Hi everyone, i have bought a new memory card of 1gb. I installed some apps in this card but after that a problem occured of apps clashing. So I went to format this card. I had formated memory card of 512mb before. So i went to Dos prompt n typed format g: n pressed enter. But it showed me this message - The type of the file system is FAT.

Cannot format. This volume is write protected.
So i want to know how to remove this write protection for volume of drive? becoz i cannot format this card n is important for me to format it.

Please help me how to remove the write protection of drive in DOS mode.

I will really appreciate someone's good n descriptive help.:)

I never have this problem before but try to remind you something that you may have forgotten.

Instead of format it in DOS, try to format it by right clicking...... There you can choose system FAT or FAT 32 to format (depending on your system). Here we choose FAT.

Secondly, maybe you mmc is password protected and you just forgot about it?:)

No mate winwintoto1234 it isnt password protected bcoz i just bought a new one. N even i changed the property while formatting from FAT32 to FAT bcoz its a FAT System. But then while formating it its saying " Its write protected"
So the thing is how to remove this write protection?
Please help.....??

Even i tried to delete all the files from memory card by selecting all n pressing the delete button. But it saying "Cannot delete - Write protected".
So i dont know that if it was write protected then how was i able to install apps n other stuffs like Sounds, images...etc in this card? N now after installation i m not able to delete any stuff from it.
Please solve my problem.

have you try format the mmc using your phone? Same result?

No from phone its possible to format but after formating the directory still remains. I wanna do a complete format from the DOS prompt. So please tell me how to remove the write protection of a drive.

n @noban yes i purchased sd card. But i m not getting how to completely format memory card from DOS prompt.

but i had some problems on my mmc from several monthes .
i went to customer service center & they format my mmc using communicator .

I think there is no option to do so. I asked my computer expert friend, he told me that the write protection is set default from them from where i bought it. So there is no way to change the write protection. So i think now this topic can be closed as there is no way to do this.
If still anyone knows how to remove the write protection of a drive then please hekp me here.
