This method can be use to flash a k750i to w800i or k750i to k750i (update firmware version) or w800i to w800i (update firmware version)

based on tutorials on

requirements:
- RED CID36 k750i/w800i
- DCU-60 (usb cable that came along ur phone when u bought it)
- USB Flash driver (attached below)
- DaVinci Flasher client 13.7 (h++p://mikhan.narod.ru/se/k750flasher_13.7.zip)
- Main Firmware and FS (File System) file (register at
[Only registered and activated users can see links] and download them there)
- customize.xml to finalize the flashing (attached below in complete.rar file)
- FAR Manager from h++p://[Only registered and activated users can see links] AND the update from h++p://farmanager.com/files/Far171a1b2104.rar
- Sony Ericsson Flashing Plugin (credits goes to Darkmen) from h++p://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=1540
- some braveness to do it... :mrgreen:


if u get all the requirements, then we can start now...
first of all...
backup all ur data from ur phone (contacts, sms, etc.) i recommend My Phone Explorer (search in iPhone and u'll find it easily)

install the FAR, update it (with the one u download above)
extract SEFP to plugin folder (eg. c:\program files\far\plugin)
run Davinci flash client...
click the Read CID / test cable button to check ur phone type (RED/BROWN/BLUE), remember this only works on RED phone with CID36..!!
do as instructed, turn off ur phone, remove the battery, put it back, press C button and plug to ur DCU-60
at this point, ur phone will still be OFF
1. choose the main firmware file

2. choose the FS file

3. make sure finalization is NOT checked..!! then click flash
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

if it's done without error, u can close the davinci flasher, unplug ur phone, remove the battery, and put it back (do not turn it ON)

run FAR
[Only registered and activated users can see links]


press Alt F1
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

choose SEFP
leave the default settings, press ENTER THE MATRIX button
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

now press and hold the C button on ur phone, then plug to ur DCU-60 cable
at this point, FAR Manager will detect ur phone, and try to make a connection to ur phone (ur phone should be still OFF right now)
FAR will display the folders and files in ur phone on the left window, right window is ur computer's disk ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

browse to tpa/preset/custom folder, click the right window pane, and browse to the folder where u extracted the complete.rar attached in this post... select all files (press and hold shift + up/down arrow) and press F5 (copy), a window will pop up, leave it alone, just press ENTER, and it will start the copy process...

back to the root (press ENTER on .. ) until a RED messagebox appeared on ur screen... press yes...

now u can unplug the phone from DCU-60, remove the battery, put it back, then press and hold power button about 10 seconds, if everything went right, ur phone will show a Phone Mode / Music only screen... :supz:

check ur firmware version using > * < < * < * on standby screen...

< means press ur joystick to the left

from what i read on internet, SE phones have 3 colours... (just code, not physical color)
just run the davinci client, click read CID/test cable button, turn off ur phone, remove the battery, put it back, press and hold C button on ur phone, and plug to ur USB cable...
the program will tell u which color and CID ur phone has...

k750i and w800i has the 100% same hardware, except the exterior...
so when a k750i is flashed with w800i's firmware, it will turns to a w800i...
including the sound quality...
my phone, even use w810i's acoustic driver which makes it louder like a w810i...
the quality is driven by the driver inside it (software driven)
so when i change the software (firmware in this matter), the performance quality will be changed as well...

2. flash it back to ur firmware (k750i).

to be able to flash it back to k750i firmware, u need to download the k750i firmware + File System (FS) from the same place where u downloaded the w800i's firmware...
the procedure to flash ur k750i back, is just the same...

the only difference is, what will u get in the end.. a k750i? or a w800i?

Dont worry, Ur k7 wont **** up. I flashed it this morning with the apac fw using livedevil's instructions and I'm enjoying my "new" w800i (k750i). The w8 f/w is much better and I love it. Thanks livedevil!

Anyway I've uploaded the apac version of the f/w. I've flashed to the w8 apac version from a k7 euro.

