View Full Version : HOW TO UPLOAD GAMES FRoM YOUR PHONE (and sharing lol)
ibor 26th June 2006, 13:33 How to backup any game from your phone to your PC !!!
The FAR Manager Method
( thanks to Hi-Ban for write this tutorial )
Ps.
With this method you finally can backup any games from your K750/W800 phones !
1-WHAT DO I NEED?
A- You need Far Manager (download it HERE ([Only registered and activated users can see links]))
B- You also need the SEFP (get it HERE ([Only registered and activated users can see links]))
C- Finally you may need the USB Flash driver. You will not need it if you have SEUS installed. (get the driver HERE ([Only registered and activated users can see links]))
2-HOW DO I INSTALL IT?
A- Install FAR Manager.
B- Unzip SEFP zip file into the Far/Plugins folder.
C- Install the USB Flash driver if needed.
3-HOW DO I USE IT?
A- Make sure your phone is fully charged and turned ON.
B- Connect the phone to the PC and start FAR Manager.
C- Press ALT+F1. A window will appear. Select SEFP from that menu (or press "0"), but make sure the removable unit (E: ) is shown in the window, like in the image below. If not, you may get an error message and you'll have to start again from the beginning.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
D- If everything goes well, you'll see the "SonyEricsson Flash Plugin" window (Image below).
With the arrows in the keyboard (Up/Down) select the Comm device (if you have a k750/W800 you must select DCU-60). Now with the mouse select the speed (usually the fastest). Click on it or press Enter.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
E- Now you'll see the "OPEN USB" window (image below). You have 50 seconds to disconnect the phone from the cable, turn it off and connect it again to the cable while pressing the "C" key. So act quickly! If you fail to do this you must start again from the beginning.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
F- If you have done it correctly, you must see the "Boot" window (image below). You must wait until all automatic operations are done.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
G- Now you are browsing your phone's file system! As you can see in the image below, this is a MS-DOS based program. The screen is divided into 2 parts: In the left we are browsing our phone, while in the right we are browsing our hard disk. Just click into the folders to browse them. You can also use MS-DOS commands (in the black bar at the bottom of the screen), but i recommend you to use the mouse, as not all commands work.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
H- Now let's backup our games. In the left half of the screen (our phone), go to the FS/tpa/preset/system/ams folder. All your games and apps (installed in the phone's memory) are in that folder (see image below). You'll see about three files for each game name. The files without extension are PNG images (the icons of the games) You only have to look for the .JAR files (they appear in a different colour).
You might also want to backup the JAD files, in some cases you also need them.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
I- Now in the right half of the screen (our HD) go to the folder of your choice in which you want to store your backups.
J- Finally, you only have to drag and drop the JAR files from the phone (left) to your HD (right) and... voilá! your games have been backuped!
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
K- Don't forget to go back to the root folder of your phone. This way you will close CSFS Loader. (i personally don't know the use of this, but the author recommends doing it before closing the program or disconnecting the phone)

4-NOTES:
- You may check for newer versions of FAR Manager ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and SEFP ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) if you want. Soon more phone models are going to be supported.
If you upgrade your SEFP version, be sure to upgrade too your FAR Manager to the latest version.
- Note that your games have to be installed in the phone's memory. This software will not read the memory card.
- After accessing your phone with this software, you may have to press the Power key longer than usual to turn on the phone...
Removing the battery and putting it back again solves this.

3 - Many times you´ll download a *.jad archive first. Edit it with Notepad and look for the "MIDlet-Jar-URL" line.
There, you must see the link (total o parcial link) to the game file (*.JAR).
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
4 - Enter this link in OPERA and download the game.
NOTE: Try to save also the JAD file. Sometimes you'll need the info contained on it.

qwerty111 16th July 2006, 12:56 Thanks Ibor for this. I'll add some notes.
The far method is the best method :) .
For 6230/S40 nokia phones, just use mobimb to drag the game from the phone to the computer desktop.
Also for SE phones, you can save the game to your memory card by going to the game in your phone and choosing move to ext.mem. From there you can plug your k7/w8 in and browse your memory stick for the games (MS:\MSSEMC\System\ams)

Yes is good trick but this method only works with firmwares R1L and older !

You are right. I looked in mobyexplorer and assumed too much.
Anyway here is what I really came here to do.
HOW TO USE Ibor's TUTORIAL method (opera+proximitron)WITH THE O2 GAMES ARCADE WITHIN BUYING A GAME OF 24 HOURS
(I was spurred to write this tutorial as my se wap browser kept messing up)
1. Set up opera and proximitron and MAKE SURE THE AGENT STRINGS ARE THE SAME AS YOUR PHONE (sorry for the caps; but they do make a point)
2. Buy the game of the 02 games arcade and install (or redownload within the next 24 hrs).
3. With the page open on your phone (please wait for the game to finish downloading...) go to more and save and save the page.
4. Dump the newly created page on the computer (MemoryStick:\MSSEMC\Media Files\webpages)(I think you have to be quick as there is an expiry time)
5. Open the wmlc file with opera.
6. If all went well a jad file will want to download.
7. Follow the rest of ibor's tut.
(This definitly works BTW; this is how i got SFII because my SE browser was canceling every time)
leo5354 29th July 2006, 09:25 @qwerty : I follow ur instruction but the saved wmlc file must be opened with notepad to actually see the link to the jar files. If i only execute the wmlc dumped from the phone it will only save another wmlc file. Is it the same with ur case ????
qwerty111 29th July 2006, 12:19 No not for me it does not. Maybe o2 uk handles downloads differently.
I'm not lying though.
I had to dump my SF 2 with this method because at 0kb; my se internet browser kept cancelling on me.
I tried Ibor's way and that didnt work because it wanted a mobile number (your phone actually transmits it when you buy a game) and there was no manual entry. So I saved the page which took me to the please wait thing and then it started downloading.
leo5354 30th July 2006, 16:40 Hmm, that's the opposite of what i experienced. In my case whenever i try to open the website pointed by the wappush sms received from my operator nothing happened. So i try to open it using K750i wap browser n it actually open a page with link to D/L the game. I D/Led the game like u say n save the page n dumped it on my PC. When i execute the wmlc it pointed to my PC harddrive so i try to open it using notepad n see the link to DL the jar file.
And yes it does have a time limit bcoz the link do have the "/TempDownload/" comment in the link. So after that i just copy the link to Opera n whoala, the jar files is saved to my PC.
Legless 4th August 2006, 03:05 I'm from the UK and have a SE W810i and am on VODAFONE... Which is the best method for me to download a game off Vodafone Live! and share with people? At the moment, when i download a game off VodaFone Live!, it auto installs the game (i can't pause/stop it, it just installs when the download is done), so how do i share the JAR with other people on here? Would love to sort it out and share what i download... Thx for any help... :ilove:

