Note:

Create 5 folders in your Far Manager folder.

1 should be named "Menu_edited"
1 should be named "Menu"
1 should be named "Layout_remove_scrollbars"
1 should be named "Layout_original"
and 1 should be named "icons"

When u open one of the .rar files, then u'll see some different things - in this case, u'll see a folder called "layout_remove_scrollbars", a thm file (just tranfer that to ur phone like an ordinary theme), some .gif's with the name "icon", and a file called menu.ml.

The file called layout.xml (which is in the "layout_remove_scrollsbars"-folder) is the one u must place in the "Layout_remove-scrollsbars"-folder at the Far Manager folder.
The .gif's should be placed at the folder called "icons".
And the menu.ml file should be placed at the "menu_edited"-folder.

Now we're all set and ready!


Way of doing this:

1. Install Far Manager, SE Flash Plugin & USB Flash drivers.

2. Open Far Manager, push Alt + F1, and then press 0.

3. Then make sure that the settings are as show, but without the "Flow" and "Boot script". Push "Enter the Matrix"

4. Turn off your phone, and hold "C" down while inserting the USB Cable. You have to do this within 60 secs, or the whole progress must be restarted!

5. Press the "FS" folder while still holding "C" down.

6. Then the screen will look like this!

7. Go to tpa/preset/system/menu
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

8. Delete the file called menu.ml
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

9. Open the folder called "menu_edited" at ur Far Manager directory.

10. Mark the file called "menu.ml" and press F5.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

11. Then press copy.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

12. Then open the "icons"-folder and copy those files, too, into the same directory!

13. Then go to the folder called /tpa/system/layout and replace the layout.xml file with the one from the Far Manager directory.

14. Press the "..." button untill this banner comes up. Press "yes".

Now u should have new menu icons and a new menu!

Note:

Do a backup of your files no matter what!

If u don't do it properly, then ur phone could be scrued, but i tried it out for like an hour ago, and I found it very easy to do, and the result was very nice!

i just found out that the se_flash_plugin does not support phones wit CID49. apparently, all those new phone manufactured in 2006 wit R1CA021 firmware are CID49.. so guess i'll just hafta wait...

How to create your own menu with icons!!


!! This tutorial is based on Adobe Photoshop CS 2 !!

A trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS 2, can be downloaded at their website, and the attached zip file, is a little "helper", which can generate serials and registration numbers! Cheers!


First of all, make sure you know:


How the layout should be (3x4 icons, circle, line etc)

Which (layout.xml) and menu.ml files you'll need

Which colours you want to use

EXTRA: You could also create a theme that goes with the menu!! Just download Themes Creator from Sony Ericsson right here:

!! This tutorial is based on the creation of a line-layout, because that's the easiest one !!


1. Start with an empty drawing (should be around 166 pixels (width) x 144 pixels (height) and name it "icon1_selected"

2. Create the icon for the PlayNow-button!

3. Create a new drawing, again with the same measurements, and name it "icon2_selected".

4. Now create the Internet-button!

5. Just continue like this untill you have created all 12 icons, but remember they MUST NOT be bigger than 166x144 pixels - actually, they should be around 150x135 pixels or something...

6. Now we have got all the icons and the menu.ml file - we're ready to transfer!

7. From now on, all of your files, are just like the archives u can download at the first post in this thread!

8. That means just follow the instructions at post #1 in this thread, and u'll be able to transfer ur new menu!


Note:

Always have a backup file of your original menu.ml file and the layout.xml file!!
That way u'll be able to recover your menu, if the one u made, gets scrued up!

It's pretty easy to create the other kinds of menus, too - just take a look at the contatinings of the archives at the first post, then u can just replace them with some new icons, that looks like the original!

This screenshot isa new menu i created, but as u can see, the icons doesn't fit the screen correctly - and that's my fault, so remember to have some space between the outline and the icons!

In this post I've also attached the "line"-menu.ml, so that everybody can create their own "line"-menu!

I've also attached the "3x4 icons"-menu package and the "circle"-menu package!

I know... But I had no trouble downloading the firmware version (for example) with the davinci tool... and i ain't a member...

actually only the finalization process which needs u to pay for the log...

i heard v13.8 wont allow u to flash ur phone without buying their log...

