.rar files are opened with winrar, .zip with winzip. If u open a zip and see an exe, run it, it'll install on PDA if PDA is hotsynced. If u see only a .cab file, and nothing else, or the when running the .exe u get a INVALID WINDOWS APLLICATION, copy and paste .cab in ppc, and run from there to install. The exe is then the crack, copy and paste in ppc's main game folder and overwrite. (not the place where shortcut is placed, but the MAIN folder).

Guides can be found at pocket pc studios forums *warning spoilers there* Also a lot of puzzles, like hidden doors, hidden portals, hours and hours of gameplay. probably not suitable for the pure hack and slash lovers due to the puzzles. (damn hard lol, thank god for spoilers))

Many years ago, an evil wizard lived in a country far away. There had never been a wizard so powerful, or a man so evil as Karn, and his only wish was to conquer the world.
Many brave men tried to stop him, and failed. But when all seemed lost, a young boy chose to face Karn on his own, and with the unlikely help of a big mushroom, managed to defeat the wizard and save the world from tyranny and darkness.

This year, it was Gilbert's grandfather, Abraham Goodmate, who swore the oath to protect the mushroom, to care for it and keep it safe, and to defend it, if need be, with his life.
But one week before the festival, the mushroom is stolen -- and Abraham is blamed for allowing it to happen.
He swore an oath, the people say, to defend the mushroom with his life -- well, then, let him pay with his life! And so, Abraham Goodmate is thrown in jail, and sentenced to be executed during the mushroom festival.

There is only one way for Gilbert Goodmate to save his grandfather. He must find the stolen mushroom, and capture the thief, before the end of the week!

Baronic: great great game, with superb replayability. Unfortunately, there are no more fifa franchise for ppc, but yet, this one is the BEST i repeat BEST football game available for ppc. Something for the coming World Cup? get in the mood with this. For beginners make sure u set the difficulties of the keeper and AI to beginner. I prefer Hard, much more exciting. U can also set game matches. Controls are easy, so gameplay is very enjoyable.

Baronic: personally, i would say definitely more than 20 hours of gameplay time. I cant see myself completing this game that fast. replayability is excellent. So much better than Legacy.

Every RPG fan knows that RPG games for handhelds are not very common and a good one is hard to come by. Nuclear Time, developed by MallocWare in Germany, is an interactive text-based RPG game that’s very addictive thanks to its creative story line, tight game play design and polished presentation.

An alternate future

The intriguing synopsis is one of the main attractions of Nuclear Time. In the year 2051 AD the world was dangerously overcrowded. Hunger, disease and misery gripped the planet. A coalition of poor nations mounted military strikes against the world’s economic super-powers in desperation to save their people. The war soon turned ugly with nuclear weapons involved. In a few days our once blue planet was transformed into a wasteland, contaminated by radioactivity. The earth as it had been for eons no longer existed. The game starts 50 years after this deadly war, when the level of radioactivity has dropped and people have begun to build new settlements with the technologies they re-discovered before the big war. However there is no central government, and anarchy reigns.

The few animals and people who survived the radiation have been horribly mutated. They are banned from a place almost mythical called Eden where the land is still green, plants still grow, water still clear and people still living in relative comfort. Eden is controlled by a militant organization known as Justice. They are rebuilding the world under their strict rules and they have begun their extermination of mutants. You are one of the mutants roaming mainly in the wasteland camps until one day a stranger came with NavCom, a rare piece of pre-Nuclear Time technology and urged you to seek out Taskar in the a place called Lost Hope. With NavCom in hand, you set out to find this Taskar person as if you know this was your destiny.

This chilling story of an alternate future gives the game engaging jump start and makes you want to find out what’s going to happen next. The game play developed tightly around the story with the main character equipped with major RPG attributes and skills.

The world of wasteland

The world map of Nuclear Time contains 11 camps and cities. Your character will travel between these cities to complete quests and missions. There are two modes of game play in Nuclear Time: Mission mode and Action mode. To play Mission mode, you will need to complete two lines of quests, one following the Taskar lead and free the mutants, and another one you pick up as you travel around the wasteland. You can only pick up the second set of quests in Action mode where fighting the Justice is your main goal and only way to crank up your score.

Your character has all the attributes of an RPG character except using magic. You gain experience points and upgrades through fighting either the Justice troops or other fighters in the arenas, as well as mutant monsters in the wasteland. You can pick up items in your travel or after a kill, and earn credits, which are used to trade for weapon and armor upgrades. You will need to put a lot of mileages in and ton of kills to gain 100% of your Strength, Stamina, Dexterity, Mobility, Haggle/Steal ability and various fighting skills. While your travels usually are paid off by completing quests, earning credits and getting steps further into the mutant liberation mission, you do however get radiation in the wasteland, adding an interesting dynamic to the game.

