Does anybody actually have a M600 or a P990?The shops here in greece don't know anything about these two models and there is a rumour that they will be on sale in late july..

M600 is out in many countries. To have more info check on SE site when selecting M600 and availability per country. I got mine 3 weeks ago in France.
BUT due to firmware problems some resellers have sent back their stocks to Sony for a firmware update.
P990 is not out yet (fall of july probably).

it's never good to buy a phone as soon as it is launched on the market, especialy these ones usesing new versions of opp systems, because they have lots of bug..... try to think when p800 was first released, had lot's of problems like shuting down, kerc errs etc ....

Don't rush guys in buying a new phone .... especially these ones with uiq 3 , wait ...

I was lucky with mine as it works really good on a day to day basis.
I know many people have problems but they are different from one phone to an other (which is strange especially when running same firmware...).
Positive point is that Sony allows upgrade without going to a service center.
Other positive point is that this M600 is a GREAT phone for business use.

Yes of course man , it's a great thing whit these upgrades, but thing about for ex when p900 first was out, and then a few months p910i ... I am sure that after the launch of p910, there will be soon a p910i or p1000 that has gugs fixed, more mem (maybe harddisk), bet camera etc , things that you can't upgrade a your local SE service shop :p

Yes and no.
Usually hardware always works if firmware follows. Per your info after P910 you will get soon P990 (I tried the pre-release 2 month ago) whose hardware was set more than 6 months ago. If people have to wait for definite release it is because firmware is not ready.

Again I agree with you, the best before buying a phone is to wait til it becomes mature, which is never the case... For ex my "old" P800 is still buggy sometimes.

for me this is a an annoying method of SE trying to sell this product.They could have gone straight to p990 after the p900 and not make a p910instead.Becouse its not fair for people who give 500 pounds and buy this kinda phone to see another phone from SE coming ahead with a better UIQ and many more possibilities than this one.So everyone who are going to buy p990 and after 1 month the p1000 comes out, what?they all gonna sell the p990 that they waited so long to buy, for the next model???

That's marketing, and Sony is good for that....
Personally now I check what I need and not to the best techno, so I decided not to need wifi (bluetooth is enough), camera (my camera will always be better that a cameraphone) or radio (I just put my .mp3 on the phone), so p990 or P1000 will not interest me. The more techno they will provide the more people will go back to what they really need, that is why I do not need a fridge with internet, simply because I have no use of it (and because I do not have 500 pounds to spend every year for a phone ....

that's what what I think also, a have a great sony camera, very small, 6 mgpixel, and great video quality, M600 is great for a phone, but I think the ultimate is W950 [h++p://[Only registered and activated users can see links]] with it's 4gb harddrive think of the speed of this phone will have, I'm having pr with my p910i with 300 mg of software installed , because of poor speed of reading data on the sdcard, but w950 won't have pr like this, it is the same harddrive asthe one used in ipod [same technology], and ipod is EXTREMLY fast fully loaded....

Anyway, I can't say that a phone doesn't need a camera because you can buy a digi cam and you get better picture quality ... the phone camera is also important, but if I was to choose from p990 and M60X | W950 I would leave pe p990 in the shop and take w950 or M60X, because the p990 looks very bad in my opinion and is still a very big phone - iven the flip is huge, and I also hate the "on screen" blue buttons, they realy su^K and look horrible

One way or the other, I'm still interested in buying P990 or at least giving it a chance.And anyway I think a lot of us here, still believe that it's a good combo.Nice camera, beautiful screen and querty keyboard(at least they look good!), nice apps will be on the way when it's out, and (personal opinion) I find its appearance rather cool!

My ideology is that don't buy a cell phone unless and untill your existing phone is not able to serve your needs. I have got a P900 flashed to P910a which gives me all that i want //music which is awesome and loud to make it more entertaining you can download the latest Power MP3 App.//videos again no issues over it you can download TCPMP and convert movies with Smartmovie and your are ready to rock// viewing HTML pages even with a GPRS over Wap service and i bought it refurbised for INR-10000 which is 222USD. I am not looking for a wifi right now coz as i am from india there are not many wifi hotspot were i can use this feature. so calculate your needs check what your pocket says choose the right stuff by reading reviews over iphone/gsm arena and many other blogs and forum, analyse by what extent you can tweak your device to enjoy the best for what you have paid........

Theres not just one but multiple reasons. somewere in future i would surely buy one of those but not now what you say is right its dosn't have 3G and WIFI, both of these technology have been mastered by only few countries were u can use it at par. also 3G service is not cheap, instead if you compare WIFI & 3G i think WIFI is vastly available there are places like Philadelphia/California/San Fransisco which will completely get wifi>>google and earthlink are already onto installing wifiradio on street light polls and service polls. so wifi yes 3G no.

as for leaving P900 and buying P990 i still stick to what i said in my last post.

Also P900 and other P Series is not made for kid who likes to fool around with a handset with 208x320 screen playing skyforce. if you would have observed P series/UIQ it has got whatever u need to oraganize your life/your office and there are not much of a buttons on board other than the retractable flip so you won't find much games, even with such limitation there are developers who have ported games from different OS and platforms. Its a complete corporate/executive class handset and I believe it to keep it that way. though i play RPG on it view DVD-Rips and listen Hour long trance.

And frankly speeking i don't think many people use there CellPhone for grabing pictures of something important, people always use a conventional DIGIcam or a camcoder these lenses are made for fun and our entertainment not to be the worlds best fotographer and video editor by using your cell phone.

I just bought a new P990 last month ago and i think it is the best smartphone in the market and the best phone collection that i have right now. almost everything you will find in it, its not just a pda but for me its almost like you have a mini computer in your palm. overall, the best of all the best smartphone as of this year.

I disagree with you.. the picture quality of P990's camera is good, sharp, crisp clear like what you can find in Nokia N70 series. but maybe not as great as the nokia N93 (3.2megs) and N95 (5.0megs autofocus) which is available in the market right now. The blue lighted qwerty keypads are beautiful and pleasing to the eyes.. it attracts beauty to the smartphone. regarding the flip of the phone, you can remove it anytime you want.. the weight of the P990 is almost as similar to the other P9xx series, the size of the P990 (without flip) is just the same with the latest pocketpc's.. its not a big phone, unless if your hand is undersized.. lol! as for me and for everyone else who owns a P990. its the best smartphone in the market you can find today.
