.:N!ceGuyJay:.
7th August 2006, 00:44
AFTER FINDING THAT MANY USERS ARE UNABLE TO USE THIS I AM GIVING A DETAILED PROCEDURE TO USE THIS METHOD

This technique works for dialup users(specially gprs)....broadband users may also try....
here we begin...

step 1. First do a small change to My Computer (and do take a backup of it)

Right click My Computer and go as suggested

My Computer>>>Properties>>>Hardware>>Device Manager>>>PORTS>>
DOUBLE CLICK ON COM1>>>>>PROPERTIES>>PORT SETTING >>>
CHANGE BIT PER SEND SETTING TO 128000
FLOW CONTROL = HARDWARE
PRESS OK

step 2. Open command prompt
then type following command -> ipconfig/all
it will display ur ip detail, masknet detail, gateway detail and DNS detail.(refer image)

just note down that DNS IP ADDRESS

step 3. Now download the speed.rar file provided in attachments.

step 4. unrar the file in a folder.

step 5. right click on the speed.bat file and click edit.(refer image)

step 6. now replace the *.*.*.* with your DNS address that you have noted down.(refer image)

step 7. save the file.(refer image)

step 8. establish an internet connection and after that run the file by double clicking the speed.bat file.
Do remember to keep the file running as long as the internet connection is there.

Well I tested it ... and I must say that the Speed has INCREASED drastically.

Didn't try downloading anything though ... will do so later :)

By the way ... must the 'speed.bat' file remain open?

try to use mozilla firefox ...... the page loads more faster than in internet explorer .... use the same config as given .. and remember always to ping the dns servers .....

it now takes me only 2 - 9 seconds to view a page after clicking it .... using firefox and the above method ....... but using internet explorer ... its still slow .... have to wait between 1 - 4 minutes

Blue Ray .... *.*.*.* : you got ... its because u didn't replace the "*" with ur ip .... you can check ur ip by typing ... ipconfig/all in the command prompt ./... once uh get the ip ... EDIT THE SPEED.BAT file and Replace the *.*.*.* with ur ip .... (my ip for eg :201.76.233.8)

Hi. i tried this method. but it seems that it didnt worked on mine. when i run the speed.bat, i got this message - "request time out" then i cant browse any web.. how can i do this corretly? i had done the instuction on the first post..

.:N!ceGuyJay:.
23rd September 2006, 02:57
which internet connection you are using?
can you give details...

Global360
23rd September 2006, 06:26
if i got this message on the speed.bat, did i get it correctly? (sample only)
Reply from 280.13.17.1: bytes=32 time=262ms TTL=250

Then sometimes i got request timed out message.

It seems that my internet connection boost a little, and my download increase by only i think 2kbps.

Is it same with yours?

.:N!ceGuyJay:.
23rd September 2006, 12:30
the message you are getting is exactly what is expected....
and since you are getting the messaage then obviously your speed is boosted...
request timed out message is common...you may get it sometimes....

@alpesh
If you really want to increase your internet speed, call your internet provider and upgrade your plan. If you are pertaining to a software, search it here. There are lots of softwares for this.

@mirza
on command prompt type ipconfig /all
It wil display your current IP address. It will be changed every time you restart your PC if your IP address is define automatically by windows. You can define your own but be sure to check it first to your internet service provider to avoid conflict with your internet.

Cheers!

AFTER FINDING THAT MANY USERS ARE UNABLE TO USE THIS I AM GIVING A DETAILED PROCEDURE TO USE THIS METHOD

This technique works for dialup users(specially gprs)....broadband users may also try....
here we begin...

step 1. First do a small change to My Computer (and do take a backup of it)

Right click My Computer and go as suggested

My Computer>>>Properties>>>Hardware>>Device Manager>>>PORTS>>
DOUBLE CLICK ON COM1>>>>>PROPERTIES>>PORT SETTING >>>
CHANGE BIT PER SEND SETTING TO 128000
FLOW CONTROL = HARDWARE
PRESS OK

step 2. Open command prompt
then type following command -> ipconfig/all
it will display ur ip detail, masknet detail, gateway detail and DNS detail.(refer image)

just note down that DNS IP ADDRESS
step 3. Now download the speed.rar file provided in attachments.

step 4. unrar the file in a folder.

step 5. right click on the speed.bat file and click edit.(refer image)

step 6. now replace the *.*.*.* with your DNS address that you have noted down.(refer image)

step 7. save the file.(refer image)

step 8. establish an internet connection and after that run the file by double clicking the speed.bat file.
Do remember to keep the file running as long as the internet connection is there.
Is there any problem in doing this coz its like pinging the DNS server. I may get cought by doing so..and then can be in a big trouble.

this is funny. pinging your DNS speeds up your internet connection?
