It's quite frustrating.
I have a USB flash(pen/thumbdrive). I have never been able to use it to boot up my computer. I've tried formating it with bootdisk images, with a utility from HP and even installing DamnSmallLinux (using MKBT 2.0) on it.
In my bios I've tried changing virtually all boot settings regarding to USB booting including USB-HDD, USB-ZIP, USB-FDD... And tried using different USB ports.

Nothing just seems to work.
mobo: Gigabyte 8PE667 Ultra2

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks.

Some usb drives simply don't allow you to boot from them, an issue i came across, had some cheap ones lying around, placed xp on one, refused to boot, then got a Kingston stick, worked like a charm. although gigabyte should work, i would recommend checking with the manufacturer (e-mail?) to ensure that you can boot from the device. usb-hdd should do it. ensure that its the first in the boot sequence. I hope you find a solution to the problem, sorry that i wasn't much of a help.
