View Full Version : You Dont need an apps to convert your favorite video clips and MTVs use 3gpp2(*.3g2)
TitanX 9th July 2006, 23:13 Hi Guys!:iphonepost:
Just today I discovered that there is 3gpp2 (*.3g2) format that works just fine. I was trying all sorts of MP4 video formats but it just frustrates me that nothing played on my N80. So i decided to switch to 3gp. I used Xilisoft Converter (attached). But i found out that there is this 3gpp2 format. so i tried to convert one video clip on its default and it works. So i did again but this time i change the Video bitrate to 200 (200-500 kbps works, the higher the better) and change also the audio settings to Stereo instead of mono (bitrate has it's fixed value: choose the highest). Then when i played the converted video, it plays the same way as SmartMovie does..., the clarity and frame rate are the same( i forgot to change the frame rate by default it plays 15fps, you can choose upto 25fps i thought because recording video clips on N80 has a 25fps). What really made me think it is better than SmartMovie is that it plays the audio in stereo:finga: unlike smartmovie:cry: . I hope i said everything clear. :ilove: :win:
Im sorry no sceenshot: But it is quite simple! you'll see. Please give me your feedback about this. Enjoy!:supz:

HI, can you give me link for that Super vdo converter? Is it Vdo or video? Thanks!
Landy 10th July 2006, 12:24 Yes, but people is working with Xilisoft video conv., time ago, is the best encoding tool. Also why 3gpp2? 3gpp works fine for all formats convert, and in stereo, of course.
N80 plays all the stuff that you convert to 3gpp with this tool, from .mp4, avi, mpeg...
Thanks Landy.-
TitanX 10th July 2006, 13:14 Landy, please upload me any short video clip in 3gp format in stereo audio. I tried with Xilisoft but it fails. Please give me your settings. Thanks 4 d comment. Mybe there's somethng wrong with my installation. Cheers!
ice_magist 10th July 2006, 13:39 try this settings:
for the video settings:
video bitrate choose 110-115 (maybe even 120 for uber quality)
mpeg4 encoder
frame rate of 15 (always)
For audio settings:
mpegaac encoder
audio to 44100 khz
112 kbps is okay
mono
output to 3GP.
mostly it also applies to mp4 format as well
stupidcupid 10th July 2006, 14:48 guys i tryed super...it was the one which is suggested for making mp4 for n80...also it was suggested that the output video codec shud b h.263...but when i convert the output video icon is more like 3gp and it dont support the n80... the same conf. my friend is trying and he is getting mp4 out put..playing greattttttttttt in n80.

ireshpatel 10th July 2006, 17:22 HI, can you give me link for that Super vdo converter? Is it Vdo or video? Thanks!

dcperez 10th July 2006, 17:30 The best and faster converter for me is PocketDivxEncoder 3.6
Just select Smartphone
Video Quality 2
Sound Quality 1
Scale 208 x 176
XVID Checked
Framerate at 15fps
VHQ Checked
1 minute is around 1mb so a 1 hour movie is only 60mb with incredible quality, unlike the other converters that ive tried. Plays in SmartMovie all version. :D
tekkieboy1 10th July 2006, 19:55 hi guys... which one is the link for the super video converter?
there are so many links in the page given but, i don't know which link to click to download the apps...
thanks...
Landy 10th July 2006, 22:08 The best settings for Xilisoft video converter are only the ones that you like, you just need to test with every setting and choose that what is better according with the quality, stereo or mono and the size.
You must renember that in stereo the size will grow up around 20Mb or so.
BR Landy.-

:partyman: It's quite perfect! But Pixels are too small (You can see Square pixels) for N80. It's great on My 6680 and 6630. And mono sound sucks. You just dont get the spice of what you are listening to... except maybe if you r just listening to a sermon or lectures! For music esp Music Videos it's opt to be Stereo. Video bitrate the bigger the better (have to sacrifice for extra MB though). For me i go for quality and mobility (or the other way around).

