i am trying to create a theme in carbide 3.1. the problem is the theme has white back ground and the text in the music player is also white hence it is not visible. i tried to change the color of many elements but it would always remain white on my N73. the music player1 and 2 has all its colors set to black, but still the text on my n73 is invisible. what should i do??

Yes that's what i mean.
But it looks so as that are not the correct section. But is it not possible maybe to change one by one of the blue colour and then test the theme on your mobile. I mean to change one of the blue to black, compile the theme and testing on your mobile. It looks so that you haven't so much blue colours (not all could it be), bit work, but that the only one i can write now.
I haven't a 3rd edition mobile so i can never testing anything.

Maybe another member/ theme creator know more without changing one by one.

Well you can always try and test, what fits better with sunlight. But usually white theme with black text or just simple total black theme with white texts, where you can see the texts. No colorful themes, couse in the bright sunlight you can`t even depose the colors.

Use a memory card reader or install the same theme/s again and then you will see them in the app manager again. Or do the easy, but a worst way; Format your memory card...

The problem with the app manager and themes installation is that themes that you install on your phone memory can be deleted from the app manager, but the ones that you install on your memory card doesnt show up on the app manager.

In the app manager menu you can see every installed app, and the icons of every app there is a red or blue cube looking thing on the icon, red means that the app is installed on phone memory and the blue cube means that its in the memory card.

So you just need to physically delete the theme thats in your memory card, with memory card reader.

I'm leafing a lot with what you say m8. Red cube means: symbian app;

thank u for the fast replay, Blazers, but the file explorer that are available for the os 9.1 right now is SExpolorer ( which is not really good) i'm using E 61, i could open the E but can't go to the sys it says unable to excute file for security reasons.

You were directed to go to System folder not sys folder. In all the E series ph you won't be able to access Sys and private folder with the help of Explorer. If you wish to access those folders you will require Card readre and PC.

well i m having the problem with the newest babi s themes..like white and color black and color...and all the new themes released after nokiatca..the theme i get in my phone is much different from the screen shots which is shown by the theme maker..this problem only occurs when i tired using babi s themes...this is screen shots from the latest theme black and colors :(

select the background which you want to edit, maybe the idle, use a wallpaper in 240x320px as png or bmp per drag and drop to the smaller window under the big preview

To use a certificate you have two options:

1. create your own as you can read in the usermanual pdf file of carbide.

2. you use a finished certificate if you can't create your own


Her a small 'how to' use a finished key pair for a certificate

Don't know how much svg editors exits, as professional tool is illustrator the best, but cost (normally :ashamed:) money. As freeware are often inkscape used, but i have sometime problems with images or icons are created with inscape, they would not or not correct shown in carbide.

How To Create Transparent Wallpapers?????

As first you need a bitmap editor which can save/ export the edited image as transparent png and they should have a magic tool and eraser with selectable options. Most of the available bitmap editors could do this.
Next step is to open a jpg or bmp in your editor. A bigger image, if available, is better, because it's easier to see the borders of that what should be shown on your mobile.
If your jpg/ bmp has a plain coloured background around the figure or whatever are on the image are shown then you can use the magic tool. Select with this tool the plain background colour and cut it. Play a bit with the options of this tool to find a good border to the image, not to fine, because things of the shown image would also cutted, but also not to hard, because things of the background colour would not cutted and you see a border around the image.
Some images could not be edited with the magic tool. For this is it better to use the eraser. Here the same, play with the options to see how it works and looks.
If you are finished with this and you think it looks fine, then you can fit the background to the image, because you cutted parts and the image is now smaller as the background.
Next is to transform to the correct size, max 240x235px for mobiles with 240x320px screen resolution. Be sure to use the right aspect ratio, otherwise the image looks streched. You can also use a smaller size for the image, but the transparent background must be always 240x235px. Means if you like can the image 100x100px or 160x160px as example on a 240x235px background.

For screenshot, yes u can use screeshot by antonypranate.

for editing themes. u must have the tdf files. u can get it at themes section, our theme master has share out some their image.

