"Some s60 apps"??? Only specific apps for OS 9.1 can be installed on OS 9.1 phones... There is no way to install, for example ALON Dictaphone, on 3rd edition phones...

There´s no need to say sorry... We are all learning here... But apps for 3rd edition phones are not compatible with older phones... They have different platforms... Apps for OS 9.1 have .sisx extension and for OS 6/7/8 .sis.... From the other side 3rd edition phones are protected so you can´t see system folders using file explorer, apps for 3rs edition phones should be Symbian Signed.... It´s a long list...
