It is possible that the power supply for usb insufficient. fear-otaku 2nd October 2006, 12:44 could be not enough power to your mouse, connection problem? i doubt this to be a software problem, make sure your computer has enough power and that none of the usb connections are loose. nunugramps 2nd October 2006, 13:39 The usb is on my pc not notebook. I don't think it's the power supply cos the power sully is 400 watts. Any diagnostic software to check wattage of the power supply or power supply problem e.g. current leak etc. fear-otaku 2nd October 2006, 13:43 your bios should have most of that information, atleast processor power, plug in the device n see if the voltage drops. Another thing, i have supplied a little program usbview, shows a lot of diagnostic information about the currently connected usb devices, would suggest checking to ensure there are no conflicts. Hope that helps :) :partyman: paul777 2nd October 2006, 17:46 yes this problem comes in WIN XP... try to install XP agen..try to install it fast coz your PC may crash.. thats what hapen to me... ;) toxxic 2nd October 2006, 19:15 do you have an USB mouse? nunugramps 3rd October 2006, 06:05 fear-otaku - thanx man, I'll try your prog when I get back home. paul777 - really?, that's scary man. I'll do it only as last resort tho. toxxic - no usb mouse, just normal card reader. fear-otaku 3rd October 2006, 06:24 i should mention now that i think of it....it could be a driver problem, although i doubt that, ensure that drivers are correct, downloading from the maker of your card reader. But as i said before this sounds like a conflict more than a driver problem...gl nunugramps nunugramps 3rd October 2006, 08:17 Nah .. don't think it's a driver problem. Fow winxp, card readers usuallu use the built-in MS driver. Only win98 drivers are supplied by the manufacturers. Can I just go to Control Panel/System and elete any drivers with the yellow exclaim marks. fear-otaku 3rd October 2006, 11:34 Well if it has an (!) then its a conflict, which you would need to fix. im not sure how you would go about fixing that, would guess uninstall, reinstalling....unplug unused hardware. cant really think of anything else. nunugramps 5th October 2006, 05:43 try to place first the usb reader when pc is off and then turn on your pc and try if it may work Nope, no can do. I plug in the usb reader and switch on the pc. At POST, it reports I have another slave cdrom on ide2 (I only have 1 cdrom on ide2 master) then hangs. I had to switch off the pc and take out reader. nunugramps 5th October 2006, 05:49 i should mention now that i think of it....it could be a driver problem, although i doubt that, ensure that drivers are correct, downloading from the maker of your card reader. But as i said before this sounds like a conflict more than a driver problem...gl nunugramps You're right. It's a hardware conflict. I went to Control Panel/System/Device Manager and found multimedia controller had a yellow ?. I disabled it and reboot the pc. After windows loaded I plugged in the usb reader and the mouse worked perfectly. Thanks to all. pakailah 5th October 2006, 05:51 i think, you used USB HUB, it did conflic nunugramps 5th October 2006, 06:14 No, I did not use a hub, just a normal multi card reader. But I think the hardware conflict occurred when I borroed a friend's external usb hard drive, The system must have recognised it as a multimedia controller. So when I was no longer using the hd, the device manage in Control Panel showed a hardware conflict. That's why whenever I plugged in a usb device, the mouse went bonkers Only after I disabled the multimedia controller in Control Panel, the mouse performed ok with a usb device plugged in. Anyway, thanks again. |