Yeah. The main firmware plus the fs is inlcuded. The pc suite does not have to be installed. You do have to have the episys driver installed though which is in livedevil's post with the usbdriver zip.
The way to install that is to extract the usbdriver to the desktop,
Take out the sim and put in the battery again.
Hold C and put in the cable.
When the add new hardware wizard comes up choose advanced and choose search in this location and point it to your desktop. The driver should install and switch off your phone and take out the cable and follow livedevil's instructions.

im sorry if im a bit annoying but i really am frustrated myself... LOL...

Bear this in mind 1st. I dont have the pc suite installed (because SE are extremely stupid; they say it's only for me,2000 and xp. I'm running windows server 2003).I do though have the k7 drivers installed; after flashing you need the w800 drivers.

When I did plug the phone in 1st it did come on but I let it as it was installing the usb flash driver/livedevil's driver included in his post. When it was installed
I took out my k750; loaded up the flasher; chose the apac f/w; went to flash. It then asked to hold C and put in the usb cable. I did and it worked.

You need the latest seus for that proggie to work. What the program does is tweak summat in your phone a bit (dont worry it's temporary) and when you load up seus; seus thinks its a w800 and gives you the w800 firmware. SEUS will then perform the flashing. No far manager is required.

besides, it's written in the tut, that this only works on CID36 phones...
so i think u should have been aware that "some" phones are CID49..

CID cant be changed, at least it's not that easy...
easier way to work around this, is to sell ur phone, and get a second hand one...
one that has been purchased at least 5 or 6 months ago.
big chance it's a CID36 one...

For a moment I messed up and thought my uncle's K750i junk, but I again restarted the whole process and it worked.
When I did it the first time I had some problems and couldnt finish the whole procedure so I thought I should try Live updte and see if the original phone settings get restored. But I guess that screwed it up even more and I began to get some "communication error......".
Dude, I was scared when I saw that error. After a lot of RnD didnt quite find an adequate solution for it, so went through the same process again.

make sure ur cable is dc60, plus make sure u installed the usb old driver once u hold up c button. well I got no prob. except maybe your cable is not workin properly or damaged.. and maybe its not a dc60. I know this is silly, but try to use another computer unit if u are sure tt u havin a dc60. n ur phone color code must b red. this method only works for cid36 mate....
any1 have the same prob as he does?

make sure u uninstall all the pc suit tt related to the phone connection. last time I got prob in flashin it.. but unlike urs for sure.

argee1908: To revert (although I dont see why) just use seus. Or download the k750i firmware of topsony and use the same procediure

heaven87: you can use the davinci flasher to see if your phone is cid 36. i never got that message. But yeah make sure the cable you are using is the dcu-10 (the cable that comes with the phone). crusier cables mess things up. Also if your phone is BROWN (which it shouldnt be, unless you changed it) use the crusier cable and setool2 to change it back.

I got 5 times like tt. once u take off n put the battery back... faster hold c and plug the cable.. n press the cid test button.... try it, i hope it works... but I dont have the problem loader so far.. maybe u havent install the driver properly. when u hold c... they will ask u for driver.. if not? try to plug to another usb.. then sumtimes they may ask the driver...

This is my 1st post on this incredible forum.
I've downloaded lots of games/apps for my K750i from this forum and i'm so impressed !

Now i was surfing the forum so i found this thread and many more that are talking about moding k750i.

I wold like to mod my phone as much as possible, but i have two questions:

1. When i'm updating the firmware is there the risk to make my fone useless ? If so, in what conditions is that possible? (My PC reboots often and i'm affraid that if it reboots during the update, my phone will not be recognized by any PC)
2. Can i make a total back-up of my phone ? I have the phone for 2 weeks now and i still have warranty for almost 12 months. If i want can i make the fone be exactly as it was when i bought it ?

hmmm... im sure coz the last time i tried mine wasnt a dcu-60 so i went to buy one and made sure it was... once i used my dcu-60 the loader prob came... last time when i tried withmy old dunno-wat-model cable ntg happened... this case is it reads my phone but says flash loader prob...

buddy u havent followed all the steps correctly, as even I had made a similar mistake. I downloaded different versions of the bin files. U should have downloaded

W800_R1BC002_FS_APAC
W800_R1BC002_MAIN_APAC

and flashed it. Only then will the folder structure will be seen. I had tried wiered stunts and nearly lost the k750i but restarted the whole process as a final try (which finally worked).
BTW DONT do an auto update via sony ericsson PC suit as that can cause more harm and u might get a communication error.
After u flash it with the above bin files automatically everything will fall in place.

