hi can anyone advise certain problem on deskpro (dont know any other model numbers its just got 'deskpro' written on front of tower)-its quite old - the processor fan spins but doesnt boot,the lightbulb LED keeps flashing / blinking orange & theres a green LED on motherboard constantly 'ON' now I think its mobo prob, but then it could be number of problems, just wanted to know other ppls experience before I completely strip the unit;)

LED on the mobo is indicator that your mobo has active electric.
Pretty strange if no beep sound, the front LED should green as I know.

If I were you, I will strip the unit before sending to service ;-)

nice reply fxsuprapto (did you manage to fix your HP?), i appreciate your help-i understand theres a problem with some hard drives /maxtor i think -saw it on the HP support forums- but on their forums only fix for certain hdd probs is a patch. Other than that on their forums theres no fix for NON booting PC.

I agree with no information about info on booting problem in the net.
I just thinking, if harddisk got a problem then it should still allow us entering the BIOS anyway. What do you reckon?

I'm not expert in hardware, everything I do with hardware always based on my couriousity. Wish I could learn more from you....
