So i got robbed today, havnt been robbed for the last 20 years of my life.

Any way just thought id start this thread and other ppl could share how they got tricked, and got robbed. I dont mean like how many phones u lost because u got drunk somewhere ;)

Background:
Live in South Africa (NE) very close to the botswana border in a realtively busy town.

When:
Broad freaking daylight est. 14:30hurs

Scenario:
Driving down a 4 lane road. stopped at robot for red light. Some idiot starts shouting near my window, so i looked WTF is his problem (idiot) then he suddenly opens the door (even more idiot not locking the door) so i grab it and ram it shut. We Right hand drive. So Reverse.... In that 4 seconds of idiotisy, another guy opened my left door and grabbed my cell, without me noticing because 4 other guys were terrorising me and acting like monkeys.
So i stop and wander WTF was that about about and drive off (F**** idiot) 500metres later lady in car hoots at me and tells me they stole my wallet (cellphone in nice leather pouch) and im like DOH! F**** S**** C*** ;[

Outcome:
I nearly cried ;[ my Nokia 7710 perfectly tuned. RIP

-Dont get distracted by idiots
-Lock your freaking doors! my car doesnt have autolock ;[
-If in SA (keep a 2 nine mils under seat; pretend to play CounterStrike)
-If in somewhere else, pepper gas [;

Worst case scenario:

They have nine mills

My sympathy dude. But this s***t does happen all over de world! It's bound to happen - almost just like death. Atleast they did not take your car or your life. One more thing, next time post this to a different section cause this has nothing to do with s60 apps! Keep strong...

This has happend to me once and I dont want it to happen ever again. Sad to hear it has happend to you too and many other people that is facing the same problem.

Happened to me once, actually it wasn't me....it was my old Samsung C100,and my mother was using for a while..she took a trip to Puri,I didn't go along..there's a very famous temple, the Jagannath Temple over there...it is illegal to take mobiles into the temple,so she was taking it out of her handbag to hand it over to my bro...in a flash somebody snatched it away from her hand..I really would have been glad had it been some robber as in your case, that would have at least made losing the phone worth it..but no,it was a silly monkey, thousands of those creatures live in the temple premises u know!!Later when I dialled the number I was told the phone had been switched off, clever monkey!!Now which story is more tragic my friend??Unbelievable??Believe it...Ripl..nah..

Hey ppumkin. I'm in SA too. My beautiful SX1 got stolen right out of my pocket in Sammy Marx square. Idiot bumped into me and just started running, I chased after him, but some people all look alike!

Luckily insurance replaced phone. I'm happy again.

You know, thats sounds a bit brutal and stuff, but if the whole world would implememnt that instead of jail, the goverment will save millions on jail fees... :) but yea you know how it would go then, theyd steal that money for them selves instead of creating jobs.. the world is brutal ;[ in a new way...

I once got it stolen from a chick when I made out with her and as she was touching me all over she got my phone and passed it to another person that was waiting.

It was stolen for a few minutes actaully.. my friends had seen the whole thing..

both chicks got kicked out quite brutally from the disco.

Well that's why it was abolish, too brutal. That's why this crime is so difficult to get rid of. The punishment can't be too harsh if not more serious crime will need to be harsher as well.

Guys, why don't u install Guardian software ([Only registered and activated users can see links])?
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
Every time you switch on your mobile telephone, Guardian proceeds with authentication of the inserted sim card; if authentication fails, Guardian send a notification sms message to a previously set telephone number.
In addition, the system features remote control functions, i.e. deleting your photographs/phone book/text messages/video/audio data in case of loss or theft of your mobile phone (see Plugins section).
Here are the main features of Guardian, the only existing application of its kind today:

- Sms Notification -

Guardian automatically sends an sms notification about the change of the sim card containing additional information (new owner’s phone number, GSM cell ID of the terminal to which the telephone is connected, country ID and current network). Such sms messages are sent without notifying the new user.

