Hey guys...

Am writing in from India (New Delhi).

Well, I HAD bot a Rio Cali 256 MB MP3 player via a friend in U.S.

The player was rocking until a week back, I loved everything it had...

I even had a SanDisk SDMMC 512MB card in it!

Now it even doesn't boot! I have tried to replace the battery but no luck!

Also, I connected the player to my PC but it is not recogonized!

NO indication is there on the screen.

Actually i was caught in a sudden shower while i was on my way back from the office (on my bike) on the evening a day before. The player was ok when i had shut it off properly after reaching my place. after that the story starts....It just won't powerup again!!

Well, I referred a disassembly document over the net and pried open the cali sucessfully and also used a mild drier for drying out the moisture (if any that is). I wasn't able to power it back on inspite of everything :-(

I really wanted to have the player back working as it has become a very important part of my daily routine! The only company I had while joggin...

I did not find any burn out parts or anything (as far as I can tell with the naked eye)

I still don't think that it got wet... Something else is the problem.

I am really shocked that this has happened in such a short time! The player has been with me for only a year now.

Kindly advise on what actions should i take.

By the way. it is a black stick cali...

I really do not know what to do...

Kindly telll me what to do or guide me where I could take the player for repair!! (here in Delhi if possible)

I have tried mannnnyyy forums but no help yet!

Also, pls advise me a new player "incase" this issue is abandoned! I am actually into jogging / running and would require something where I can reuse my 512 MB card. (a total of about 1GB of memory would be fantastic...)

But still I would love if this guy wakes up!!

Pls help me if anybody can!!!

Regards

C.K.

i think properly is water damage.. try to open up the player if you have enough tools.. Clean it with contact cleaner. Or try to remove the batter for more than 30min for ensure no current leakage.. and put back see whether it works..

Hi!

Thanks for the reply! I have opened the player but have only been able to use a hair drier to dry any POSSIBLE water inside it.

I do not know what a contact cleaner is? Kindly let me know. Also, if I take it to any local electonics person, would he be able to do anything??

Pls PLs try to help and get it working back! I would be truly obligedand thankful!

Go to electronic shop and ask for non oily pcb board contact cleaner. Using of hair dryer can't really remove all the water, not safe. Even after clean still there is chances where the software corrupted due to electrical short..