U can also go on the fourth page of this topic and look for qwerty111
who has given a link to download all the reqd data for the flashing process.

CID is the encryption method that separates us from the phone's firmware + file system...
prior k750is still use CID36, while the latest ones has been changed to CID49 (which is currently not supported by the apps i mentioned in the first post...)
so check ur CID first using davinci client i mentioned in the first post...
if it says ur phone is CID36, then u can flash it to w800 for FREE...
if not, then u dont need to do the next steps in this tutorial... as it will be useless...
be patient and wait until it's supported...

I am not absolutely sure if that will work my friend as I had tried some similar stunts but landed getting more confused and a process filled with errors. When I tried flashing with somethign other than

W800_R1BC002_MAIN_APAC.bin and
W800_R1BC002_FS_APAC.bin

It didnt quite show me the directory structutre I required in the FAR manager which kinda freeked me out :cry: and trust me it was a scary scene. So eventaully I tried it with the above bin files and it worked.
So try it out first with the bin files of your choice and if it doesnt show the reqd files in the FAR manager get back to the above mentioned bin files.

I will try to answer your questions one by one. Lets try

1) I dont quite think your PC is causing any problems as I have a AMD 1.7+ series with 512 MB ram.
2) When u press flash the button has to turn to stop. So dont bother about it.
3) What your flasher reads is also fine dude.
4) When I did my flashing process I saw text such as "writing sector" or some thing similar (something on those lines only but not absolutely sure as its been long since i flashed my phone). After it writes all the sectors it will say something like flashing sucessful. From there on go to FAR manager and automatically follow all the procedures from the first page.
5) Lastly I feel u r getting a little too paranoid my friend. If you have any issues just try and slowly restart the whole process as it will help.

And a sugessition do it slowly and not in a haste as when I tried doing it in haste even I had similar problems. go ahead and try now

I have K750i, and i was upgrade it become W800i. It successfull, but now i want to change the firmware and change the language. I always fail to flash it, even i push "C button". My phone always turn on everytime i plug the USB cable. Why? Any body know how to solve it?

it's probably the USB Flash driver is corrupted or removed unintentionally from ur windows, try to re-install it...
turn off ur phone, remove the battery, and put it back...
do NOT run any application (flasher, far manager, etc)...
press and hold C button, and then plug ur phone to DCU-60 (usb cable)
windows will recognize new hardware found...
it will ask for driver... simply browse to epiusb.inf (USB Flash driver), and install it...

First of all, kudos to LiveDevil.

I need help on the following:

Can someone please upload the DaVinci Flasher client 13.7 here? I'm really having a hard time downloading it from h++p://mikhan.narod.ru/se/k750flasher_13.7.zip the download rate is ridiculously slow (200 BYTES/second or something), I've tried downloading this in three different computers at three different connection speeds (dial up, dsl and t1) but got the same problem and the download never completes. So this is a little frustrating...

Also, after installing the update for FAR Manager and just before clicking on "Enter the Matrix" button, I am only given two boot scripts namely: K600_CID36 and Z800_CID36 as opposed to LiveDevil's screenshot which had K750_W800_CID36.

and is NOT applicable to w800i R1BC002 APAC (Asia Pacific) or other regions...
as they can harm the phone if it's patched with wrong firmware regions patch...

just dont want u to be blamed for dead phone caused by that patch...

How to edit the patches? By edit the codes using HexEditor? I'm sory, I don't understand the codes. Some of those patches is for ;W800 SW-R1BC002, so this is not for all RIBC002 (universal for all country)?

edit the patch? umm... it's kinda hard to explain...
but the important thing that u should know, is every patch is designed for a specific firmware version and region...
as i've briefly explained some posts above, if a patch is designed for w800i R1BC002 EMEA, then it will NOT be applicable for w800i R1BC002 APAC...
as u notice, both firmware's version i mentioned are the same... R1BC002
but still... the patch for one region (and version of course) doesn't compatible and should not be applied to other firmware versions and/or region... as it may harm the phone's system...

