Hi folks,

check this out ;)

On August, 2nd 2006 MSI published another version of its MSI BluePlayer, a JAVA version which enables you to enjoy bluetooth stereo sound even if your mobile phone has no a2dp profile like my Nokia 6280 ...

Previous releases were for Symbian OS or WinCE etc. but for example now S40 Series supported... like the 6280...

with this new JAVA version a few more users are set !!

MSI BluePlayer (JAVA)
ReleaseDate: 2006-8-2
Version 1.1.1
Support OS Java + JSR82 + JSR75
File size 144KB

1.Support Nokia 6230i/6270/6280/9300/7710/3250, Sony Ericsson K750i/W800i/W550i/W900i/W810i

And finally the link to the MSI homepage, section MSI BluePlayer :

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/software/swr/spt_swr_detail.php?UID=627&kind=8

Have fun with it ;)

Check the phone list, if you got a different mobile phone, but had JAVA software running that was declared for some of the above phones and it worked, then just give it a test !

regards,

jax

P.S.: I hope this is no double post on topic, I checked everything with the search function but you never know ! ;)

Wow... This is a very nice found... Definetly added reputation.. But does it work?? I've attached the app..

Btw, changed the title to "MSI BluePlayer JAVA!!! for Bluetooth Stereo - Get it here!" so that there wont be any misunderstandings... :D

Nice work!

Sure hope this works. Thanks and added rep. But it should do. Sony Ericsson java beats the $|-|||- out of nokia java and the w8 has all the jsr's supported and it says compatible with the sony ericsson.

re guys,

at first, thanks for the reputation etc, very nice.

about the stuff... this is the official information given by MSI..

MSI as being a company will of course produce no non working stuff, compared to some experimental homebrew etc. so the phone list they support is the official list from MSI homepage, and as you saw its hot 2nd August 2006.

I personally own a Nokia 6280 but my i.tech BlueBand is still on its way I will test it asap and keep you guys updated !

Software is running perfectly so far, but I just dont have my i.tech BlueBand on my hands yet, need to wait for the delivery.

However apart from testing, you at least got the info thats its an official tool published by MSI and they confirm it to work with the listed phones and i.tech headsets so I think chances are more than good, I wouldnt post stuff without being convinced.

jax

The website says " *This utility is only available for MSI Bluetooth stereo headset product ".
So, im skeptic if this will run with other bluetooth headsets. Has anyone tested it on a bluetooth headset yet. If yes, then kindly post the results.

hi,

you should be able to use any bluetooth headset products by i.tech / MSI with this application, of course it wont work for ANY bluetooth stereo headset on the market, nearly impossible to code, I guess, as it works with phones that arent capable of A2DP.

So they would need to code specific code for any headset, if they dont use a profile thats part of some specifications i.e. bluetooth... its always this compatibility issue ;)

Due to this I am getting i.tech BlueBand one of the best stereo headsets anyway

If you are aware of the technical background, you see that its impressive anyway, coz of no a2dp being required. and that it wont be possible to just code an application that works with every headset if it doesnt use some widely known standards (like a2dp)

I'd figure that they are doing something with bluetooth data to get it to support A2DP.

In fact, technically, it isn't A2DP, its a clever workaround - they are (probably) using streaming data which their headset (no other manufacturers ones) can understand and convert into stereo audio.

aww... i was just hoping blueplayer would be compatible with any headset. Any ways, so if only MSI headsets are suported, here is the list of MSI bluetooth headsets that come with blueplayer bundled :

- FS310

---edit----
Bad news guys, i believe it works only with > FS310
If anyone has better luck, kindly post

This app only works with a bluetooth headset. And once that's connected, it works fine. Hope this will solve ur problem. :D

hi everyone :)

manny_nair you are right bout the compatibility with the MSI Headsets, but as mentioned before, the i.tech hedsets, for example the BlueBand is compatible with the BluePlayer as well. Maybe even other ones, but I know of MSI and i.tech for sure, my i.tech BlueBand should arrive on Tuesday I hope and I will test it then asap with my Nokia 6280 and keep you guys updated :)

clonmult I guess you are right, I think its working that way as well ;)

Thats great :) Best of luck with your i.tech headset.
It would help if everyone who tried it could list down their headsets here if it worked ...
So the moderators could create a complete list of compatible headsets. That would really help anyone having an old cell and thinking of buying a new headset :)

when i run the blueplayer on my moto rokr...it just shows " MSI Blueplayer Version 1.11 Copyright 2006 MSI " it just stops there...i cant press anything... Is it that this software isnt compatible or it is naturally like that?

manny_nair
7th August 2006, 11:38
It is not naturally supposed to be like that. The splash screen is supposed to go in like 3-4 seconnds.

