Hey

This is my first post and I'm new to the whole symbian/s60 nokia thing. I am looking for a small relatively cheap phone ($150-200 or around there) that can play VNES as well as other games and applications. Here are the phones I am looking at.7610,6600,6260,6630,6680,6670,3230. I would ilke to know if all of those phoens will run VNES symbian version. If so, which one would most likely run it the best? Also, are those all s60 platform phones?? Why is the 3230 listed on symbian 9.1 apps but the others are listed until symbian s60 apps? Will the 3230 run everything that the s60 phones will? Thanks for clearing this all up. Also, which phone would you reccomend overall and which would you reccomend for playing VNES? Thanks

tom

All phones run Vnes(with symbian i mean),I think the best of all this phones is 6630.3230 is symbian 7 is not symbian 9.1,the phone that you are talking about is 3250.All phones are s60 but 7610,6600,6260,6630,6680,6670,3230 are s60 2n edition, and 3250,N71,N72,N73,N80,N91,N92,N93 are s60 3d edition, why are you stak with Vnes, you can do better things with symbian phones.

I've had way more fun with vboy than vnes, super mario land 1, 2, warioland 1, 2 + other great platformers = heaven. (recommendations for other platformers would be good - and is the original version of tetris available? I can only find a crap colour version with no sound)

6681 and 6630 have relatively newer OS 8.0a. The camera is a little better compared to 7610. The 6681 looks a little better and has a slider to protect the camera otherwise it's the same as 6630. Somehow 6630 has slightly more RAM/HEAP memory on startup. Though esthetically I think 6681 beats 6630... but I'm not sure you can get it for $150...

However 7610 & 3230 has even more free memory on startup as unsual as that may sound. Don't really know why but thats the case... maybe OS 7 is less memory intensive.

If you've got cash to burn, I'd personally recommend N70. Hell it costs a bit more but you get better camera, video and a crap load of free memory for you to mess with on games, emulation etc. It's price shoud be about $400 now but the prices should be coming down as its almost a year.

But you better stay clear of the OS 9.1 phones... they don't have any apps now... and I don't think emulation is gonna on that phone especially with those security and certificates. It's gonna take a while before OS9.1 phones ave decent apps...

tipicaly a "fresh" rebooted n70 has about 32 Mb of free ram compared to 6630 with 8-9 Mb and 6680 aprox 8 Mb. So it has a lot. No "out of memmory" on that one i guess... :)
