Just bought a new HP Pavilion DV5200tx which has a dual layer
DVD RW support.

However, when i insert any cd/dvd, sometimes it doesn't detect the drive,
at times restartin the notebook solves it ... at times there is some problem in detecting ... it says some error and tht th atpi driver is old .....

i run win xp home the drive is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N

Sounds like you are having a driver conflict, did you uninstall the old drivers ?? did you install new drivers ???

Secondly, i'd also reccomend a firmware upgrade for the burner ( available from manufacturers website )

Last but not least, there is a prog called driver magic available, get a hold of this and run it on your notebook, this will help with any conflicts and install the latest drivers available.
