friends i am using a pc with two hardisk drive
hdd 0 and hdd1
both are bootable and contains different os
like win 98 and win xp in hdd 0
and win vista and linux in hdd 1

while booting i wanted to select which hdd to boot from
i.e hdd 0 or hdd 1 and accordingly i can select the option
but should be by default assigned to any shortcut key
i.e if that key is pressed while booting then only i should be asked for the option
else the system should be booted by default disk i have selelcted in options\settings\bios
i.e each and every time it should not ask to select hdd for booting

"please do not recommend to go to bios setting and change each and evey time my first booting drive\boot sequence"

it is time consuming and borring to

i wanted the option like while booting through win-98 if function key F7 is pressed we get various option

in similar fashion if any pre assigned key is pressed it should asked for option
for which hdd to boot from

help me please

You could use a boot manager to solve your problems, for example GAG - the Graphical Boot Manager.

mate,

if u have win xp os on one of ur hdd, then u have to boot the winxp boot disk and select the recovery console by pressing r, then on the dos prompt you have to type bootcfg /add, then press enter, then it will scan ur windows installation, once it is detected add it...other option is bootcfg /rebuild...u can find more on this command by typing bootcfg /?...

cheers, hope this will help...
