I have recently used 2 HP laptops & the AC adaptors/PSU get REALLY REALLY HOT-like they're burning up just about to melt or something :( seems like this is common on HP's! (PSU original supplied with laptop). Other manufacturer laptop supplied chargers get quite hot but NOT this hot!

Yes They Do Get Quite Hot But They Say That It Does Not Affect Its Function....so Things Are Okay....

However battery life is too short on hp. My Pavilion battery is just a year old and hardly lasts 20 min.

Your hps are weird. My brother's hp (nc6120, 1 year old)is working nearly noiseless. Battery can last up to 5 hours. Maybe try to update the bios your laptops - it might help a lot.

one year old laptop with 20+ minutes battery life is really too short. I would say 40 - 1hr will be acceptable. but it greatly depends on how you use it. If you on your bluetooth and wifi all the time, then different story.

yes m8 kindly even get your battery checked coz your HP must be in warranty or you must have opted for an extended warranty from HP...
BTW your back up as is said before may be just bout normal if your PC uses the Bluetooth and Wlan too often also you may be using the screen brightness at max (default on battery power is the dimmest possible for that display...but some including me sometimes keep it bright ;-) )
Hope this helps

AFAIK AC adaptors that get too hot or burning hot is not normal, better get it checked before it does any damage to your notebook.

Mine is HP DV2098EA, my concern is the DVD drive.
Does anybody experience here that it's sometime cumbersome to eject the drive without any CD/DVD inside or even with?

I have dv2104eu and i love it!! DVD has no problems at all, mine is very quick. although some copied cds i have, if they have too many scratches then it won't read them, even though my PC will and my hifi will.....
in response to hakika, don't buy toshiba!!! you get a LOT more for your money with HP. I have upgraded to 2gbram which alows me to use 256mb of graphics, great for gaming! do the same.

hi! im using hp pavilion dv9000, 2 months old. its battery lasts for about 1.5 hours. is this just normal or what?

it's the one with geforce go 7600 and intel core duo, right? It also depends whether you are doing something (like playing, watching films), or nothing. If it's for the first option it's ok and nothing's wrong. But if it's the second - it's not quite normal for such a power saving computer.

so many people saying dont buy HP, i know a few peeps who have Dell and Toshy's and they are constantly complaining and think their notebooks are crap. Everyone has their own opinion....
my notebook is now 2 years old, its a zd8000, P4 3.4ghz, 1gb ram, 100gb 7200 rpm disk, 256 x600 graphics, , 17" lcd at 1680x1050, has wireless, bluetooth, 4 usbs, memory car reader, PCI express slot, hp digital drive slot, harman/kardon speakers.....
but a crap battery life, 1 hr max on battery...
but hey, it still gets lots of comments on the screen, and how well it still performs......
will be hard to change, which i think will be soon....2.5yrs is a good run for a Notebook that is used for business and pleasure....runs approx 13hrs a day...
p.s. keep the vents and fans clean or it will cause overheating and crashes...

I have an hp dv6000t and it has the same specs as dv2000t. The only difference is that dv2000t series has 14.1 inch display whereas the dv6000t has 15.4 inch display. Nevertheless there isn't much difference in the specs and i have been using my laptop for 3 months now without a single problem. Have to say that it is very reliable..
