View Full Version : i-phone keeps crashing firefox?
Rogacz 30th August 2006, 17:13 When i'm on iphone, my comp (actually, it's not mine, but don't mind :) ) starts lagging. Sometimes, the computer does not respond for about 5 - 15 seconds, and if i click anything during that "lag" firefox crashes. It's really annoying. But the best thing happened today - not only firefox crashed, but also explorer.exe and the rest of system processes, so i had to restart the computer.
Windows xp installed.
Any solutions?
Kassad 30th August 2006, 19:38 Sorry but the problem is not the site, The comp your using may have virus, trojan etc. The only way to fix is trying to find possible virus etc, and reinstall firefox.
I dont have any problem with the site or any other sites
Try to access the site from another comp.
Rogacz 31st August 2006, 00:25 On my father's comp, the same thing is happening. On my friend's comp, the same thing is happening. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Kassad 31st August 2006, 00:45 Hmm its sounds very wierd. Im not sure why it happens to you.The only way we can know is if any other users has the same problem as yours.
VenSky 31st August 2006, 02:48 ive had instances on my old PC where loading iphone has caused the system to stop responding for a few seconds... but the same was true for other websites, not just iphone.
now on a slighly higher spec pc, the forum sometimes takes a while to load (today for instance its taking a couple of seconds longer and has timed out once or twice).. however its not yet crashed my pc... are the PCs your using only behaving this way when loading iphone and not on any other sites?
has the problem been happening for a long time or is it only recent thing?
you say that your father & friend etc. are also having this problem.. if your all in the same geographical area then maybe theres a problem with your areas network or sth..
just my 2cents..hope you get ur problem fixed bro

ashpreet_htbk 31st August 2006, 12:04 There is a big of a lag for sure...
Simple answer sqitch to IE or opera..
techbug 31st August 2006, 13:29 The Problem are not with the Operating Systems or OPERA
I think so that the Scripts running on the Site makes this all happens
hey anyone try this solution
If u are using the WINDOWS XP home or Old Sp1 professional try
making the HOPTFIXs
Mean try downloading the Security updates
I am using the Windows 2005 MME from last 1 yr and have not faced such problem with this Site

juang 31st August 2006, 13:51 the advertisements here which search for words in the text here to link as text is giving the problems i think.. iphone lags terribly because of that.. maybe the comps you used are all slow.. thats why they lag..
Rogacz 31st August 2006, 14:02 It happens only on I-phone. It started happening about 2 months ago. I'm not using dial-up. Me and my father are using the same connection (network), my friend has connection from another provider. I'm downloading every security update. And those comps are not slow - the comp i'm using now is P centrino 1,73, 1gb ram, my father's comp is P IV 2800, 512 mb ram, my friend is using P 3,0 with 1 gb of ram, so they're not too slow. Hey, i've been playing heroes V on all of them :)
LayZ 31st August 2006, 14:14 You haven't mentioned whether it happens in Opera or IE as well..
Rogacz 31st August 2006, 15:03 Only firefox. Guess i'll have to use ie, or just bear with firefox. I hate opera .
WB40 31st August 2006, 15:09 im using firefox & nothing happens...doesnt crash & i mean.. not laggy at all..
just sharing my view..
hobbsie 28th September 2006, 05:08 I have to add my view on this too...
There is definately an issue with the forum browsed with firefox.
I have all three browsers (firefox, opera, IE) and the lag and sometimes absoulte freezes are only apparent in firefox, and in my opinion it is directly related to the ads or the like that come from kontera.com...I have been to other sites with kontera.com bits in the site and they all knock firefox around, which to me says the company has no idea on how to code for cross browser compatability.
I think the only thing i-phone could do is stop using services from kontera.
I find using opera, and IE (exceptionally rarely) is the only way to actually browse i-phone comfortably.
So my suggestion to you guys is to perhaps stop using kontera however at least you can browse i-phone in something other than the bloody crap IE.
Just my 2 cents
Cheers

juang 28th September 2006, 05:36 yup.. ie is just a very basic browser that users should try to stop using them as soon as possible.. there are many browsers lying around on the net that can share bookmarks and stuff with IE. (unlike firefox which runs entirely by itself)
some examples are advant browser and maxthon browser.
personally i use maxthon. its a great browser with quite similar features to firefox but also have access to IE bookmarks
