:prayer: PLEASE be PATIENT in reading this post, I really need help.

Have you ever encountered a 'e_T tm' option after right-clicking a USB drive from 'My Computer' folder? It also appears when the Autoplay tab pops after the flash drive/disk has installed itself.

Also, after scanning the flash drive, your scanner will detect/scan 'Win32: Enfal'. Moving the virus to the virus chest/storage of your scanner disables the drive to open automatically when double-clicked. It will open only when you right click the folder and press OPEN. I got the virus when I borrowed a friend's infected flash disk.

A friend of mine told me that what it does to your PC is that it steals private info such as passwords whenever you connect to the internet & then send the information to a website. I really don't know if its true but I'm worried since my laptop is brand new.

I haven't notice any decline in the speed or performance of my laptop except that the virus installs itself to other USB flash disks that were plugged to my PC.

Please help me. what precautions can I take? What free downloadable antivirus programs can you recommend. I'm currently using Avast. Thanks!

PS: to the moderator, I hope that this post is valid since the virus allegedly steals and sends password info via the internet, ergo: compu networking & internet.

thanks! I do hope you guys reply... :ilove:

Hey, you could use a Firewall program to prevent the virus/torjan from connecting to the internet, a search on google should quickly lead you to a good free one, one that comes to mind is Kiero Personal Firewall, as well Zonealarm is free trial. As well, use a virus scanner like McAffe's Home service (i think lol) where you just go to their site and it runs a virus scan. Just update your virus definitions and you should be fine.

Installing a firewall program should limit the trojan's access to the internet and I havn't really heard that a virus can place itself onto a USB and automatically install, only way would be to use an autorun.inf file placed on the USB flash drive, you can disable autorun and this should allow you to access the USB and safely remove the file causing the problem.

edit : You should turn off autorun, as this is how things automatically run from flash drives. hxxp://support.microsoft.com/kb/155217

Hope this helps a lil :)
