??????? candy please confirm, in which cases i can get the error, coz i need to make the partitions asap. i wnt be using on battery, will be on ac power, so i think it can reduce the chances of any kinda error. configuration is okie.

It is still strongly recommend that you backup your important data before you do this.. Just in case any accident..

Why? what do you need 3 partitions for lol especialy on an 80 gig drive its not as if its that huge anyway is it.

Oh and the easiest way is to just install one of the linux distros like lindows, they when you install them will make you a partition for it so you can duel boot from xp and lindows/whatever. once done just delete/format the partiton from device manager in xp and you have a clean partition to use :).

Mind partition magic is a piece of piss as well lol....

Defragment your harddisk first.
If you have a 80GB hdd & plan to split to 40GB each partition, try to have max 20GB data... -> faster re-partitioning process.

if ur the notebook came with recovery program which embbeded in the hardisk, pls back up the recovery program by burn it out into cd/dvd.otherwise after doing partition with partition magic.it would be corrupted.then when you turn off ur laptop, you will be prompted with end program everytime.be alert.regards.
