need.

i agree it's a bit difficult to use landscaped themes for idle and menu backgrounds in themes... in case you have some landscaped pics you really like to use in a theme, i suggest (though admittedly, it's a bit tricky), you use photoshop to cut & append similar color plain pics on top and below a landscape pic to make it appear as a portrait-oriented one... from there crop/cut accordingly... i used to do it that way...

if u find a landscape orientation pic that you would like as idle screen background, i have a suggestion:
=> resize/crop it to 416x352 and transfer it to ur N80
=> find a ready-made theme or a theme already installed on your phone which has similar colors as the pic that u like
=> apply that theme then, edit it and choose the cropped pic as wallpaper and voila, u'll have it on you idle screen

however, other colors & designs of that theme will be retained, of course...
but at least, you'll have the pic you wanted on the idle screen, hehehe... :)

i used to do this before SuperGray arrived here at i-phone, hehehe... i installed Banderas' Black_Tribal then, used a black & white (grey actually) version of the "S" burning logo as wallpaper...

Yes. Icons can be changed although its a bit hard to make unless you have an icons pack. I seldom change the icons coz before, when I was still using a 6630, I have themes that have great looking icons that I downloaded from another site. Sometimes my phone hangs or resets because of it. How did I find out that it's the themes that are causing it? Well, when I used themes with standard icons it doesn't.

But if you really want themes with diff icons, lets just wait for TaI coz I'm sure his themes will have great icons.

You have a major problem here if idle screen can give you kick :lol:

am not sure if nokia has had the animated theme feature in older (S40) models but, they certainly have not been able to keep abreast with SE in this feature... :axe:

Nokia has never done animated theme before. I was also quite puzzle on why Nokia can't keep up on this. For 6280, they even try and do some icon scaling when a menu item is selected, but it is not animation, coz it just goes from 1x to 2x that's all. And the bigger icon has aliasing problem, quite ugly if you ask me.

Nokia 3rd Edition support animation u guys with theme studio 3 but it hard to do...hmm maybe next time i will learn how...:-)

I have heard of this as well, but so far I don't see anyone doing it. I think this thread someone mentioned that the latest firmware says it support animation, but someone tried and animated gif is not working. I hope TaI your research can bear fruit, then we can finally show something to the SonyEricsson. :lol:

TaI is right. If you have TS3, transfer the ZEBRA theme to .SIS and install it to your N80. The ZEBRA theme is animated but not like the K750i. I'll post it here also so that others without TS3 can try it.

Yep theme studio 3 can create animated :) it support SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) the tool for SVG format is Adobe Illustrator :) i use this for making theme right now but still learn how to use it ;).

Here is the Zebra theme that came along with the TS3. I editted it and tested it on my phone and I still can't make the animation in the idle and menu screen work. The grid highlights work. You'll see the highlight turn dark to light in the menu screen and in the idle screen if the apps are activated.

I agree. And SE Theme Creator is much more easier to use.

What I don't understand is that Nokia already made a phone with active matrix, like the 6230i. Why not apply that to their latest phones as well?

Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see if the upcoming Nokia phones will have it.

I have tried out the Captain America theme. It seems OK, in fact it is quite nice looking, except that the clock has some aliasing issue.

woweee! ty ty for the OC! hey can anyone help me, where do u guys install your themes on the N80? phone or memorycard? coz whenever i install in the card, the theme get lost sometimes meaning after installing its there, later its already gone! how come some themes get lost when installed in the card? i have a newer version of N80 too.

additional question, how do i delete the themes in the card? coz it seldom shows in the application manager. also themes that get lost in the card, i cannot reinstall them anymore.

Try using your data cable. Use Data Transfer so that your phone acts as a mass storage device. You will be able to locate your themes there.

Guys do u have problem with application manager that didn't show any list of app to uninstall right :) u might upgrade ur firmware this will solved ur problem but i think u guys already update ur firmware to latest one right? :)

That's what I'm using. Sometimes it takes longer than 5 mins. It really is slow.

If you want it to be fast, still not that fast, then I guess you should use the lowest resolution.

I'm sorry. Wrong res. N93's resolution is 240 x 320. So Mid res of TS3 3rd ed. should work on this.

Yes. These themes are for the N-Series phones only. Before, I used to make themes for S60, S40 and SE also. But now I'm concentrating on the N-Series since that's what I presently use.

Whenever I try to view pictures from gallery, typically it takes a second or two for the picture that initially display on the screen as a bit blurry before it becomes clear looking on the screen, however, using other themes not created by Gray, they remain blurred and its really annoying, but whenever I use your themes, they work fine. I saw what you mean. It looks like it's also saving the SIS file to the phone memory. That is why it says at the App Mgr "Uninstalled". I guess we can just delete the uninstalled one since it's already installed on the memory card.

I'm not that familiar with the 3250 but I think you can't use the N80 themes for it.

You may have to check out the threads with Symbian OS Ver 9.1 Ser. 60.

Well my friend had this theme on his N91 so i decided to share it with u all....

I works on N91 so i am guessin it will work with all S60 3rd Edition phones..

No problem, take your time, its not very serious really.

I have also tried deleting it in file manager and the theme is still there. Thus should not be a problem to delete those sis file then. Thanks!

Now there is something wrong again...:|

I tried to install the new version of Nokia N80 theme (Vodafone Edition theme) and it starts installing... In the end it says "Installation impossible" [translation from Greek] :(

I browsed the old files through mass storage mode and I deleted them. I started the installation again and the same thing happens in the end.:cry:

The SpiderMan3 theme installs and works fine except the analog clock. It doesn't display the day in that small white box. I believe that the font is white right there!:???:


Before the installation procedure of those themes Nokia N80 warns that they are incompatible, but I can continue the installation.:???: :?:

I must say that I install the themes on memory card, as I can't delete them from memory phone without a file explorer.:idea:

If you can't see it there anymore, use your data cable and connect to your pc using data transfer. You can remove it from there.

hi gray. Could you please use lower resolution backgrounds for the themes for n70 ?? Coz i downloaded a few of ur themes ...O.C , batman etc and there is a lot of image dithering in the background..i.e very grainy edges. Coulkd u plz fix this problem with your themes.

I'm not familiar with the N91 but I think my themes will not work on it since
N91's resolution is just 176 x 208. Most of my themes here are 352 x 416.

Yah. I get that also. But it still installs the themes.

My phone is not upgraded. I'm not sure if the upgraded ones have the same problem.
