I'll start with how to create your own phonebook for the Go 500 & 700 if you are unable to import your contacts from your handset - I've got a N70 and could not import, & there are several other handsets that dont have this facility either.

Create a new NOTEPAD document on your pc & name it :-

contacts

Then add your own contacts exactly as below - dont miss any " " , " "

"Russell1 Home","01234567890"
"Russell1 Work","012340987656"
"Russell1 Mobile","07788112233"

Save it then copy to your memory card (or hard drive on a Go 700)
