mate read the description you install it on your phone then have voice over ip (gprs)to skype and googletalk installed on your friends pcs
if you wanna invite your friend to use fring that's something else!

I wannna ask u how to put the name in regis.dat file as per the info file. I opened this file with fexplorer.....when i click on options there is option only for save. There is no way to get into this file for editing the name.
Please suggest me a way to change name.....

send it to your pc,edit it then send it back to ur phone :)

i was goin to do the same way ....... send to PC n edit.....the size of file thought differ now...mine is 14b n yrs 20b. But dont think so that gonnna be problem......

great app mate, hope they'll be able to put out a direct IP connection without any passthrough server, so i wont get charged that big for my 3G connection.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to illusion again.

yeah hehehe, i tried editing it with qselect or smart explorer, hex code by hex code and change it with my userid, coz was too lazy to transfer it to the pc. but failed when registering, still trying :D

yeah have to edit it on pc coz if you used system explorer you won't be able to register though
edit : it works with system explorer unicode editor

I tried putting my name in regis.dat in PC n send back to phone. Now when i open the app on left i can see connect button so i clicked....i selected my access point.........but i ask for access point again n again........n doesnt connect in my case. Maybe not compatible with my phone.....I want to try the app....but i think its my bad luck.

Mate this app is useful for those who have taken free GPRS scheme after paying their nominal charges to their operator. In this way its cheaper than Phone Calls:)

Hi,its works very well for me,i talked to my brother , he was on skype, i logged in to phone with my skype name and password ,works very well,but it COST MONEY,,i have the operator 3 in sweden,",about 1 us dollar per minute" i use NOKIA 6680

@smartjigar_2 if it keeps asking for access point it means you choosed an invalid or not working access point

Your right, 3G access is quite expensive unless your in a data plan, unlimited access or bluetooth passthrough. But some provider doesnt charge access to within the "Network Access" meaning connecting to class a-b IP addresses or local area connection without going out of the providers bottleneck internet connections (like server based services). Also refered to as peer2peer (Serverless connection) on LAN or VOIP over LAN.

Fring will be usefull in a given scenario:

If you have:
Class 2 Bluetooth modified with a 15db Omni Antenna (anything less will just give you 10 meters or so)
Broadband connection on a pc
GnuBox connection with internet passthrough through bluetooth

Given that, your 100ft radius minimum will be boosted, so your free to walk around your house or office with the functionality of the VOIP always at your fingertips. No more staring at the pc just to make a call.

or if you have unlimited data access :D

@illusion: thats my scenario hehehe, using gnubox with my 6630, though rokviper is using the same serial port, and i'm still trying to make fring work, (trying again now, first try changed the userid already, but doesnt prompts for any accesspoint, just outright fail. I tried using GPRS, it connects then still fails and disconnect the connection, but still trying, i think im doing something wrong...) and hoping that it will see the invisible Bt accesspoint, like MINO Wireless voip.

Anyone know how many kb to be used each time log in Fring? Im currently living in Sydney, 3 operator charge 0.4c per Kb. I just want to work out how much do i pay for using this service.

I think this app works only with 3G service n not with GPRS. Bcoz on mine its not working on GPRS. Somone here plz confirm if working on GPRS....

Works fine. 6630 using 3g service. besides voip call,you can also chat. Better be in bundle or unlimited.

it works great with gprs i also found the way u change your name in the reg.dat file copy the file to a different folder using f explorer one u can see when u put your memory card into your card reader then edit it through notepad keep the , at the end of your name save it then put the memory card back into the phone open up f explorer again and paste it back into the same folder u got it from overwriting the reg.dat file then start up the program and put in the same name as u used in the 1 u pasted over hope this helps peeps :)

did u do the same name to register as the 1 u edited in notepad u have to do that and have a gprs connection hope this helps

your problem is coz you are using a not working access point

then write your user name shmulikr7 & any password you want now it should work

i am also using Hutch in Blr, it works well.
did you get your name in the registration screen as id, instead of 'illusion'. if so, you have done the correct editing of regis.dat.
copy that file to desktop and edit it with some text editor. then put it back on to mmc.

Try to install it registering from website instead of using the file posted by Illusion. If you have a data plan (that anyway you must have it if you plan to use it) it doesn't cost any since they send the sms... only thing you need is to give yr phone number. Hopefully they will not share with anybody...

I did this, followed the instructions and now works perfectly with UMTS :)
Call quality not 100% but more then acceptable

Tried also with GPRS, it works but call quality drops dramatically... plus you get disconnected often :(

help me please... upon selecting a nickname and typing my password then clicking next.. a pop-up screen appeared stating "this site ha sent an untrusted certificate. continue anyway?" i selected continue but it stated "registration failed" whats wrong?