There are different establishments in each camp or city you go through, bars, trading warehouses, arenas, ruins, sometimes even a healer or an oracle. In the wastelands these camps settled in however are full of danger, mutant monsters, Justice Troopers/Elites and mutated desert guardians. Of course, you will have large selection of weapons anything from a cleaver to a Bazooka with ability to upgrade with credits. While it’s fun hacking up the monsters and see your experience points grow, the fighting experience gets a little receptivity as the game goes on. I give it 50-hour game play only because you need to run around the camps to do small chores and kill ton of spiders and snakes to gain enough experience points to take on serious quests.

No graphics no problem

In the world of razor sharp graphics at high frame rate, I was surprised how addicted I became to this text-based game. One of the reasons is the game has very interesting and intuitive interface that captures your eye and extents that to long-term attention. There are several game screens with creative and sharp still graphics. The main game screen displays the status of your character in real time such as your hunger/thirst level, radiation level, experience points, credits and shortcut buttons to world map, item carrying, quest logs and quest list. There is a small picture screen shows the scenic graphics of the place you are in with shortcut buttons to a binocular, a radiation counter and a metal detector. The bottom portion of your screen shows real time feedback on anything happens around you. The fighting screen shows your opponents, damage that both you and your enemies have caused, and you will have access to items that recover your health during the battle. You will find yourself looking forward to a fight just to find out what these monsters look like.

The selection of sound effects are among the best which helps turn this game into a cool thriller. From animal shrieking sound to the grunts when you get hit, almost every action in the game is accompanied by some interesting sound effects. The game comes in both English and German, supports ARM, MIPS and SH3. It requires 3.3 MB memory.

Conclusion

While we pray that the world of Nuclear Time only exists in our imagination, playing the game is engaging thanks to the creative story. Even with no gun blazing graphics, Nuclear Time gives you plenty of opportunities to sharpen your sword or blast your way though with futuristic weapons. While the game was a joy to play, I’m left with wanting more quests and more depth that seems to be the only flaw in this RPG.

Playing Hints and Tips

Don’t take on killing quests in the beginning of the game; take your time to build up your levels in the message delivery quests and killing small monsters. Upgrade your weapons and armors as soon as you can afford them.

The most effective thing in battle is Micropain. Stock those up before facing the tough Justice people.


Baronic: incredibly gripping and addictive game, with great gameplay, and replayability. Many many many hours of gameplay, and low requirements make this game one of the must haves for me. Personally recommended. Then again, this is after all, "SELECTED BEST..." run any exe to install. Should be okay. U'll need some sort of software to run the game. It'll request u for it if u dun have it, if u do, no problem. If u dont, do a search in this forum, as it is definitely available. I advice u to switch on auto save, as the X button is too conveniently placed near the gameplay buttons, so closing the game accidentally is too possible.

EDIT: I"VE DISCOVERED A REALLY COOL CHEAT/BUG that can help u get a lot of money fast. If u wanna use this cheat, download the spoiler file. Be warned, might spoil your gameplay experience.

If you have the strength to dig yourself out of your Snails addiction and want to play something similar with different scenery, then check out Battle Dwarves. Developed by Applewood House and published by Infinite Ventures, Battle Dwarves is a good looking fun game that's modeled after classic games such as Scorched Earth. But more people will know what the game is like if I said it played just like Snails, with a medieval twist.

You won't find funny, wacky and sometimes racy remarks (like in Snails) here, what you WILL find is a selection of medieval dwarf armies with soldier's names like ThunderHeads, Torks, Boffins, and CraterMakers. But don't let the names fool you, these Battle Dwarves don't hit you with heavy swords, they play with bazookas, grenades, railguns, napalm and dynamites. The collection of 20 different weapons is almost identical to the ones in Snails with exceptions of a few. Like, you can dig a tunnel if you get stuck behind or underneath a structure.

In Battle Dwarves, you get to select 4 armies which can be either human or AI. And for each army, you can select 8 different squads with their own names, colors (there are 15 colors to choose from). There are over 20 maps with which you can choose to start the game. The terrain ranges from city lights to the jungle, from outer space to farmland. Unlike Snails, you don't have to win one battle to get to the next terrain.