If u just deleted ur old themes in private folder and now u want install back, in some phone this can't be done. so u must extract the themes.

One more thing, in the preferences area I saw the Third Party Icons box. Or is that a way to put new icons in it, for example I want a new folder for ... puh, for pics of my football team. ;) You know what I mean? If so, what's the Application UID?

If you change only the backgrounds, then is 36kb possible. But if more (highlight backgrounds, icons, grid and so on) then is most of the time the file bigger. But as you wrote you can't open your tdf file in carbide again, then is something wrong, so you should create a new one.

The uid is needed if you want to use also your icons for 3rd party software, so the icon of the installed software looks so as your changed icons. You need also a uid if you want to change all folder icons, so they would shown on hacked mobiles. There exits many posts with the uid's of the folder icons, also of 3rd party icons.
Use the search function of the forum with the right and important keywords to find the posts.

The icons have normally nothing to do with the error. But if you changed them the file would be bigger, take a look to the themes with changed icons, most of them are over 500kb (with svg icons) or nearly 1mb or bigger with colourfull png icons. Select an icon to see the correct size, some are 60x60px, other 49x49px or 53x53px and so on. If you use a 48x48px instead of a 49x49px, thats no problem, only a 60x60px for 49x49px looks not so good.
For the background is 320x320px possible, use 'Keep Aspect Ratio' in the Properties window.

After some strange problems with carbide I have just a rather simple question. ;) Does anybody know if there's a chance to change the colour of the sms text. It looks as if you can change everything you like, but not the black colour of that text.

I had the 3.1 version installed, but after a problem with it during the package creating I changed to 3.2.

I'd switch back when changing the sms text is only possible with 3.1.

Try to change - Main Area Items -> Main Area Text, because it called also editable textbox

Therefore use some creators bars if they want to use the idle background also for the musicplayer or you use the menu background for the musicplayer.

U can't modify any 3rd themes unless u have tdf files. so u must request from themes author.

Try to change - Main Area Items -> Main Area Text, because it called also editable textbox

As you wrote and shown on your screenshot use the musicplayer on the top and on the bottom the background from the menu background. So you have two options for a better look:

1. You used bars on the top and bottom, as example in black or another colour which works with the backgrounds.
2. You use the menu background also for the player

Just put *.mbm, *.mif, and *.skn files in one folder in E:\private\10207114\import\
Ur phone is OS 9.1, so theme is placed in one place. Unlike mine (OS 9.2) have two (private and resource).
Good luck! But remember, OS 9.2 themes might not be fully compatible with OS 9.1 phone.

I have this theme "Haze", a very nice one with dark tone mix, but the problem is the creator forgot that the number when we dial is White, and he left the dial number area white too, so I can't see what I am dialing. When somebody call me, the area is also white.

Can anybody help me change it to another color in order that I can see it ?

And about the white lines...I don`t know anything else, you could do, than just erase the lines and save the image again. Don`t know, cause you didn`t give the image, so I couldn`t see it well, what you ment.

Try use background eraser tool on photoshop.

I can`t see any other lines, than those, that I marked with red. So to remove those, you can just use the Erase tool, like I showed in my screenshots.

Hey this is just an idea, not sure if it's been mentioned before.

Is it possible to create a theme which could periodically change its colour scheme? it's an idea from the sony XMB system which changes colours cos of time of the year and date. i'm not sure if that would count as a theme or a proper app, but yeah. Would it be possible to create something less detailed of course, say a theme changing colours depending on the day of the week?

Sis files can't be edited in carbide. You can extract/ unpack a sis file and look if there a mbm file exits. In this file are all bitmaps (if used in the theme). These bitmaps can also extracted to edit. But it's much work, the icons, if available, are bitmaps (white background) so you need also the masks and so on.

When i create themes from carbide theme creator, it asks 4 certificate

i have 2 themes installed on my e51 which don't work properly. one is black&blue v2 by taieb and the other one is NOapple_yI. i don't know the real names, if these are.
so when i want to plug my phone to the laptop via usb mass drive, the theme turns to a kinda blue. it's really confusing.

