Where can one replace new Wallpaper / icon or similar one? With the Theme Studio 3.0 was nevertheless completely to the right of the browsers, where one on C: or D: something could search.

How does that work with the Theme Studio 3.1?
If that of one has found from that, please announce. To thanks.

2. You can simply drag and drop external images from explorer or folders etc onto the component placeholder in TS3.1. Just reduce the window size of 3.1 to show explorer (or swap to explorer in a reduced window size with ts3.1 maximized) and drag and drop the files.

I have downloaded the file...thought of splitting and uploading here(like all other versions of TS),but can't,would be against the rules...btw I had stopped the download halfway,when I resumed it started just fine,and its a pretty fast server,took me about 30 mins in all...

Problem solve now. i don't know why, if i using flashget to download. it's can't resume. i try using free download manager. now i can resume. hope i can soon to try this TS. r u test it layz? what ur opinion. could u share some?. :lol: :lol:

First Impressions: Excellent Upgrade!

Well I like the new TS3.1 soooo much better than the last version. Its a lot more stable (old version would unexpectedly quit at times and was slow even with 1 gig of ram). No problem so far at all with this new one.

I only compile for V3 so can not offer comments on themes made for earlier s60 models. But for v3 this program now rocks.

The UI appears confusing at first but 30 minutes into it its like old news. Anybody used to CS2 (premiere and after effects etc should like the new UI).

Previewing themes is so much better now on the fly in the right panels. Although I have noticed some elements/graphics in th epreview do not line up exactly as they do on the phone which is poor work by Nokia. Old TS3 also had a few little glitches like this but this one has many more (eg date box on clock, lines among others). Hope they fix this up in an update soon.

Third Party icons are possible - In preferences is the section for UID's and then the icon can be skinned as per normal icons.

There are also a few new elements now shown in TS3.0 such as popup screen softkeys. Hope to find some more customisable elements as I get deeper into it.

Compiling is working better and transferring can be done within the program rather than swapping out to PC suite.

Making keys for newcommers is simplified also (no more dos command lines).

Some screens (like colours) are not as easy to work through in new UI but its a small scrafice to the new features such as the colour pickers etc.

Overall the speed alone is worth the upgrade for any theme makers for s60 v3.

Thoroughly recommended. Ok now back to theme making :)

the program is fast but choosing icon's masks etc gets very much time i tried to make a theme first you can't import 176x208 bmp file directly to your background you must select it yourself one one by +when you try to create a theme from the program it asks you for some .key files etc i wanted to create a theme but i couldn't able to create a key file..it's my opinion i think other s60 theme makers will have the same opinion with me..

Between i created a key file and certificate and registered the product i will make my next 3rd edition themes with this one of coursewith new icons next year..

But i tried my first 3rd edition theme for 352x416 screen phones so here's the result of course i didn't change the icons just the default ones and it's so simple:lol::lol:

Those are bmp editors or raster editors if I am not mistaken...vector editors are programs like Adobe Illustrator,Corel Draw etc.

for photoshop its impossible to create SVG format & no plugin to make svg with it

for Fireworks also its impossible but you can creat vecteur (*.ai) compatible with illustrator 7

at this time only Illustrator can make SVG format & for info only SVG file with Illustrator its compatible with TS v2.0 & v3.0 & Caribeui v3.1 & also you need to confugure ullustrator beCOZ SVG file for themes its strict in SVG Format

One from existing Themes can take over also other presentations now, as in the old studio Themes 3.0? There one could click to the right, and one had taken over all icons from for example the ARMI Theme.??

Vector Graphics Tips:

1. I find Illustrator the best to use but others will also work to create vector graphics.

2. In Illustrator I have set a template that has all the theme components on different layers at correct sizes/positions etc etc... its easy to do with new TS3.1 as each element shows you the positions and sizes e.g for 352x416 template (0,0,88,88) means positioned top left corner and element is 88x88 pixels in size. Once you take the time to layout blank (no fill or stroke - transparent) elements for all objects in such a template you can quickly and easily make a full theme look in Illustrator without swapping in and out of TS3.1 trying to see what looks good. Just remember to layer each element so you can show/hide each layer as desired in Illustrator. Then once happy with the new theme look start copyinh elements from each layer to TS3.1. To beginners this all may sound complicated but others may understand the benifits in this procedure.

