.:N!ceGuyJay:. 27th July 2006, 21:46 hi guys,
i wanna know if it is possible to share the internet we get via GPRS, on LAN.
i use a dku2 cable for connecting my nokia 6681.
the LAN computers are connected via switch(100mbps)
i have tried all the standard methods(enabling ICS, using proxies on client used winproxy) but still not getting success...
the os on all computers is xp-sp2....
is there any software for doing that??????
and ultimately is it possible to share the internet....
please help me..

is there no one to help me....
i'm asking cos its a usb modem...
enabling ics, applying proxies to main comp(192.161.0.1) and shared(192.161.0,x.....) is not working
UFS-3â 29th July 2006, 08:28 sure you can...
1.you better got unlimited usage for gprs/edge/3g
2.connect your nokia to pc via USB
3.dial-up setting just like normal dial-up, username(blank), password(blank), dial no. (*99#)
4.check the dial-up properties, make sure have select nokia(USB) as modem
5.phone must got gprs/3g setting
6.ask telco for APN (menu>tools>settings>connection>access points>access point name) for some telco need change the APN cos not same as gprs/3g APN
*this method is connect internet via gprs with your pc, not share your broadband (like use router)
LayZ 29th July 2006, 08:54 But UFS-3â I think he is having problems in sharing the connection, not in connecting to GPRS..is it so niceguy_jay?
.:N!ceGuyJay:. 29th July 2006, 08:56 is this the method to share internet(airtel GPRS) on LAN??????????????????
.:N!ceGuyJay:. 29th July 2006, 08:59 exactly LAYZ...

LayZ 29th July 2006, 09:19 I guessed so....go through this article here...

From what I know,it is important to assign each client a unique IP address...have you done so?
candccom 29th July 2006, 17:05 In this case ics should work, but you need to setup the networking using the xp build in networking setup wizard. There is no different whether you use your phone or normal modem. it should work. You should setup the networking setup wizard on other pc too..
p/s: Actually i want to post something special for my 800 post :) , anyway hope this info give you a little help.
.:N!ceGuyJay:. 29th July 2006, 19:15 no candccom, this doesn't work...
candccom 30th July 2006, 07:17 can you briefly let me know what have you done to setup the ics? i mean step by step, so that i can try to help (if i can).
.:N!ceGuyJay:. 30th July 2006, 11:18 candcom, actually the problem is arising because the modem is my Nokia 6681....
and connecting cable is DKU-2 which is a usb cable...
i have configured dial-up before and it worked fine but that was not the usb modem(6681), it was through internal modem and landline cable...
and LayZ, i have thoroughly gone through the two links and i was configuring exactly as what they suggested but still not working...
but in the mean time i found a s/w which helps in advanced configuring of internal coding of tcp/ip files ( provides some additional codes to be added in ini files) and hope it will work...
i'm sharing the link...just have a look at it.....

its an evaluation version for 30 days
candccom 30th July 2006, 15:04 I have been tested before using the real usb modem and it works (but not sure with dku-2 and n6681). Please post your findings once you resolve your issue. BR.
drupad 17th October 2006, 06:34 hey guys use analogX proxy .................. it works and you can share gprs on lan ... :) sorry for the late reply
drupad 18th October 2006, 06:17 hi niceguy ........... this is is for uh .....
well i got a switch 100 mbps and two computers one with 98 and one with xp ..... heres how i went about it
i installed bluesoleil in win988 comp .... and then installed analogx its a proxy software ...... i installed both in win 98 then i connected to the internet
then i went to my xp xomputer all i did was went to the internet connection and trhen lan settings and then over there click on use a proxy server and then beside port click on advanced then uh will find proxy address to use and port for http ftp secure socks etc etc .....
Now here lies the trick ..... remember we had installed analogx in win98 ... while installing analogx uh will get a read file ..... over there uh will get the port settings for http secure socks etc.... so exactly use the same ports for ur xp toooo ...... and finally uh are left with "proxy address to use" -> over there just put in the ip of ur computer (win98) not of other but exactly and only win98`s ip ..... hence uh are almost done .....
Finally double click on analogx in win98 to start it and hence .... you will start sharing ........... i hope this helps if uh face any probs ... please do ask