The game play is the typical turn based shooting game. Each army takes turns firing at the enemy, and the last army with a soldier alive is the victor. The damage is measured by the health points. Each time a soldier gets hit, his health points will go down by a certain number. When he looses all the health point, the soldier dies and a tombstone taken his place. Each time a soldier kills an enemy, he will usually be rewarded with a promotion. Higher ranks deal more damage to the enemy and receive less damage on each hit. There are bonus items in this game. You can pick up health, money, treasure chests, and promotions that enemies left behind.

There isn't a radar screen like in Snails, but you can scroll to see your enemies off screen by dragging the screen with your stylus. I like this feature better because you can see the distance better when you have a continuous view. The game displays in landscape mode and can be flipped to fit lefties or righties. You can set your own control buttons; sound effects (SFX) and music volume can be changed or turned off. You can also change the contrast and device speed according to which Pocket PC you are using, which is a very nice touch. The difficulty levels can be set by adjusting the AI levels, which progress nicely and smoothly in the game.

While the title images are very sharp and quite stylish, the terrain graphics are not as sharp as in Snails. The movements are rather smooth at 50 fps, and explosions, weapon shooting among other things are very smooth. But the characters don't move very well. Music tracks are pleasing; sound effects are sweet and abundant. The game runs nicely from a CF card on my Jornada 568. The game itself takes up less than 3MB of space.

All in all, this is a fun game if you're a turn-based shooting game fan. While it has much uniqueness in game design and style, I doubt the Snails hardcore will switch gear to Battle Dwarves. But for the rest of the population, you will find this game charming, fun and pretty addictive!

Playing Hints and Tips
Take time to go through all characters in the army selection, and try out all the weapons.

Arvale returns once again with great soundtracks, that are final fantasy quality. Great gameplay again, if a lil harder than arvale. I suggest playing Arvale 1 first, if u havent. The storyline is linked. And Arvale 2 helps u get used to gameplay easier. (meaning more chances of survival haha)

This game is the best!!! With Hot pursuit and career mode you can't beat it. The cars and the graphics are great! I completed the whole game but I still like playing it, IT'S THAT GOOD!!!! If you read this and you have never played the game before and are thinking of bying a copy of it DO IT!! you won't regret it. Just make sure that your memory is 3 times the amount you need for better game play. Even the playstation version is great as long as you play the game on the first game console. Playing the game on the PS2 the steering is slightly delayed. Warning!! This game is adictive. But it's so much fun. The cop chases are cool. And on top of that the car damage is great, and watching the cars reform in the garage is cool. Like driving really fast and then slam it into reverse and hear the transmission grind, THIS GAME ROCKS!!!! You just have to buy it and play it to know how much fun this game can be.

you can select target install media & directory in WM2003 using cabinstl.exe. additional goody is the option to retain the .cab file after installation. i'm not sure if the file attached is the latest version but give it a try first & google later for a newer (if any) release.

I've pre-packaged the whole thing... all you have to do is copy the "quake" folder in the rar TO THE ROOT of your storage card. I repeat... THE ROOT DIRECTORY OF YOUR STORAGE CARD. I've also included my personal configuration files for the eten m500 and tips on how to run the game full screen landscape. Deathmatch on Wi-Fi is a blast. Up next, Pocket Hexen and Duke. Quick Tip: When mapping controls, don't forget that every single onscreen icon can be remapped also.

This is the full version of the game. Once again, pre-packaged. Just rename the "Pocket Hexen" directory in the rar to "hexen" and copy over to your storage card. Instructions say to copy to the root but it works fine for me from any directory. Still a dyme after all these years... looks and runs GREAT on the PPC. I think this only supports QVGA tho... not sure.

Maybe one of the moderators could start an FPS Only thread and move these posts there? Just a thought.

use a download manager , or direct download it first. it's 110 mb ,then install it on your ppc .

lastly use the serial included in this post. you have to change your Owner Info in \startmenu\settings\personal to the name mentioned in the serial.txt first line , then use the second line in the program to register it.
but beware , you need to have the name changed everytime you enter the game

Duke Nukem 3D. Runs like butta on my eten m500. Just like my other FPS uploads this ducket's prepackaged- just copy the "spvDuke3D" folder to your storage card. Instructions say copy to root, but works fine for me from any directory, so long as it's not more than two levels deep. Got rid of the stock demo level and included the full version game paks using Kextract to rip the music from the game and keep the filesize down. 20MB d'ld.


Configuration:

Read the included readme.txt file!!! It's next to impossible to configure the game key bindings if you don't. You'll need a lot of patience to configure the keys properly... a lot of trial and error... but the payoff's worth it.

Quick Tip: To make your life easier, bind the action (open doors) and walk forward commands to the same hardware button. This way I'd just walk to a door and it'd open automatically. You could also map it to the fire command... just don't do it with a rocketlauncher in hand.