Unfortunately I think the Opera trick not work with Vodafone :| ,.. also bad news for you is the Far Menager methot and MPE not support backup games for your phone model (W810) !
leo5354 5th August 2006, 10:19 I think if u're using the W810i, u still can do it. Just pick the K750i or W800i phone header. Personally i think that K750i,W800i,D750i n W810i is basically the same. So the version of game that run on K750i will run perfectly on W800 n W810 too.
Baronic 5th August 2006, 10:44 i dont think so leo. depends on your firmware version a lot. my fren's k750i firmware not supported by far manager, so he cant download any games. The problem occurs with the newer firmwares
qwerty111 6th August 2006, 10:53 Here is another way to share games that you download. FOR ADVANCED USERS ;) :) ONLY
DO NOT USE THIS PATCH ON ANY OTHER MODEL, FIRMWARE, REGION (unless you wish to kill your phone)
I have tested this successfully on a k750 running w800i firmware - CDA102425/6, FW R1BC002, EMEA.
This patch is made by mobilefree.ru.
What it does. It redirects (for newly installed games) the hidden folder where games are stored into the other/ams where you can see the folder easily and send the jar files or delete them.
Requirements of this patch:
- CID36 w800i (there is an k750 patch available)
- w800i R1BC002 (I think having the emea firmware is an requirment)
- The latest version of the sefp (v 10 - TEN)
- Far manager
To install the patch:
1. Extract the vkp file to the far directory.
2. Start up far manager and the sefp.
3. Instead of going to the FS folder, go to the flash folder
- If it says DCU-60 not supported; STOP and download the latest SEFP
4. Copy the vkp file to the phone
5. Choose patch
6. Choose yes.
7. Quit the FAR manager and disconnect your phone. Take out the battery and put it in again.
8. Now any games or progs that you install (not the ones that have been installed) will install as normal but if you check the other folder; there should be a ams folder. DONT INSTALL THE GAMES FROM THAT FOLDER
To retrieve files from the ams folder.
- Bluetooth the file to your comp; the simplist way.
- Use the sony ericsson file manager to take the file out OR use myphoneexplorer (recomended any day over the sony ericsson software - and its free)
Oops; I uploaded the wrong java patch. Sorry, the one I uploaded before (w800_R1BC002_java_patch.rar ) gets rid of the security prompts.
Here is the real one (java_folder_w800_r1bc002.rar)
arnel17 6th August 2006, 10:56 nice app for w800 mate..this would be great for advanced users..^__^
qwerty111 6th August 2006, 13:40 lol i just realised 2 but im browsing through my psp so i cant edit atm still though thanks
leo5354 6th August 2006, 17:12 Just curious with u guys. Which method that u think is easier to do ???? I find that using opera n proximitron is the easiest for me.
qwerty111 7th August 2006, 10:03 I like using the far method (although the method above (my method) will be my preferred method when i get some credit.
momagic 27th September 2006, 23:25 Thanks, I wish I knew this before!!!! :P

can someone help me?

zendero 21st February 2007, 14:33 the opera gig works wonderfully...
but I have to save it to my computer directly...
eventhough the dump webpage trick doesn't work with me because there's a download limit (1).
I advise this method to all willing to share games/apps and don't have a far compatible mobile...
Follow the steps in the tutorial and voilá....games for everyone
zendero 8th March 2007, 15:32 gameloft connect has a new sms (text message) service, now you don't have to directly connect the DCU-60 cable to you computer.
Plus:
. You don't spend the money on 1 sms (text message) asking for the link
. First game is only 1 €
. The games are only 2 €
. After 5 games bought you get 1 free game
Minus:
. Need to have a credit card

zendero 3rd July 2007, 20:39 Phone Headers To Use With Ibor's Opera Trick
Description:
These are taken mainly from the page ibor has indicated. (You have to scroll down to the end of the page since it's listed in alphabetical order)
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
or this other one that I've found
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
You can use this trick ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) to get games directly to your computer, and by using different headers you can get games that are only available for other models and not your own. (ATTENTION: Use this with known compatible models of Sony Ericsson, don't go on buying k800i games for your k300i mobile).
Why do you have to use different headers?
Because media providers try to see if the receiving mobile is compatible with the content you requested and this is the only way to do it.
Nevertheless the SMS can be sent from any mobile (at least any SE mobile), but the download itself must be made by the correct model (or emulated model, as that's what the opera trick does).
How to choose a header to use?
As far as I know any header is usable. I just grab the first one (if there are several) and use it on proxomitron.
Where it works:
As far as I know the "trick" works on:
* GL ("webpage" or "Connect)
* SE "fun & downloads".