3. In TS3.1 and Illustrator CS2 you may find crop marks around graphics which may or may not be desired depending on the graphic you are working on. Just use the edit menu to delect release crop marks.

4. You do not have to worry about all those things mentione din the help text regarding vector graphics. If you use Illustrator the main thing is draw the element as desired (or convert an exisiting one) and NEVER use strokes (lines). ONLY use fills. If you need a border overlap 2 filed boxes and make the inner one smaller. Then simply let TS3.1 do the conversions back to SVGT.

5. Process to take exisitng element from TS3.1 into Illustrator, edit it and save back to TS3.1 as follows (there are many other ways but for beginners):

5.1. Right click the element in TS3.1 and select edit in vector program
5.2. In vector program select edit menu and release crop marks
5.3. Do a select all to see all objects (often the main element is coupled with another larger bounding box which needs to be deleted)
5.4. Modify element
5.5. Press x to close Illustrator window (when asked to save say yes)
5.6. Swap back to TS3.1 and presto its done and preview updated.
5.7. Save in T3.1 menu or undo as desired.

6. The Template Method (For Experts Much more efficient)

6.1. Create a template with layers as described.
6.2. Copy a particular completed element from your Illustrator template.
6.3. Swap to TS3.1
6.4. Right click and select edit in vector program
6.5. Press play on action script (TIP: Pre setup action to do the following):
- Release Crop Marks
- Select All
- Delete
- Paste
- Close
- Save
6.6. Presto. done!

Before swapping back to TS3.1 copy the next ready made element from Template and repeat steps 3-5.

7. Note: You can edit multiple elements before saving but if you are going to edit the same element again (not happy with it for example) save before editing for the second time.

8. When working with 9 piece elements you can right click in TS3.1 and copy the element and paste over another nine piece element at once. Very handy. Note if you have just finished cusomising all nine pieces save work before copying and pasting over another 9 piece element.

Hope this helps some of you with vector work.

im playing with this TS 3.1, i think this one is the best compare with TS 3.0...faster and easy to edit the items. but the only problem is i can't find the option for browse file from drive C/D/E...so the only way is i must open another screen then using drag/drop or copy/paste option. when i try to edit the active background or idle background i can't move the image...so again, i must edit the image size with other software like ACDse or photoshp.

u can make all default themes can be use for 2nd edition phone like 6600, i tried today. i used fullcolorday theme and create it for 2nd edition phone and installed on 6600 then it works....but folder icon not changes and the text color also not support for 6600.

btw...anyone got transparant image for Solid Navi Pane and Wipe Navi Pane??? i created with photoshop but doesn't work when i paste to TS 3.1...the image not tranparant...just the white color.

n if u want make transparant navipane, u can edit it with ur background pic. u can make it looks like transparant. but absolutely it's not.

u r correct...but i meant use the different image for idle background and active background. With my hard working about 2 days and finally i can make the solid navi pane to transparant...but im not sure the solid navi pane still transparant if u install to the phone. i dont have any symbian phone right now...so i can't test it.

if u use 3250 or N80....please try this themes and let me know if the solid navi pane is transparant.

Transparent Navi pane background Carbide 3.1

(Solid) (Wipe)

Click edit/animate selection-> right click layer 1-> add background->select layer1-> tick channelBlending-click channelBlending under layer1-> slide Blend Factor all the way to the left for full transparency or halfway for medium transparency

svg is a image format... u can create the image and save it in svg format, using illustrator o corel, with trasparent attributes!

try to search in this section put this word in search form "SVG format" you found 3 great topic you can also send PM to BABI but the icons used by babi are made by other user

at this time i learn how to make icons in SVG format but its hard

try to use photoshop and convert yout image into png files. you can set transparancy with png files using magic eraser in photoshop.

