I have not tried it, but I've read somewhere that it can be done, but only by using a PPC emulator on your PC & using the PPC version of tomtom. There is not proper PC version of tomtom though.

No, thanks, I got already maps (although I must check if I got latest version). Maps can always be found here and there. The main thing missing in other threads and most downloads is a proper tutorial on how to install it properly on SD card (TomTom Navigator for PPC) TomTom mopbile is easy but Navigator always automatically intalls itself on the phone, and often voices are missing (depending on quality of tutorial...)

I don't think that the PPC version can only be installed onto the memory card though :(.

Hi Jrhoop, this one is the same software & map version you've already got, so do you still need another copy of it ? And yes it should work on a 6680 as it works ok on my N70. It's too big to post here as a zip - its over 100mb, but should be able to sort it out for you somewhere.

Found this solution on another forum - can't try it out myself, but if anyone tried it can you post your results here.

In the phone/my documents/tomtom folder, make sure that you put in a small BMP file, doesn't matter what the picture is called, just so long as it is there. That will make TT work on the spv.
Please note, this is not the tomtom folder on your storage card.

this does not work on N80. I think we will wait a long time for tomtom to get this work on symbian 3rd edition.

i cant get this to work. loaded it on a memory card as instructed. tried it on a nokia 6680 an spv e200 AND m500.

only m500 has file explorer to navigate to the program. 6680 said corrupt card and e200 didnt autolaunch and there is no pther way to get new programs up. if someone knows how to get this to work please let us know

Hi gurry - it should work ok on a 6680 - but I dont know about the other 2 phones. If you are having a card error message try formatting your memory card first - use FAT & not FAT32 to format the card. Then try again - let us know how you get on. Are you using a card reader to transfer the files ?

Indeed, there is the C500, which is a smartphone (needs TomTom Mobile), and M500 (aka HTC Magician), which is a pocketPC (needs TomTom Navigator).

Only the app is different, but the maps are inter-compatible.

You should be ok with an older map - we don't get many new roads in North Wales - but have got plenty of mobile speed cameras.

No not yet - the June database was released on the 30th June, so the next ones out should be at the end of this month.

My bad... I was just being silly - I created a folder called TomTom on my memory card and put all the files in there... I just realised they are meant to go in root.

Having a problem I downloaded file unzipped it opened tom tom folder and copied the tom tom exe file and folders to my memory card now when I try to open tom tom in "my own" the screen goes blank for a second and then goes back to my own folder. I am using a n70 and I copied the files over using a card reader. Any help would be most appreciated

Support for Navigator 6 is on a per-phone basis, not on operating system.
Navigator 6 is a heavier more advanced program than mobile 5 was and requires more processing power and memory to run properly.

(!!!As far as we know at this point there are plan to (*create a last update for Mobile 5 to allow the use of version 6 maps with it*), but we cannot say this with 100% certainty at this point!!!).

We will let you know through the TomTom newsletters when this information becomes available.

Tomtom 6 maps won't work with tomtom 5.20 :(. Don't think there have been any new maps out for 5.20 for some time now.

hello I have been searching through the forums to find someone who might be able to help me get the files going on my Nokia 9500 symbian S80 phone.
I have the PPC version with Australian MAps but want to use on my Nokia. I have tried the S60 version but it comes up with error Unable to find specified object.(-1) what can I do? I have most of the files but not sure what it cant find.

To install this copy extract the zip - you should then have a folder named 'TomTom Mobile 5.20 inc latest v6 map'. Open this folder & then copy all the contents directly onto your memory card.
This version is in Dutch (I think ?) To change it to English :-
Get the menu up, scroll down to no.5 - picture of a spanner by it & select (it's change preferences) - then scroll to page 5 - go down to option 4 - picture of 3 flags, this is Switch Language - then choose the language you want.
To get this to work on a N70 go to your menu, find the folder named 'My Own' & select & open the Tomtom icon. Should be very similar method for other handsets.

I tried all tricks of changing the folder name and place but still "no maps found". do I need a different map or a different version of the software?

Generally you need a map 5xx.xxxx to run on Tomtom 5, and a 6xx.xxxx map for Tomtom 6.

The exception is 660.1223 maps which are designed for Tomtom 5. There are Australia maps available for both TT5 and TT6, so search and ye shall find...

It could be that my Tomjon didn't get the versionnumbers right but otherwise I'm pretty sure the following v6 maps also work on TT mobile 5.202:
