hi anyone can advise which is best USB to serial converter ( ie the adaptor which allows COMport RS232 devices to be used with USB port) as I hear that some do not function well with gsm related hardwares-as now most/ nearly all laptops do NOT come fitted with serial port.

yup. i personally sold quite many of this adapter, will recommend to buy a branded one. The best is request the shop for exchange if cannot be use on your device.. One more tip is that you look on the packing which mentioned useable for industrial purpose one then should be ok.