Nokia Symbian mobiles can't use a fullscreen wallpaper. The wallpaperscreensize for 240x320px (N95 as example) is 240x235px. The other option is to use as example a software called DIY. Don't know if there some other software also available. Or you create a simple theme (only wallpaper changed) and use it, then are the background also fullscreen.

Yes, Blue_ray is the own theme creator who protect his themes, so they can't be install, only you have the personal passwort. :hehe: ......was a joke!

Use the pc suite and usb connection to put the sis file to your mobile or a direct connection to see the device as mass storage or you have a cardreader, then use it for your memorycard, copy the sis file on the memorycard, put the memorycard back to your mobile, go to the sis file and open it to install.

I use simple fonts all the time, but I still don't get them to look perfect on the phone's screen, as I mentioned earlier, the digits don't look sharp as in Carbide, this is the only problem that I'm facing

I'm making a theme in Carbide 3.2 with 20 folders in menu, the 15 that we all know and 5 more that I got from the last appshelldata.xml mod of Albertobom and LexosNokiaN95. The problem is that I know 15 of the 20 major and minor id's of the folders... How do I know the other 5 major and minor id's?

I've tried to take a look into smartthemes.ru but it's all in russian.. :(

If you need my appshelldata.xml (in spanish) to help me just tell me.

@appadict: u can't set a transparent png in N70 phone, the effect will not the same as in OS 9.x phone. But u can modify it as if it is transparent: for e.g. take screenshot of a theme, cut where the wallpaper should be placed (176x144), and then add some png to the cutting wall. Just use the search, example "e90 themes", "full SVG". I don`t have e90 to test, but I think usually all Full svg themes should work also on e90 screen and also check "Giambi themes", cause I think Giambi`s themes should work on e90. And latest theme of Rugge "Flames" looks nice on e90. Just give it a try. If you can`t find any, PM me, I will see, what I can do.

Why there are so many themes creator prefer to make Fix Measurement version than SVG theme version?
What I mean by Fix Measurement is a theme which easpecially made for 240*320version, 320*240version, E90version, or etc.

Cause it's more easier to find a good raster image rather than vector image.

if u have vector image, then try to share at here. if themer interested, maybe then will use ur image.

Then, load the installation EXE and it will install. Please note that there will be some graphical glitches within the installer, but you can still install it OK.

Once installed, Theme Studio will work as normal.

Please note, however, that both the installer and the actual Theme Studio itself will automatically disable Windows Aero during use. Aero will be enabled again once you exit Theme Studio.

But anyway, Carbide is better, faster and don't need so much ressources, so it's not needed anymore to use the old Theme Studio.

I would like to get that oplogo changer to my nokia N95 8GB, but the problem is I wasn`t a tester so basically I`m unable to install that application, and my phone is not hacked. I think if you have some sort of dev. cert., than you are able to sign that app, but I don`t have that either. Do you guys think that anyone can sign that app if I provide my IMEI, or simply forget about it? I mean can it work that way with the dev. cert., or that`s just boloney? Thanks!

I know this will work. but not 100% compatible with vista. sometimes it's will closed automatically. so i suggest will latest version rathen than this.

Has anyone got a copy of the latest Nokia N96 themes they can share?

I hope someone can help me with my problem.
I'm currently creating my first theme for my N95-1 in carbide ui 3.3 and have a couple of problems i'm struggling to solve, they are

At the top of the menu's i have a white patch and i can't get it to transparent to show wallpaper or any colour at all.

Also there is a white band on the idle screen where the small icons go, ie bluetooth icon, can't seem to get rid of it.

Also when i started using carbide ui it was ver 3.2 and i'm sure that when i clicked on a component it showed it in the screenshot window but now it does not. Any ideas???

Also if anyone has any third party acidsonic icons to share i would really appreciate it.

