i've recently bought a seagate ovation 120gb portable harddisk, i've checked the device on other computers and it works, but when i plugged it into my com, it doesn't detect any device, there're 3 indicators on the portable harddisk, all's lighted up, except for one which says R/W, which is blinking......at first i thought there wasn't enough power supplying it, but when i plugged in the extra power usb cable it gives out a beeping sound.......help anyone?

see if any read write lock is on......mine has a read write lock and at first it didnt function and then i put the lock in off position and everythin was smooth.

no detection at all or detect error? how about other usb device on your computer ok?

where did you plug the usb? in the host or extended port?
if could, try another/all port, because some external hd report error or useless if using a extended usb port
btw, what os are you using?