First I want to thank all Guys, spezially Themestarter, for that big work in this tread. I think thats these theme Folders are a very Great help for Noobs like me, to start making own Themes.

I said I think because I spent know ca. 3 hours and did the same in the How to ... But I get always the same error ....

I guess that is because I use Theme Studio 3.1. My Initial Luck metabolizes to big frustration....

I write to request, please please can one Guy show me a way to use these genial icons with 3.1. I have a Nokia E60 and I think 3.1 is because of the Resolution the best Version ....

i have a problem. i installed the theme i made. n i can't uninstalled it. the file is not in the applications manager at all.

den i reformatted my hdd. n try to install the same theme i made. but it says unable to install. I tried install in both phone n hdd also says unable to install.

i have to repack the theme in another name den the phone allow to install. i'm using n91.

Hello all,
i really need help with Carbide.Ui (Theme Studio V3.1)
How do i set 3rd part application icons?
the help says i have to to go prefrences->Cardbide-> 3rd Part Icons...
now there i can set the UID and the name...then i have to go to Icons-> Application icons...now i the list i should see the 3rd part app icons i added...
but there arent any!

pls help me guys, im makin a great vista theme right now!
oh and when someone got a small, glassy digital clock, pls contact me :)

Pros:
- Vector are scalable without loss of quality
- Vector need no seperate masks (transparency supported in svg)
- Vector tend to work better with TS3.1 (masks are sometimes slightly out with png for no apparent reason and end up looking grainy/jaggered)
- Vector Parts can be reused easily into other icons

Cons:
- Thin lines (outlines) in vector can sometimes become too thin and look jaggerred when scaled below 1 pixel.
- Vector takes a lot more work to create from scratch as no simple or reliable conversion tracers are available. The ones that are available create far too many paths which results in a larger file and more processor time to render on phone.
- Vector stock art is very hard to find.

uninstall carbide >> delete directory "Carbide.ui S60 Theme Edition 3.1"

and make new install this solve your problem

na mate, i dont mean how to set the icons!

it was the same problem, i added 3rd part icons in the list but in my theme there arent any, then i started a new one: there are they, and now i can set them!!

now i mean, when i finished a theme, let us call it THEME X, and i make a new one, THEME Y, can i import icons from THEME X into THEME Y?

svg is a image format... u can create the image and save it in svg format, using illustrator o corel, with trasparent attributes!

transform image of .bmp file to .svg file or folder..with this program...its easier....but for making transparency I cant make it esp. navigation bar..pls help me

Look at the Point arrow
U have some mistake for the following:
1. size must be the same of original image,by right click1st and "clear" then U can see the original image size,sometimes it s differrent
2 Type of images: look at the original image by the same as 1 ,differrent phone[diff.of platform] are diff.type[specific phone is
specific type of image]

remember always "CLEAR" the new insert images by right click1st.it may be the problem of RAM[hardware ] ,it is not enough and should close all the unnecessarily prog.esp.ANTIVIRUS and OFFLINE.......

you can use TS v1.2.1 to make theme for OS7/8 but Carbide its fast

6630 is S60 2nd Edition, Feature Pack 2

make new theme in carbide

and Select in :

Theme Content

Use default Theme based on release : S60 2nd Edition FP2

and save your theme by selecting :

Target platform : S60 Platform 2nd Edition Feature Pack 2

here test theme for your phone i have edit icons folder only

I have installed the software. But how do i modify or open a existing theme. Theme file extension suppose to be SIS right? All i can see from the software itself is TDF extension? Can i open a SIS file to work on? Very confusing, please advice.

the .sis file is the packaged theme as its supposed to be installed on the phone , you can NOT! edit the .sis theme directly on the theme studio.

the .tdf file is the Theme Data File that contains all the source information on what and and where which thing is supposed to be on the theme you can edit a theme if you have its .tdf file.

so i guess its clear enough about what you can edit and how :)