4. Press Alt + F1 and select "SEFP" or press "0". But make sure that your phone is connected to the PC!

5. Then make the screen look like this and then press "Enter The Matrix"!

6. Now you'll have to pull out your phone from the cable, take out the battery, put it back in, and hold down the "C"-key, while you plug in the cable again!

8. When the loading part is over, then press the folder called "FS", but still you MUST hold down the "C"-key - at least untill the second loading part starts!

10. Then press "Preset" (I also coloured this one red!)

Note:

It may take some extra time for the phone to startup just after this operation, but that's because you've just access your phone's software - no need to be scared!

Some of the archives also contain edited "menu.ml"-files and "layout.xml"-files. This is what you do if so:

Replace the original "menu.ml"-file with the edited version.

Replace the original "layout.xml"-file with the edited version (instructions are included in the archive!)


If you want to, you can also install the theme that is in the archive, too!

Haha... Go to the FAR Manager directory, and u'll see a folder called "plug-ins", open that folder, and paste the SE Flash Plug-in folder in there... Then it's installed! :D

yeah almost! not skulls but rather gothic crosses,swords,pentagram symbols,etc, dark colours like black in contrast with dark red gothic fonts like 'Lucida Blackletter' fonts.. i know it may take some time but the message icon for example, could be a very old letter (like a very very old treasure map) with torn edges and some blood stains on it etc! lol!

try taking out ur sim card first..

Off topic but with the reg file I included you can flash your se's for longer. It regs the far manager so it is not an eval version. Should work for many versions to come until this key is blacklisted (even if it is; the current version of far which this works on is fine for sefp).

Dude... are u sure u got to fs/tpa/presets/menu/system?? Caus what i see on this picture is that u only got to the FS-folder... and that's a common mistake, because u forget to keep on holding the C-key down - u must KEEP ON HOLDING THE C-KEY DOWN WHEN U ACCESS THE FS-FOLDER - As soon as the loading-window comes up, then let go, but not before.

Here's what u must do... oh i'm sure that i'm still hoding the "c"...the boot/loading menu will dissapear before the time alloted in it. plus if you can see...the far manager i have..has an "evaluation period up" splashed down it.i've downloaded all requirements...followed it throught the letter...but still no luck. it might have been a cool mod but it's not working.

extract it anywhere u want, and double click the .reg file... re-run ur FAR manager... no more evaluation.. :mrgreen:

nope it didnt..same prob...no fs/tpa/presets/menu and of course no menu.ml to be found....did it 10x already...open far, enter matrix, see dialogue of hold c and connect usb..did that..then proceeded to a menu with flash and fs, chose fs..then nothing....

okay i'm jumping thread's just to get everything done now...i've reached up to go to menu "fs/tpa/presets/menu/system" but no menu.ml or any....even if i have chosen the w550i option at the start..plus my far manager has a "evaluation period up" splashed on it.

oh i'm sure that i'm still hoding the "c"...the boot/loading menu will dissapear before the time alloted in it. plus if you can see...the far manager i have..has an "evaluation period up" splashed down it.i've downloaded all requirements...followed it throught the letter...but still no luck. it might have been a cool mod but it's not working.

from the same questions asked by many of people, i can only say it's NOT connected yet with ur phone...
so FAR would only shows FLASH and FS...
if ur phone is really connected with FAR, once u press ENTER on FS folder, FAR will read ur phone's File System and shows the folders and files in it... (u'll see a screen with progress bar showing that it's reading the content of ur phone's file system...)

Upgrade from older sefp plugins. The latest version does not have the w550i bt script.

EDIT: Forget that. I've uploaded the SEFP folder of mine. It has the latest sefp upgraded from all the older versions. Extract to the Far\Plugins\ directory. This has all the bin files and boot scripts. I've successfully modded my k750 with this.