What is the software that can extract firmware (*.bin), so we can copy original files from each firmware such as games, message alerts, spash screen... etc? Where I can get that software?

restart ur pc, turn off ur phone, remove the batt for a few seconds, put it back, press and hold C button, then plug to usb cable, do not release c button until windows detected "USB FLASH" (ur phone should be turned on right now) and asks for a driver (u can release the c button now)...
point to the EPIUSB.INF file...
after installation, u can unplug ur phone, and try again...

without finalizing process, u can't use ur phone (it's not dead... just not usable)

hi guys, ive read through this thread, did everything been told, but im stuck with 13.7 Davinci client. As i push test cable / read CID button, and while pressing C, i connect my phone (turned off), but nothing happens in Davinci, and on the phone the white screen comes up, and the phone starts itself. The funniest part of this is that with the newest davinci, i can test the cable / read phones CID perfectly..

Ive uninstalled PC Suite, all K750 drivers, reinstalled them, tryed to download the drivers from various locations, but it didnt help. BTW I've a Vodafone branded K750i w/ R1CA021.

Please some1 help me.

do not use the latest da vinci...use version 13.7
also make sure u installed the flash drive for u phone...NOT THE DRIVE FROM THE CD ROM.!!!!
GO FIRST PAGE the first post last sentence to get the driver. hope this helps.

i know i have to use 13.7, but i told that its working with the latest client, sadly i cant flash my phone without finalization.

im using the drivers were on the zip not on the CD, the EPIUSB ones.

Its a one year old phone, it came with CID36 RED. with an other application, wrote by hendrix (IMHO supports only CID36 phones) i could easily change the CDA number, and update via SEUS, but the problem i got a vodafone branded W800i (i had vodafone branded k750i b4). So in this way u cant get a fully unbranded phone, thats why i would like to flash mine with davinci 13.7..
this is the ONLY one program that doesnt recognizes my phone.
Davinci latest client, hendrix's w800i.exe, Far manager with SEFP can recognize it, but that version cant.

BTW Davinci latest client says its a CID36 RED phone.

ok im really confused now.

yesterday, i "flashed" to w800i with hendrix's method. i thought maybe ill be able to get my phone recognized by Davinci 13.7, but no luck. Than i realized that latest davinci, nor SEFP doesnt recognizes it, but the w800i.exe does.

so i flashed back to k750i today but still nothing. I uninstalled all of the K750 / W800 drivers. ( used this guide : h**p://[Only registered and activated users can see links] reinstalled K750 drivers, and tried the EPIUSB, and the ggsemc flasher drivers.. No luck.

Now what?

i'll assume ur phone is CID36 RED then...
maybe u can try this...
plug ur DCU-60 (usb cable) to other USB port...
then turn off ur phone, remove the battery for a few seconds, then put it back...
press and hold C button, and (DO NOT RUN ANY PROGRAM) plug to USB cable.
do not release it, ur phone will turned on by itself (now u may release the C button). windows will detect new hardware, and ask for driver, browse and point to EPIUSB.INF file (USB Flash driver).
then try to check ur CID using davinci 13.7 again...
if the problem remains, try on other computer...

Ok guys, i've managed to fix it.

i deleted all of the drivers started with k750 and w800, ggsemc, and EPIUSB from c:\windows\system32\drivers

than i restarted my comp. started device manager, opened the USB Devices thing.

Connected my phone while pressing C, and K750 USB Flash appeared in device manager with a yellow exclamation mark next to it. quickly clicked twice on it, and i updated its driver (which i have deleted before). i clicked on i want to choose from the list, and pressed Have disk button. Searched for EPIUSB, install anyway, ok. disconnected phone, batt out, batt back, started 13.7 davinci, and tadaaam -> it recognized my phone.

ive flashed it successfully, so now i have a fully unbranded R1BC002 W800i

Sounds F***** up. Use the davinci client to read the CID. IF the phone responds you can just reflash and all will be well. If it does not; you need a battery recharge (a dead k750 will not charge) and a service cable and

Not gonna work. You said it yourself; w700 is CID49. Nobody is gonna share a gdfs, even if you could access the w700, because the bt address becomes identical, the imei becomes the same etc.

it's because only some part of the firmware that has been flashed to ur phone... and it's not complete...
read the 1st post in this thread... check ur CID first, if it's CID36, then i think ur phone will be alright...