- AutoStart -

Guardian autoruns every time you turn on your mobile phone; to be fully operative, users simply need to install it and set it up.

- AutoHiding -

When an unauthorized sim card is inserted (or in case the mobile phone is turned on without any sim card inserted), the program will switch to invisible mode (and therefore will not be accessible anymore). The new user will not be aware of the presence of an antitheft system. When an authorized sim card is inserted, Guardian will return to visible mode.

- Multilanguage -

Guardian includes multilanguage features; it is currently available in these languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Dutch, Serbian, Russian, Hebrew, Greek, Portuguese, Khmer, Chinese, BrazilianPortuguese, Czech, Tagalog, Croatian, Farsi, Malay, Bulgarian.

- Uninstall Protection -

This feature protects the system from unauthorized uninstallation. The program is not visible among the installed programs; to be uninstalled, a specific procedure is required, which may be accessed from the program only.

- Hard Reset Protection -

Modern mobile devices are equipped with a procedure (hard-reset) which allows to restore default settings (removing every installed software). Similar antitheft software programs may be blocked by using this procedure. Guardian features an advanced shadow copy system; in 90% of cases the program is not deleted after a hard-reset.

- Low Overhead -

During the day-to-day usage of the phone with an authorized SIM, Guardian will not use any memory resource, and it will not even run in the backround. The program will start every time the phone is turned on and if the SIM is authorized it will simply turn off without wasting any resource.

(*) Remote Control Plugins

Once a sim card change has been notified, users may send sms commands to Guardian. For example, users may delete sensible data such as sms/photographs/phone book/video/audio data, simply by sending a single sms. See Plugins section for more information.

(*) Sim White List

A maximum of 10 authorized sim cards can be registered.

(*) The latter two features will be activated after a donation.

But that kind of software cannot prevent the thieves from stealing the phone from you, am i right?
Luckily, i've never been pickpocketed, and I don't ever want to :)

Nah unfortunately not, but you can be one step closer to tracking your phone back, even after hard reset its still install, so the author claims in 90% of the S60 phones. It sends u all vital data, like sim numbers, current number linked to sim, location details in a radius of 10km in town, so if u stay in a metropol u know moreor less in which suburd too look, u can call the guy and say he won a free ride in a brand new car at his local car dealer and wait for him to show... with police, or a bat if u know how the person looks who stole u phone, if he bought it from someone else it wont make sense beating him. its actually a nice prog, cant wait until they implement gps into mobiles, then im sure a program like that will come standar for anti-mobile-hijacking.... ;-] then u can pin point u phone to the metre, without any police warrants and sh*t.. any way.. too bad i never shaw this before my phone got stolen.. doh!

Atleast i know now ;-] and maybe you can save a couple of peoples cell phones by that post, like my next phone, i swear im gonna put a chain on it or sumthing, theyl have to rip my hip out to get my cell phone :) its a disaster, i wonder how the statistics look on car theft since the cell phone was introduced... i mean you can steal a car, chop it up and sell parts on the black market for a couple of 100bux, or go around town and steal cell phones and sell them immiediatly for allot of bux too.. sheez.. o well hope this thread will help some other people

thanks for the post skandymick, im sure many ppl will go that site and install that prog after reading this tradegy ;]

here, telling bout my bro. i think it will be my bro's worst experience. his hand phone ( HP iPAQ 6828 ) get stolen when he was busy talking with his girl face to face. not noticing, after a girl bout 15 yrs old or younger, looked at them curiously and suddenly, my brother was surprised that the phone is no longer beside him, so he knew and confirmed that the girl took it cause the way she react after leaving that place was kinda weird (running towards the taxi with her family).. now the girl is making things worst although my brother had offer $50 if she would return it back to him cause my brother pity her as she is only 15.. stupid right, isn't it? now reported to the police and it has been 2 days after the case.. still no news bout his phone.. pity him lots.. its worth $1000+ and gone just like that! ahh.