I've just created one, but i can't attach it right now, caus it aint 100% complete - minor bugs... :D But i'll come some day... :D

the msg like unable open epiusb or something like that
always appear so i give up
i wanna do it for my w800 but >.< didn't work

Get the epiusb driver (you can get it from livedevil's post about putting w8 fw on a k750) and extract it to the desktop.
Go to device manager,choose show hidden devices.
Find all the usb flash device's and delete them.
Take out the battery of your phone and take out the sim. Put in the battery and connect the cable to your comp but not your phone.
Hold C and keep the cable connected to your phone.
Keep holding C until your phone comes on and windows comes up the add new hardware wizard.
Choose the advanced option and click where it says include the location in the search.
Choose browse and choose your desktop.
Let it install. Take out the cable from your phone and switch off the phone. Load up FAR manager and go to the sefp plugin.
Choose DCU-60, 921500, CTS,DTS and the boot script should be something like: k750_w800_script?.
Choose enter the matrix. Now hold C and plug the cable into your phone. FAR should display summat like "ChipID 32 24 43 234 23 32 k750/w550/w800 detected". Keeping C held down choose FS. When it is loading you can let go ;)

EMMM...TILL NOW I CANT USE THIS FAR MANAGER...MY PHONE KEEPS TURN ON N ON USING 4 DIFFRENTS COMPUTERS...POOR ME...:cry:

The 1st time I attemped to flash my k750; my phone did turn on but to only install the driver.After that; it only comes on when no programs is trying to access the flash (seus.far...).When a program like far manager,seus or the k750flasher wants to use the flash function; when I hold C it does not come on. Basially (spelling) I'm saying is your w500i when turned on; coming up as a flash device.

If it still does not work delete the epiusb driver and all usb flash devices and seus and download the latest version and flash to the latest version. Doing that will install a newer sony ericsson flash driver I believe (at least it's differently named; that driver might work for ur w550). Also as a totally optional thing; seeing if the upgrade works with the seus so your phone isnt acting up.

Or try using another menu.ml file, from another archive - but remember the icons from the other archive must have the same name as the ones in the 16th menu... Like this: If the 16th menu's icons are called "icon1_unselected", "icon1_selected", then the other menu's icons must also be named liked that... or u can edit the menu.ml file by using notepad...

Aquadock Extreme - 6 Item Main Menu Fullscreen Style (credit to b1naryb0y for the original "aquadock" naming idea)

I just spent about 12 hours in front of the computer, hacking my menu.ml file to bring the total number of main menu items down to 6. I've done this because one of the problems with the matrix style menu is that there are many different directions so you have to think a bit more when selecting the menu item you want.

The fullscreen menu style solves this problem because once in the menu you can navigate by pressing the joystick in one axis (instead of three for the matrix style). However 12 menu items in this format is too many. By reducing it to 6 menus, you can very quickly and very intuitively access any of the main menus.

For example, I've added Messaging, Calls, and Contacts as sub-menus into a menu called "Phones". I've added messages and contacts to the shortcut menu for quick access, so I don't need them in the main menu.

These are the main menu items and their sub menus ("Phones" comes up first when you press the joystick):

Phones - Messaging, Contacts, Calls, Email
Multimedia - Wlakman, Radio, Games, Sound recorder, Camera, DJ's
Organiser - standard options less the applications menu.
Internet - Links to internal webpage for launching phone browser
Tools - File Manager, Applications (you can use this menu to add shortcuts to java utilities)
Settings - Standard options.

All the important menu options that are normally available exist in this menu.ml, but some main menu items have been moved to submenus. Some non-essential submenus I've removed altogether such as Simkit, Myfriends.

I've edited images from other peeps icon sets, but keep in mind the images I'm offering here are SAMPLES ONLY, I didn't aim for high quality. They are only so that peeps can test out the menu.ml before designing their own images. I have edited most of them heavily so don't take the crap editing of mine as an example of the excellence of the orginal artists (including images from the aquadock and MACOSX packages - thanks b1naryb0y and Abhijit for your inspiration)

The icons look great with the vodka theme I've included in the pack.

I hereby grant a GNU Open Source Licence for the changes I've to the menu.ml code. This means you can do anything you want with my code, but don't try to copyright it yourself. :-) I am not responsible for what you do to your phone. This codes works flawlessly on both the K750 R1CA001 and the W800 R1BC002 tested with.

Instructions

1. Unpack the archive and copy menu.ml and all images into /tpa/preset/system/menu
2. copy the DESKTOP_HOOK_2 folder to /tpa/preset/system/custmenu/ (include all contents of DESKTOP_HOOK_2).
3. copy the contents of the "default" folder to /tpa/preset/system/wap/opmenu/default

It's that simple!