I try to capture screenshot of K-rally, and SkyForce, but the results always just a white screen.Why is that? I tried so many applications, but none of them were able to do the trick.Apps like: screenshot, screensnap, wibcapture, mobiola applications, and some others but can`t remember their names right now. Another way to format some symbian phones :
Power off phone. Press and hold Green, * and 3 and keep them held whilst powering on and for a few seconds after.

I think the best way to do is to update your phone again.

It`s not possible to edit theme with sis/sisx file. You need the tdf file.

I have problem with downgrading my 6220c. I installed Phoenix 2008, and tryed to downgrade from RM-328_EMEA_03.23_v2.01 to RM-328_EMEA_03.06_v1.07
All I get is this message:

You need an application..theres many for the UID`s, example UID Viewer, JBAK Taskman etc. I use JBAK Taskman my self, it`s good.

ok so i have two sis themes..... i want to use one theme and the icons from the second..... is there e program out there that can replace the icons in a theme with the icons from another one? or at least open and edit the mbm, mif, skn files obtained from opening the sis in siscontents?

I have n95 8gb with new firmware(V30), my problem is when I install themes I get message saying uninstalled applications on mass memory install from application manager at phone start up. Can somebody tell me how to remove tht ? I already cracked it to install unsigned applications.

Havin problems with changing java icons in carbide ui 3.3, building FP1 themes.
I hav the uid for the java app, added it in third party icons, selected the icon but it dose'nt show on the phone.

Any theme masters help me?

You can`t change Java application icons on Carbide.

Alot of themes here are great but the problem I'm facing is with Icons of "Office" and "Help" these icons doesn't change in alot of themes on my E51, Can anyone tell me how I can change these icons according to my themes.,

Because my E61's Application Manager is unable to showed the theme which installed in miniSD, I browse the miniSD via PC to deleting miniSD's all contains within Private > 10207714 > import.
But now, I still unable to re-install that theme. Why?

So... I am also using this great theme from Invaser, & thats how my Phone looks today! LOL !!! But...

How can I manage to have the same menu folder icons shown on the above attached picture? What do I mean? I created some new menu folders named for example Internet, Multimedia, Games, etc. But the menu folder icon that is used is just the standard yellow one from Invaser theme... The only few menu icons folders that are similar to the ones above are on my phone the Tools, Applications, Gallery folders menu icons... What I would like to do is to change those simple yellow icons to some of the ones used on the above pics, for example the Internet icons & some other folders...

How can add & use those marvelous icon folders seen on the attached picture? Thanks for any info, clues or simply pointing me out to where I could find some answers on that one!!!

before i install coreplayer, when i apply themes my realplayer icon change(not default icon).

After i install coreplayer, my real player change back to default icon and the coreplayer icon change to the icon used by my realplayer before i install coreplayer.

when i un-install coreplayer my realplayer icon still default icon. i re-apply and change a few themes also realplayer still default icon.

How can i solve this problem. Now im using HTC by Invaser for my N73.

Well, I don`t know much about theme making, but I guess that phone uses different major and minor ID`s for those folders. Some Theme master or someone could light up this more.. :D

I don't know if this is the right section to open this thread. Please Mods move it to the correct section in case it's not.
I don't know about you guys, but I own an E90 communicator and I'm very frustrated when it comes to themes.
I tried to use Carbide UI to create my own themes but unfortunately it doesn't support E90 (Hello Nokia, you there?)
There are lots of great themes on this forum but as soon as I install them, the background looks pixelated on the inside screen.
I would like to have wallpapers that cover the whole screen, so applying images as wallpapers from the phone is out of the question...
Till now I haven't found a theme maker program that supports my phone. Can you guys help me with that?
I installed ThemeDIY but the wallpapers look fine on the inside screen but on the outside they're shrinked to fit.
Any ideas? please guys help me as I cannot find themes for E90 that fit my taste.

It's always the problem on the E90 if in the theme would be png/ bmp/ jpg wallpaper are used. So use only svg themes or if png then with plain coloured background.
