My friend have HP Pavillion series and he dropped it to the floor badly.
Now it wont boot.

When he press the power button, it will spin the fan but nothing more.
Even to get in to the BIOS setup, after couple second will freeze.
I have one luck can boot succsesly and backup everything but after that always freezing and freezing....

Is it worth if he open and remove the rear cover just in case something loose inside?
Is there any possibility to bring it back with minimum cost?

Sorry for those stupid questions 'cos this notebook coming from US and that's far far away from here.

First of all we can't assess the extent of the damage it received while being dropped. But since you said you had one good luck and able to backed up eveything, then maybe you would want to reinstall your OS for the meantime by changing in the BIOS the boot sequence to be the CD-ROM first then place in it a bootable Windows XP service pack 2 is require for more features then voila just take it from there and when installation completes, you should run a complete disk check (scandisk) and find out if the drive is still as realible as it should be, if it does not pass or still keeps on freezing, you might need to change the harddisk which cost around 100U$ depending on the size.

Concerning the loose parts, I doubt it because in a notebook there is rarely any moving parts nor parts that are just squeezed in, it's mostly soldered and laminated.

Thanks Cha99.
I saw very easy screw on the rear to be open.
My friend told me up to me what to do.

I tried with different harddisk and DDR with no result.
I start to believe that something about hardware problem inside.

Cheers, fx.