Important NOTES for DESKTOP_HOOK_2: desktop_hook_2.xml uses a hook which calls up the index.html file that sits in the /tpa/preset/system/wap/opmenu/default folder. So by editing the index.html file you can make the "Internet" menu bring up your own webpage (stored locally on the phone) of links. This also starts the internal web browser without launching a gprs connection.

Depends on the file names of the icons and what style is it (rotation,dock style etc). Anyway, seeing as you have to flash the icons in anyway, you may as well include the menu.ml.

Although AFAIK the only layout.ml file is for no scrollbars so that is optional to install or replace.

TIP: If the menu.ml and layout.ml is changed DONT do a master reset. I did and I couldnt get into my phone (coulnt select start phone). I had to reflash my phone (granted I had to reflash my phone because my walkman started going weird (another hint; dont flash with apac f/w and use an emea seus f/w) . Although it is said if you make those files read only in your phone you can do one.

P.S Baronic what happened to your k750i. I remember you saying you like the design of the k750i better :P

@qwerty111 good memory u have there. yep, manufacturing defect kept forcing me to send k750i for repairs. so i traded in with my cousin for a free w800i

Nice offer there lolz. ah well my k750 is flashed with the w800i firmware. Anyway here are the original files. The layout file goes in the /tpa/system/layout folder and the menu file goes in the /tpa/preset/system/menu. Originally the only file in the menu folder is the menu.ml.

P.S An addenum on to my "tip", if you do an master reset;change the theme back to default. I had this black sony ericsson theme set but when it got messed up the theme elements "evaporated" so i was left with a black and white theme and even after flashing it stayed like that when it booted until the setup wizard set the theme to default. w00t :supz:

I think it's probably that u haven't installed the EPIUSB drivers.. Check the tutorial. :weedman:

Here's the one with episub.sys(the old one). Works perfectly fine with my W800i. If uncertain pm the mods.:lol:

Does any body can have original menu image for K750 and W800? I know if we can reset the menu only by copy the original menu.ml but i want the original menu images (*.png).

they're located somewhere in the MAIN flash...
not in FS...
so no one will have the original icons...
besides... what are u going to do with those original icons??? (even if they're really exists)
if u want to revert back ur icons to the original, u can simply replace the menu.ml file with the original one, and remove the icons (.png or .gif) files...
that way, ur phone will display the original menu icons...

I know, I just wanna change My K750 become to W800 fitur, with K800 icon/menu and layout/font. In K800 menu, there are no WALKMAN icon but Music player Icon. I wanna change it to Original Walkman Icon. Nevermind, I can make WALKMAN icon by my self.

Sometimes I wanna change the phone image (Calls and Internet Service) from W800 icon to K750 icon, but with Walkman Icon, not Media player Icon.

I wanna ask, when the firs time i change menu.ml, and restart my phone, my phone coudn't work normaly. An error occured when I access Menu. I get a comment like this: "This occur in the menu.ml file. This may render the menu unusable". Why these can happened? Is there any error with the menu.ml file?

usually, it happens because the menu.ml uses wrong icon file ext.
eg. the menu.ml file tells the phone system to load icon1_unselected.png to replace the first icon...
it will work fine if u have icon1_unselected.png file in the same directory as the menu.ml file...
but it will not work, if u have icon1_unselected.gif...
since the menu icons on internet have no standard, u must check the ext manually...
if the icons are in png format, then the menu.ml must point to those png icon files, and not to .gif

so there is no support whatsoever for the w600? I've tried several times.. =[

Hy i m a newbie here and doesnt know anything abt How to change icons well i read the forum but i have just bought a new W810i cell my question is that is it necessary to replace the menu file every time to change the menu and like in W810i the default themes have diff icons in diff themes so i wanna know that after replacing the files every theme will display the same altered menu...? and can i add more than one menu or only one menu style works and if u want another u have to do the whole process again...?

ie. u wanna backup menu.ml file to ur computer...
simply highlight menu.ml file on the left pane of FAR manager (ur phone), then press F5 (copy), a small window will pop up, press enter / return once...
menu.ml will be copied to the right pane (ur computer's harddisk, which is set to C:\program files\far by default)
