matey could you not just post a link to the entire zip file for th poi's then people can pick the ones that they want etc instead of having to post over and over! if the poi collection was too big to post in one go then you could split it or something.

just a thought to make it easier for peeps and yourself!

How many POIs can be added?

I tried to add over 700 (hehe) but i found that tomtom took a long time to load up and only files upto the name staring with F appeared. Any newly added POIs after F (eg.'Game Shops' ) did not appear on the list. This suggests that a limited amount of POI files can be added.

Anyone able to shed some light on this subject?

I suggest u all to download POIEdit, a shareware program that manages all of your poi (places of interest) files from your desktop PC and saves/loads them to/from your Mobile Device. PoiEdit also enables you to download a vast range of poi files from the most uses poi sides in e.g. the UK, Netherlands, France.

The plus of this freeware product is that it self syncronizes your pda with the most recent updates for the POIs you selected, and there is a list of free sites from where to download. Beware: some of them require a free registration, but you can add some more you find on the internet.

hi russell, thanks for the POIs, im having problems tho. i put the POIs in the map folder, and some of them work, but others dont. they dont appear in the poi menu, what i thought was strange is that it was the last 4 i put on the phone that are not working. which makes me think that there is a limit to the number of POIs that u can put on. is this true?

Yes you are right as they is a limit to POI files that you can have on tomtom mobile as i found the same thing out just last week......hope that helps you

Very nice info there on the poi files.....i have had to have a little re instal of tomtom 5.2 can anyone post the speed camera voices warning sounds please as the bells and whistles etc are driving me nuts and one sound the tom tom makes sounds like i am about to be attacked by the klingons but i am on the m1???...lol...any help appreciated.

Hi Russell,

Question for you, regarding the toll/congestion charge. The London zone is the one I'm more interested in. On 19/02/07 this will be extended to a much wider area, how is this updated?

Is it part of the mapping data? or is there something else to update.

The congestion charge can be part of the mapping data: the London one is for sure (just try a route to it and TT will warn you about toll charges).
So the maps will need update.

It can be set up also using POI's, as I have seen for others cities.
In this case TT will warn you only when you are about to enter the congestion charge area, like it does with speed cameras.

The OGG file is a sound file, to vocally tell you when you are near the POI, eg, Tesco supermarket ahead etc.

hi all,

i made this poi group last summer & haven't got round to sharing it until now.

90 something cornish beaches (there are more beaches in cornwall but i left out the rubbish ones) the poi's are located on the nearest carpark to the beach, normally right next to it, but in a few cases they are a bit farther i.e St Georges beach in Padstow is about a mile from the nearest carpark.

As a POI point of interest, I downloaded some POIs from Tomtom and 'Home' copied the same POIs to every map on the device. If you notice yours has slowed down - updating your position every five seconds or so - this could be the cause.

Here are some poi,s specialy for truckdrivers.
Includes:
All the German Autohoven/French Resto-Camion-restaurants and all the Les routiers members./For the UK
Transport_cafe/For the BNL the truckstops.
Also there are truckstops in Italy and Switserland but they are own made and i am still updating those file,s................
Finaly i have a request if there is maybe an Italian ipmart member who have made its own poi database of restaurants in Italy specialy for truckdrivers?

Tnxs but that file is a very small one. The one i made is bigger.
only 4 restaurants are in that file.Carisio/Campogaliano/Peschiera and Orte
I was hoping for a much bigger file because i Italy there are very much of these restaurants.