Regarding the full flight mode patch for w800 r1cb002 apac. I've applied the patch and it works fine, but the signal bar is still displayed in the screen. Any chance this can be modified (flatlined signal bar..)?

because u haven't install the USB FLASH driver properly...
keep in mind... USB FLASH driver is NOT the same driver that came along ur phone in PC suite CD...

HI to all, i need some help here. I successfully flashed my friends k750i to w800i using the above tutorial last month. Now my friend wants to sell the phone, so he wants to retore it to k750 firmware. I tried SE Update Service, and it correctly detected the phone as a k750 (i was afraid it may detect a w800) and successfully flashed the phone. However, now some elements of w800 are still remaining and the phone is a messed up hybrid of k750 and w800!!!

The startup logo and menu colours are of walkman w800 but menu icons and music player are of k750. Can someone please help me on how to flash this phone at home to make it a full k750.:ilove:

download the k750i firmware (both MAIN and FS) from topsony, make sure u choose the right region! (eg. APAC, EMEA1, etc...)
then follow the tutorial in page 1...
and u'll get a fully restored k750i... :mrgreen:

I was download the new Davinci Sony Ericsson Flasher/Unlocker v15.8. This sofware said, it can flash K750i CID49. It is possible to flash my K750 CID49 to W800 CID36? Or change the CID from CID49 to CID36?

afaik, CID is located in OTP (One Time Programmable) chip and therefor, u can't change it...

second...
w800i with CID49 never exists, so u can't get w800i CID49 firmware...
and in the end, will cause u unable to flash a k750i CID49 to w800i (a CID49 phone can only use CID49 firmwares)

nothing's special with CID49... it's just a security scheme that SE made to protect it's phones from modders...
it's using much much tougher encryption method..

so the only thing u can do with DVT 15.8 is flashing it with other FS...
or unlock phones (for provider locked phones)
and besides... it will costs u some $

i messed up my phone. when i open far, after i connected my phone, no folder was found. i think they're deleted or something. can anyone send me everything inside FLASH AND FS folder in the phone? THANKS

explain what did u mean by messed up ur phone...
if u can't see FLASH and FS folder, mostly u just have to re-install the epiusb driver and/or move ur usb cable to other usb port...

ok, ive download SEFP Version 0.10.0.44 i think this should work right?

version 0.10.0.44 is the latest if i'm not mistaken... and of course, it can be use with the tutorial on the first page of this topic...
make sure u delete the SEFP directory under c:\program files\far\plugins\ before u extract the new version of SEFP...

I was flash my K750 to W800, and then i copy "Complete" files (from topsony, APAC) to tpa/preset/custom. It's work. But when I check the phone: Setting/Connectivity/Internet Settings/Security/Java certificate/... the list is only Sony Ericsson. No other list. The original List (before flashed) is Twathe, GTE CyberTrust, VeriSignClass3. How to make this custom like the original?

How to change PERMISSION option in the Java Middlet (Read/Write user data). I ever read about Thawte root certificate that can add permission "Never Ask" everytime we access Java middlet. I was check my phone's certificate using Far Manager, and it was included Thawte Premium. But i still find that default perrmission everytime i access Java. The default is : No and Always Ask.

I was told that u can change the volume settings of the k750i using FAR to mke the volume up to double the original volume settings that came with the phone.

if anyone does know how to change the volume settings plz put up a tutorial on how to do it plz.

I upgraded my firmware using Sony Update Service. But when i was in the middle of upgrading my software, the connection was cut the the SUS stopped. I disconnected my phone and retried. But now, the SUS indicated that my phone is already updated. But when i opened my phone, and used >*<<*<*, there was an error listed in the software details.

How can i redo the upgrading? is there a software for me to use to do this?
