If you're running MicroSaft XP Pro you might want to click on start> run type services.msc and hit enter.
Search through the list and look for Messenger.
If this service is running, right click on it, select Properties and stop and disable it.

I would also recommend running Spybot to see what that comes up with.

Hello, I have prob with my laptop that i used to connect it with LAN in my office. LAN is control by a server. The problem is I did uninstalled "Symantec Live Update" program and after reboot, the Symantec Installer automatically appear on desktop to re-install the program due to Norton Antivirus can not be loaded. Unfortunately, this antivirus application program was downloaded from the server 2 years ago by other person. Now, the program not exist anymore in the server. So, I can't re-install it from the original source. Then, I manage to complete uninstall by uninstall the main Norton Antivirus program but Uninstaller asking for password. I need to know...

1. where I could find other sources that I can re-install this "Symantec Live Update" program so that I can repair it?

2. If I can not repair it, how I can get the password to continue the complete uninstallation? I plan to change to Norton 360. I believe the password must be somewhere in my laptop but no idea how to find.

Hope someone knows about this and help me to solve it. Pls hurry! before my boss know about this..LOL

I having a problem with my internet connection using dialup modem. The problem is, Im not able to connect to the internet eventhough my modem is already connected and working. this happens just today but I don't have a problem with this before. Im using XP service pack 1 but now I already upgraded it to service pack 2. I tried disabling the firewall but it doesn't work also. Nothing connects to the internet, not even the YM and other online games of mine. Please help me troubleshoot this.

But Im having too many applications and games installed on my PC which I don't want to loose coz I don't have the installers anymore. then restart it again. Then push any button to boot from cd ..
push it and then delete any partition of your h.d.d and create a new partition for

here's another way

1. insert your windows xp cd
2. run setup
3. select new installation (on setup at windows xp)
4. click next until u reached the option which will ask you what do you want to do, to repair existing windows or to install a fresh copy.
5. choose install fresh copy

here's another way

1. insert your windows xp cd
2. run setup
3. select new installation (on setup at windows xp)
4. click next until u reached the option which will ask you what do you want to do, to repair existing windows or to install a fresh copy.
5. choose install fresh copy
6. choose drive C & format drive using ntfs (dont select quick format it might give an error on future installation)
7. after that just follow the simple steps on installation and all we be done smoothly.
8. enjoy

Thank you my friend! I hope this will work.. I don't want to reformat my PC but I have no choice It's infected by some trojan viruses. I wonder how the hell this viruses penetrates my system though I've been using AVG, MCafee antispyware, and Spywaredoctor. I tried removing these trojans but everytime I restart my PC there they are again, always detected by my antivurses.

BTW, is it possible too if I make a bootable cd then restart and boot from it. And from dos prompt, reformat the c:\ drive? How about that?

I forget to tell that I am using "AVG" antivirus and spyware (It detects that trojans, spywares, adwares but can't clean properly).

My RAM is only 128mb so that my pc also workes slowly and can't install some antivirus also (I am planning to upgrade my RAM to 1 GB)

Insert your Windows XP installation disc in your CD Rom drive, and reboot.
A message will appear asking you whether you want to repair your existing installation. Press Esc to skip this option.
Select the current partition upon which Windows is installed and press "D" to delete it. Press "L" to confirm deletion. Repeat this step until all your partitions are deleted (unless you want to keep some of them).

all the applications in the PC Apps threads are either cracked or patched...each application is accompanied by a crack/patch file which shud be run in the same folder as the file to be patched (mostly C:/Program Files/<Application Name>

and i have seen that it is not fully patched...

please try this Trojan Remover:

1.first install it using trsetup.exe
2.use serial number in the attached Serials.txt with the username given there...
3.after this...run the INSTALL.BAT file....when it is finished working...delete that too...

you must not extract this files man , just rename it and in end give the " .JAR " and just copy to your phone.

live for speed problem i have done everything they been saying these are the steps i take need help!!!

im sorry if this is repeatitive but i tried what ppl have said and nothing still doesnt work an error comes out RIGHT NOW this comp has Windows Vista idk if that the prob ok these are the steps

1 ) I download game and make a folder on Desktop and Extract files

2) I download Crack

3) I HIGHLIGHT KEY GEN AND LFS.EXE from CRACK folder

4) i DRAG AND DROP on LFS FOLDER (without opening LFS GAME FOLDER)

5) window with the options move and replace , DOnt Move and rename etc etc comes out