:) Great Settings! But guys this forum is for N80 having problems to play good quality videos on it's "high-definition LCD". So i intend to post what i thought is the best format as of now. coz we still don't have yet an apps that can play vido clips on an accountable quality. In-short it's only a substitute for a while. N80 has a bigger screen interms of pixel number. But the Physical Size is still the same. So if you try to convert videos with smaller pixels you will get less-satisfactory quality. Guys' in my own opinion: QUALITY is what satisfies you. we're trying all out to have the best quality with as much as possible small file size. DIVX is the best format i've encountered... it can be played on TCPMP:prayer: (on my 6680/6630). But we're still waiting for this Grandy to be out for OS 9.1
I usually convert videos on its best qualities (both Audio/Video) that's why i came to have a 5 mins Video clips of 15-18MB. I put the frame rate to it's max 29.97fps with 200-300kbps bitrate in 480x320 frame size video, 128kbps audio at 44Khz Stereo. this is in DiVX format. You can put this file on CD and play on your DiVx player watch it on your TV screen better than VCD quality.
Anyway, conclusion is....you can do anyway you want it as to your taste of enjoying multimedia contents:finga: :ilove:

This is a very nice program. If it only ripped DVD's, it would be perfect. :)
gooseye 11th July 2006, 11:37 Try this profile for SUPER, tuned for E61's display.
3g2 wrapper, MPEG4, AAC
320 x 240, 25fps , 576Kbps
Stereo, 32kHz, 112Kbps
Music videos, ~20MB each, look & sound great on the E61.
Feel free to alter the frame rate to match the source material, and bit-rates to suit your preferred quality/size trade-off.
Alexx0_o 12th July 2006, 03:04 I thought that by now everyone knew that RealPlayer was better than smartmovie ;)
Ultimate settings for N80, N71, N91, E60, E61 and E70:
Program: ImTOO or Xilisoft (they'r basically the same, I use ImTOO)
Format: 3gpp2 or 3gpp (3gpp2 is slightly better)
Codec: h243 <- best codec there is. Better compression, lower filesize and FASTER than DivX/Xvid.
Bitrate: 512 (1024 may be used if the video isn't very fast)
Framerate: 20 or 25 (or auto)
Audio codec: aac
audiobitrate: 64
Channels: Stereo
The rest is up to you.
The result: Absolutely spotless videoquality. It just CAN'T get any better.
sallu143 12th July 2006, 07:28 very nice friends what a converter
me use this convert 3250
178+208 bitrate 192fps 15.00fps

:supz: THis is awesome: But i never had tried video bitrate more than 600kbps, you forgot the frame size, maybe someone would convert it in SubQCIF(i think it's the default for Xilisoft)- in full screen it would be blurry although smooth movement. CIF (352x288) is for N80 screen, for the rest check your user manual. i prefer bigger 480x320 it has crisp and sharp output. :partyman:
ireshpatel 12th July 2006, 10:39 hi guys... which one is the link for the super video converter?
h**p://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html#Dnload
i had used smartmovie/nokia multimedia converter and total video converter.
right now using super vdo convtr. it is realy amazing and found good quality then all of above. no need smartmovie. playing on real player of my n80.
Output container : 3gp (nokia/nec/seimens)
Video codec : Mpeg4
Video Scale size : 352*288
Frame : 25
video bitrate : 144 (using default, u can make it higher)
Audio Codec : AAC
rest of all keep as it is.
belive me, audio-vdo output is amazing. u can find dvd quality.

Framesize is up to you and depends on what device you have. For N80 use 352x288 which is what realplayer displays when it isnt in fullscreen. I don't think 3gpp/2 supports any higher resolutions than that.
Btw even bitrate as high as 1500 may work :P If the video doesnt have too fast movment.
cyril 25th July 2006, 09:19 quite good information about this software
thanks man
asdf666 7th August 2006, 19:59 IMO this converter cant compete with the smartmovie converter. I tried all sorts of setup and transfered them to my n80. For the .3gp ones, they were all full 'boxes'. As for the .avi, it was better.. No boxes. But the Video keeps jerking.
Amir.Erell 7th August 2006, 22:50 Hey guys can someone give me a link to d/l IMToo? and a keygen or something? thx in advance :)
johrael 9th August 2006, 15:07 I've tried using the Xilisoft converter and using some of the settings suggested, using MP4 decoder and converting to 3ggp2. After converting, when I tried to play the video on my laptop, the picture seems to be going faster than the audio. The audio speed is fine, but while the audio is 30mins long(like the original), the picture ended after 20mins.
Is there something I did wrong or perhaps did not set something? Cuz the synchronization is all off.
Tks in advance for any help. Cheers.
