Have you tested any/all of the voices on your N70? You mentioned you also own a Tomtom Go 500 unit and I'm sure I read somewhere that the voice frequencies are incompatible between GO & Mobile versions...???

How big are the files? Please could you maybe zip several of them together and upload them in batches?

Yes I've got a lot of the voices on both my Go 500 & my N70.

The biggest file is the bad santa - @ 2.2mb a few others are around the 1mb and quite a few are around the 500 to 700 kb, but which ever ones you want just post your request & I'll post them - I dont want to post any that no one will ever want.

well i am running tomtom 5.200 (443) on a nokia 6670 and there is some sort of problem with all the voices i have tried to use and i think it may be down to the bit rate of the voice files? ..so anyone sorted there voices out running on nokai series 60 phones? (not the 6600 as they run just wav/ogg) so any sugjestions appreciated.......

@ Candymut - can you try the lady newsreader voice posted above, if that works ok for you pick another one & I'll upload it so you can that one aswell. I'm pretty sure that all the above voices work on both my Go500 & N70.

It's definately to do with the bit rate/frequency of the audio track. Think I've got a few sorted out for you, the Catherine & Jacques voices are the standard French voices & LeGardien is an extra one.

Extract all the files from the zip folder and copy them all into the folder named "VOICES" on your memory card.

May I have Georgy Dubya Bush for Nokia 6260 :) I do not have that one in 16khz.

Also the other problem you had with switching voices & freezeing or slow, is quite simple to cure just resize the bitmap image for the celeb voice make it smaller i use 80x80 or 60x60.

Also this is a good cure for N70 owners resize your bitmap images for poi.s & speedcams.

Extract the files from the zip download, open the folder and copy the contents - eg. data01.chk , data01.vif & data.01bmp (the numbers will be different to 01) and put them ALL into the folder named ' voices ' on your memory card.

Which ones have you tried so far - have any of them been posted by me ? If they have then let us know exactly what you have done when installing them as no one else has had a problem with them yet.
Get this sorted out first & if you get them working I'll upload your requested voices.

Voices on different phones!!!!!


The reason some voices work and others don!t is due to the different bit rate Nokia uses for audio. On the 6260 and 6600 for example the max bit rate is 16kHz but on the 6630 & 6680 24kHz is the max. So if the voice file is compiled at 22kHz (which seems to be the most common) the 6260 & 6600 will not process it correctly and you get no sound!!!!!!!

The ones that dont work on nokia 7610 are in post 19 and 52 by Russell1
i just unzip them and copy them to voices on my mmc

What version of tomtom have you got & what have you got it installed on ? And what files did you install & where did you put them ?

5.21 installed on Dell Axim WM5, tomtom installed in main memory. I install the voices in the folder /Voices (main storage memory) and all other voices I tried worked fine (except for SMG which isn't recognised)

Most of them are the original tomtom voices - I think the celeb voices started off with no 60.

You can get the standard voices from tomtom - http://www.tomtom.com/plus/services/voices.php - choose your country from the drop down box.

If your PC can play .ogg files, then play the dataxx.chk file with the music player.
The format used by TT is ogg, even if the extension of the file is ".chk".

You can use Windows Media Player with the right codec ;)

I wasn't pretty disappointed at how "Homer Simpson" sounded.

How manyu of these voices are really made by the actual actor? John Cleese is one, obviously. Maybe Ozzy Osbourne? I don't know about the rest of them.

I have not tested these new ones yet but they should be ok!!! & work on TomTom-symbian_3 ppc go & one ect!!!, later n6680 & n70 should be ok!!, but they will not work on old nokia like 6600.

These voices are only for Tomtom software.

I do not have that one in 16khz.

Also the other problem you had with switching voices & freezeing or slow, is quite simple to cure just resize the bitmap image for the celeb voice make it smaller i use 80x80 or 60x60.

Also this is a good cure for N70 owners resize your bitmap images for poi.s & speedcams.

Boy there are so many voices - more than I thought.
I have a TT GO700 with the majority on, but there seems to be a few new ones out there!!
Anyway, to the pint of my posting.

I have got an N73, and loaded TT V6.01 onto it and it was running perfectly...until:
a) Loaded my own Voice from GO700
b) Loaded my speed Cameras from GO700
c) Set Speed cameras to "Warn when near"

I now have this "freezing" that a lot of people report.

I'm just a bit confused about the issue of sound files and your comment on bitmap size and wondered if you could help?

I understood that Mobile sounds were different to those on a GO... ie 16000khz as opposed to 22050Khz. Is there really a difference?