6) I chose Move and Replace

7) I try Opening LFS error comes out Cannot Open File:data\skins\HEL_DEFAULT.jpg

8) So I try dragging the whole folder instead of extracting one icon at a time to the lfs folder i go in the crack folder and open the LFS Crack EXE like it is and it says "IS LFS CORRECTLY INSTALLED ON HARD DRIVE?? " and a OK button

Sry If anyone had the problem i had with LFS this is the way to FIX it sry i found my problem

1) I d/l the Version from LFS.NET .05 version x (latest version)
2)installed game
3)D/l Crack
4)Highlight and drag LFS.exe and LFSkeygen to Game Folder
5) Replace both LFS.exe with new exe
6) Before anything click here [Only registered and activated users can see links] these are the skins that are missing
7) add them to the SKINS folder
8) Click Keygen put w.e. sn and password generate and click ok
9) OPEN GAME your done

there is an option in the File>Open menu of M$ Word 2007...i cud not tell you right away as i am not using that...but i have seen that option...there you can set an option to alwez open the backward compatible file...try this...if you still could not get it...i will try to arrange a snapshot :)

hey i figured out a way but it might take some time.
First you need to download pdf to text converter and convert your pdf files. Then you download tlpdb.zip and it will allow you to convert the text file you created to pdb. hope that helps =)

I tried lowering the screen resolution. My system meets all the system requirements. My system specs are more than enough for the game. Anyone please help me out.

if it says that the "Desired fullscree display mode not supported" it means that your graphics card is not supported by the game...
NVIDIA and G-Force are two high-end graphics card competitors...some games supported by one of them may not be supported by the high-end card of another...this may be the case with you...

When ever I open my internet explorer a default web page ...a porn site pops out.
I have tried removing it going through the internet options and properties but for time being the problem is solved .....the home page is ABOUT BLANK.
But as soon as I reboot my system this porn website again becomes my home page and I have to again delete it.

What shall I do?

probably malware or something installed in your PC while you installed a downloaded file from the internet. try to use Ad-Aware SE Plus (link below)

I started to install Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 Version 2002 on my IBM Thinkpad A21m and realized that I don't have a working serial and that I also would rather install Windows 2000 because it runs much smoother. My laptop doesn't have too much RAM (128 MB) so I would be better off with 2000. Now I'm at the point in the XP installation where you need to enter the serial number but I just want to boot Windows 2000. Even when I try booting from the disk, it looks like it's going into 2000 but then it asks for the XP disk.

So I have 2 options:

1. Enter a serial that would work just so I could complete the XP installation and then load Windows 2000 from there.

2. Find some program that would allow me to boot from the disk and wipe out everything so I can do a fresh install of Windows 2000.

I don't have the right equipment to hook my laptop's hard drive up to my PC so that's out of the question.

I know there are many wipe programs available and I was wondering which one would be best for my unique issue.

i tried to search for some uninstall programs like uninstall pro but it's in rapidshare which i can never download from...and some other programs like cleanse installer is a uninstaller program that uses the program's unstaller...-.-

there's a lot of things to do when removing a program manually. not only delete the folder that is created for the program (usually can be found under program files folder, unless you specify otherwise when installing), you also must delete the *.dll (direct link library) files that might be created and stored in system32 or system folder. then you must delete all registry strings that are created when installing the program using 'regedit' command from the run menu.

using add/remove program menu for un-installing a program is better because most of the installed files, folders, and registry strings are deleted or removed when un-installing the program.

even then if you are not able to remove any program just delete its files from C:/Program Files/

i do same for some apps...which are really pain in a**...
but at the same time i keep formatting my PC every month to remove those useless files which keep accumulating in the Windows folder...

take my advice..if size of your windows folder exceeds 1.5GB...format/re-install/ghost ur PC... :)

i tried ur method...got rid of mcafee...and installed super utilities...tried everything in that program...and everything still the same...i timed the startup process and it took 10mins23secs to get everything started...

i used to use a lot of LW until the last time i try to open it and something about at the 70% of loading the program , the program shut down byt its self ........??
i have tried many times with other versions also..(unistall & install again) but also the same problem....when the LW try to open at the 60-70% automaticly shut down!!!

Using Yahoomail with thunderbird is problematic. If I were you, stick to gmail when using Thunderbird. =)

does you PC have anti virus? & spywares?

just try this i dont know if it will work but this is something to do with virus & the structure of registry... install trend micro ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) this one is a perfect all around anti virus, it's not user friendly but it's work installing and using it... then install TuneUp Utilities 2007 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) fix your registry and some other computer errors..