1.Support Nokia 6230i/6270/6280/9300/7710/3250, Sony Ericsson K750i/W800i/W550i/W900i/W810i

Like jax said before, only the phones above are supported officially. If it works for other phones, its a bonus :)

The application runs fine in my W550i. But i do now have a headset to check if it really works. When i query for headsets, i can see bluetooth activity, which means most probably the client is working fine. So if it found a compatible headset, it should work fine.

The application is signed and works under the 3rd party domain, which means no annoying file system access dialog boxes.

Wow, 810i is supposed to be compatible with blueplayer.
Did you install it via the jad file ?
And make sure you allow read write on user data.
I guess thats all you can do and hope it works...

Dear jax_:
Would you please describe how you install this application for 6280 in detail? Because when I put both MSI_JAVA_0604.jad and MSI_JAVA_0604.jar in the same folder, I can't execute the program (shows invalid program). If I put only MSI_JAVA_0604.jar, it keeps showing file access permission. Thanks!

AFAIK, for nokia's; you use the nokia application installer to install java apps for an S40 phone.

Hi all !

qwerty111 is right, I just unpacked the rar file and then installed it using Nokia PC Suite, you can get it at Nokias page for free, I think 6.81 is the latest one.

However I at least thought that just copying the files should work as well, will test it...

I got mail, that my headset will arrive at Thursday/Friday ...

I will supply you with digicam-shots then of my Nokia6280 and the headset...

Software already running perfectly, just needs the headset and seems to be ready to go apart from that ... will check asap, if you want pics of the software running I'll supply em as well, no problem ;) - of course I will post the headset pics etc. then as well...

Hi jax_,
I just wondering how you can avoid the file access permission popup? Thanks!

qwerty111
10th August 2006, 11:06
That is how you do it. By installing with the nokia app installer; you can set the permissions on the program to never ask and so on.

To avoid the read/write access permission dialog boxes, install blueplayer through the jad file.

Drag and drop both the jad and jar file into the "others" folder, then select the jad file (you can check file type by clicking more > information) and click install.
** Make sure you do not rename the jar file.

I bought FS110 from MSI.

Test with SXG75 from BQS:
- for Install I need create new JAD with JADMaker
- looks good, playlists would so nice...

BUT:

Also same result... No Musik.

Blue Player is bundled with this Headset. Also manual included.

Maybe more support of MSI, if we write some Emails...

alright. done installing. thanks to the bro!

but... i still get "connect fail!". how do i get it connected?

manny_nair
12th August 2006, 05:10
You may be getting the message "Connect fail" becuase your headset may not supported. "thecoolshah" has been kind enough to try it and let me know that it worked for him with a sony ericsson headset.

So i guess, its just an compatiblity issue. Works for some headsets, doesnt work for others, which is why i suggested that people who try it should report if it works for them, so that we have a list of working headsets...

If you are absolutely sure that the headset is compatible, then try checking if your phone is in discoverable mode and that your bluetooth is enabled before you run this software. (Bluetooth has to be turned on before you run this application.) Also you could try repairing the headset with the phone (altough i dont think that will help)

Hi @ all,

finally my bluetooth headdset arrived, after having a nice weekend with a broken bluetooth pc dongle that always came up as unknown device... I noticed that its REALLY just broken ;)

I just checked the stuff out, used BluePlayer JAVA which as I already said is working perfectly so far...

However I was only able to get the software running, just installed via PC Suite, and connect it to the bluetooth headset, everything is working great so far, I can even playback mp3s via noka music player then, but only with kinda bad sound quality..

Everytime I try to play an mp3 it comes up with the "Connect failed!" message, although its already connected and according to the sound and noises made by my headset it sounds like the mp3 is just about to be played but then the msg pops up...

its a real pity, but we can only test which combinations work (6280 + i.tech BlueBand doesnt work perfect in the end right now)...

the BluePlayer btw. is even available by i.tech itself (same software?!!) but right now only SIS edition, no stuff for the JAVA monkeys to test :/

Another thing that would make sense (I already annoyed em)...

http://support.msi.com.tw/index.php

Go there and make em listen ;)

I made a first mistake you can avoid now...

instead of i.tech headsets, look for an according MSI product and tell em you get the "Connect failed!" message, coz if you tell them your problem with MSI BluePlayer and some i.tech they wont give support ;)

regards, jax

... in the end this will work ;)
