i am using a mio pocketpc with tomtom on but now it is telling me i have no valid gps signalcould anybody please help me as i am new to tomtom thanks for your time

You need to configure the gps settings correctly first - hopefully someone else in here will also have a mio & can post what setting you need (or you'll get there by trial & error, once you've got the correct setting (& still on the gps setting page) you should see the little circle type icon spinning slowly. For best results make sure you are outside any building or vehicle and near to a road and it can take @ 10 mins (or even more) the first time to get a sat lock.

Found these settins on another forum for you, but I have no way of checking to though :-
"In GPS Status Configure - use "Other Cable NMEA GPS" then Baud rate 4800 then "Serial cable on SP2"