My Voice Bitmaps Properties are as follows:
Windows 3.x Bitmap Image
Height 160
Width 160
Horizontal Resolution 72
Vertical resolution 72
Bit Depth 24

My Speed Camera Bitmaps Properties are as follows:

To be honest with you all, I am pretty much disappointed with the qualities of these celeb voices.. They all sound so.. FAKE. I think Yoda is the only one which is similar enough to make believe myself it's real! Listen to Arnold and Ozzy.. Most voices which I could recognize and compare wiht the real ones, are pathetic.. waste of my memory space.

Yep. TTS only works with Loquendos TTS 'computer voices'.

dude..try doing manually.
put UK&IE-12.meta ( i think v805 is -12, whatever, its the .meta file ) from ur map folder, also the ov2 & ver safety cam file in insert_meta_from_map_here folder in easyusetools folder.

use RunMeforDCT, option 2 ( upto nav 8002 ) then option 1 ( insert_meta_ folder ), type ur Device ID ABCDE12345 ( use ur code, no spaces, all capitals )

should get an OK for map meta & safety cam ov2 & a prompt to copy back .DCT to map folder. go into insert_meta_from_map_folder & they'll be 2 new files. UK&IE-12.meta.dct & safety_cam .dct ( obviously proper names will be there, to long for me to type over & over now ). copy all to map folder & you're sorted.

You have to put the Arnold Swarzenegger files in the the tomtom folder and it should work.

i dont know any thing about n95 , but,
try to move voice folder to same directory where yer tomtom is

On N95 (TT6) additional voice files can go either in the E:\voices\ directory or E:\tomtom\.

Both should work.
If the voice doesn't work means it's the voice itself that has problems (some of the ones posted here don't work).
Try to find another one.

I have a small problem with voices. I am using a generic GPS with TomTom installed with 720.1868 version of Australian map installed. Works very well, but I would like to be able to have TTS. The version of TomTom supports TTS, but I cannot find how to instal computer voices, or find comuter voices, onto the Sd card. The original installation was done without using TTHome, so I have no idea how to use this, so simple instructions appreciated.

Yes I copied all 3 files. I have well over 100 voices that work fine.
The only difference with this voice is it was not a free voice it
was a pay for type and that's why I was wondering if it was keyed to
the device id.

i dont think so i ve gotten payed voices from other people and they work for me.do you see it on your tt?hook it up to pc open your voice folder and click on the pics of voices and see if you see it.also there is or was an r rated cartman on tt home not sure if there anymore.here is stewie and the cartman and the mr t that i have.hope they are allowed if not admin take off.data 84 cartman,data 46 stewie,data 93 mr. t.

Ensure for each voice that you copy the 3 files (dataXX.vif, dataXX.chk & dataXX.bmp).

This is the Aperture Science Glados Voice... I don't remember where I got it from but it works and it's pretty good... hope you like it.

Does anyone have the REAL MR T, celebrity voice ? Not the 93.chk version thats been out a while, I mean the new one with the real mr T ?

Would someone help explain if a Patch is needed for Pay for
TomTom voices. Someone gave me a voice called "The Don"
and I would really like to get it working.

The person who purchsed it said it works fine on his unit but
said someone else he gave it to had the same problem as I am with
it not working on their unit.

KKen post it for others to D/l and then you'll get more of an answer when others have tried it.People will often tell you where you've gone wrong.

Just a word of warning. A lot of us many many voices, but something you really have to watch out for with the downloads is that you do not over-write a voice you already have. You may need to change the voice number to one that is free and not already being used. All I can really say is experiment with the numbers and you are able to adjust the numbers according to your system so that you can have lots of different voices.

When I was playing around with voices, I had something like 190 different ones, but you really do have to play around with the numbers as some coincide with others. So please do not assume that if you download, say 137 voices all will work and the chances are, so will overwrite some of your existing ones.

Easiest method is to manually try a new voice at a time and give it a unique voice slot and build up your voice file gradually from those you download.

In the end, you will probably get bored by them if you use a top-end GO model and revert back to computer voices. I must admit the novelty wore off with my very quickly. SexySelina gets very tiresome after a few minutes!!!! and the others are not much better. John Cleese lasted a lot longer.

Of the language voices, Oana from Romania has the worst pronounciation I have ever encountered, I must get my gf to record the directions correctly in a clear manner, but so far, we just fall about laughing. Same with the Russian one. I must get a friend to record it too. But everytime we start, something causes us to fall about laughing.

i can see where kken is coming from.everytime i dowloaded a big pack of voices that had bubba and surferboy,they never worked for me ever.so im thinking its because they are voices from tomtom website just like dom is.sounds like it needs a fourth file or something like you said earlier.does anyone have don,bubba or surferboy and if so how many files are associated with them?
