hi. if you would like to change your 512mb pro stic duo memory card. read and follow the instructions below. BTW I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSISBILITY FOR THE CONCLUSION OF YOUR PHONE. YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

:iphonepost:

This is how you convert a 512 pro duo card to 1gb

Apparamtly every card supplied with a w800 ect has this ability
512 -> 1024!

and you dont even need any programs, its working with the Disk Manager from WinXP (I dont have Win2000 so I could not test it).

First of all, I am not responseble for any loss of data or any damage of your Hardware. But I can tell you that there is no need to be afraid that the hardware will be damaged. You can, if you have problems, put the memorystick in phone and format it in the phone and everything is ok again...

- Save your stuff from the memorystick.
- Put the stick in the phone (only tested with K750i)
- stick the phone to the cable
- start Disk Manager, you will see the formated and the unallocated space
- mark the Drive icon (of the phone) in the above table, where your partitons are indicated
- If marked, a X type icon appears under the "FILE | ACTION...etc" menu, the X type Icon is for deleting...
- press it and it will delete your partiton for the memorystick, then you have 1 big partiton which is unallocated
- now just make a new partion, and format it using FAT or FAT16
- thats it... now you turned your 512 mb stick into a 1024 stick

I tested it right after doing it and I was able to put more than 600 mb on it, but it had some problems, the phone went of everytime I turned the cam on. But thats actually it. I think its because I stored a Image file which was bigger than 500 MB... its working now perfect, I deleted the 500 mb big image file...
if more problems occur I will let you know...

Thanks for teaching everyone how to scam like the ripoff merchants on eBay.

Seriously, your extra 512mb will never work and it will just give errors when you try to put more data on than the card actually has capacity for.

OK STOP LAUGHING NOW .... its NOT POSSIBLE WITH SONY cards but it IS POSSIBLE with SANDISK cards ... reason ... some 1gb cards do not quite make the mark at quality control so the 1 mb card is marked down to 512mb so they can still sell them instead of throwing them away! .. whats happening in the above guide... is that the AREA marked off as unsuitable to be a 1gb card then is being re-enabled or made visable to the mobile after being marked invisible by sandisk quality control ... if you wanna term it like that :)

some people have god luck with this trick and it works fine but most of the time it will be VERY unstable and data will be corrupted :(

so NOW YOU KNOW! :D

dudes...
i've seen this tutorial long time ago...
and as far as i read, its just only a glitch... which will make a 512MB memory stick shows 1024MB in it's capacity...
still... u can only use 512MB, and not more...
even if u made to copy more than 512MB, most of the files will be corrupted...
a year back, i can understand people trying to double their 512MB memory stick capacity, coz the price difference between 512MB and 1024MB is quite significant...
but not now...
the price difference between 512MB and 1GB memory stick, is just a few US$...
so if u wanna get bigger memory stick capacity, i will recommend u to get 1GB or 2GB (slightly more expensive than 1GB, seriously...)
better than buying 512MB and risking ur memory stick and worse... ur data... trust me, it's not worthy...
anyway... just my 50cents...

and yeah.... this is not the proper place to write a tutorial...
