* S60.Icon.Wizard.English.Version-LiJOE
This is an English translation of S60 Icon Wizard Release Candidate 1 (May 2006) which was originally available only in German Language.
This translation is for those who wanted this application in English Language.

* S60.Hidden.Icon.Wizard.English.Version-LiJOE
This is a special mod of the English translation of S60 Icon Wizard Release Candidate 1 (May 2006) which is mentioned above.
With this mod, you would be able to hide app icons in the phone menu.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
::Extra Notes on HIDDEN version::
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
1. Create an icon as usual.

2. Transfer the aif (or sis) to your phone.

3. Install the icon SIS file
or
copy the AIF file to desired folder.

4. Restart your phone to make the app hidden from phone menu.

5. If step 4 does not work
then
just rename the folder of the desired application to some other name, wait for a few seconds (say 30 seconds), and finally rename it back to the original name.

6. It is assumed that before you follow step 4 or 5, you must have the new icon (hidden version) properly installed/copied to the folder in question.

7. If you have done it right, the application icon will be hidden from the phone menu.

System Requirements:

* Microsoft Windows (98SE, 2000 or XP)
* CPU: 200 MHz
* RAM: 64MB
* Free HDD space: 15MB

Short Description:
With this application you can make customised application icons for symbian s60 1.x and 2.x phones. Since the program is still in beta stage, there may be bugs.

P.S.: i had been looking for a chance to do it since the launch of the german version, but as you all know, i was simply away from my PC and workplace all these months. hope to be here for another month or so, then i'll again disappear for probably 9 months. i'll try to give my best to the forum in whatever time i have got.

Edit: The first file (normal version) contained some bytes which were intended for the hidden version.
The bytes have been fixed and i am uploading it again.
i am sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Because i was working on both the versions at the same time, things got messed up.

ClickHERE to get the proper file for the normal version. ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

or , goto page 2 of the thread for the same.

yes mate. S60 hidden icon wizard (the 2nd file) does exactly what you mean to say. But i would recommend a backup of original aif file if you want to restore the app back to the phone menu.
or make a normal icon using the first file posted above.

The idea for this mod was born purely out of necessity. I have ETI Camcorder2 on my phone which has a sub-app known as "My Videos". My Videos acts as a video browser for ETI Camcorder and it can be run as a stand-alone app as well as from within ETI Camcorder. I felt that the icon for My Videos occupied unnecessary space in the phone menu as it was already accessible from within Camcorder. I never ran it as a standalone app. Other example of such apps is QuickOffice Suite where the individual icons for QuickWord, QuickPoint, QuickSheet are hidden from the phone menu; only a common QuickOffice icon is visible.
There are many such applications which have unnecessary icons in the phone menu. The Hidden Icon Wizard can do the job in such a case, you don't have to install a bulky and complex Symbian SDK for it.

Make sure there is no caption file (application_CAPTION.RSC) present in the application directory on phone. Captions in the *_caption.Rsc file override the captions in the *.Aif file. This is the reason the captions failed to change for you.

I deleted xxxx_CAPTION.RSC, but it keeps showing the old caption.

I deleted xxxx_CAPTION.RSC, but it keeps showing the old caption.

Try the following:

* rename the *.aif to *.aif.bak or anything.
* wait for some time (about 30 seconds).
* look at the application's icon in the menu, it must have changed to some unknown type.
* rename the aif file to the original name.
* wait for a few seconds again.
* you can now see the desired icon in phone menu.

this is because the icon name has to be read from the caption or aif file and written in the applications.dat file. The icon name will not change if you simply delete the caption file. To do it, the menu has to be refreshed. By following the above procedures, you just refresh the menu with the new caption which is now read from the aif file.

Is it possible to make the hidden file visible again after the file or folder have been hidden?

Is it possible to make the hidden file visible again after the file or folder have been hidden?

Yes. It is possible. Just replace the hidden icon with a normal icon. A normal icon means the original icon or another icon made with a normal version of icon wizard or any other icon maker.

Didn't worked...
Even in programs that doesn't have the xx_caption file, the problem happens.

Did it work till the 3rd step, (as posted by lijoe)?
If not, then exit the menu and open again...BUT...

Remember, donot simply press exit button.
Open the menu and press OPTIONS (left soft-key) and choose EXIT from there.

If it worked till the 3rd step, then I dont know where are you making mistakes.
