View Full Version : In NOKIA, Customer is cared till he buys. After that, who cares !!
amar_top 13th October 2006, 23:07 I had recently bought a Nokia N91 handset for Rs 28,000, about 3 months back. Within a week, it had to be dispatched to customer care centre due to malfunctioning. I received the phone back after a month. After a month again, it had to be dispatched to Nokia care centre on 5-Sep-2006. The target date for delivery was 5-Oct-2006. In Nokia, it takes minimum 1 month to repair any phone. The complaint number is 2-1JKT61.
Upon inquiring on helpline about my handset after 10 days, I was told that the new target date is 30-Sep-2006.And, upon inquiring on 30-Sep-2006, they confirmed delivery, and that I could collect the handset from the Nokia care centre. Similarly, SMS status, indicated “Status closed, Send to L3”. It seems Nokia believes, the term L3 is very informational, and satisfies the customer’s query.
Upon reaching the center, I was informed, that they have no information about the delivery of this handset. Further, there was no revert mail about the handset delivery from the head office. It was very encouraging for a person who had just driven 15km drive to the center in just over 1.5 hrs.
I was told to wait another 48 hrs and thereafter, another 12 hrs. I was further assured, that Nokia repair cell would inform me about the handset.
Of course, they has never called till date.
Obviously feeling frustrated, I aggressively inquired on the helpline about the handset. I was asked to behave professionally by the helpdesk of the company. But in events till date, Nokia has not showed professionalism as expected from this company. Further, my monetary investment is blocked due to this negligence.
After personally visiting the Nokia care centre, I am now told, there are scores of cases in this model, and that my case is not so special. And, there will be no refund or replacement.
When challenged about dragging Nokia Customer Care to consumer court, they openly claim that this case will be dismissed from the court without success, and till the case continues, the handset will not be returned.
It seems the Nokia as a company has not only employed good lawyers, but also the judges, who will always deliver the case in their favor. After all, consumer safety laws of this country are not strong enough to teach Nokia a lesson.
I will be moving a petition against nokia in consumer court, and I would request all Nokia handset owners who have suffered the agony of the nokia customer care to unite and fight against this injustice.
sadam_hussain 15th October 2006, 10:46 dude this scenario is not only in mumbai butthroughout the country.i gave my nokia 6270 to the nokia care and they gave me back after two months. another trage thing which i came to know that these people are misusing their services
for e.g. the nokia care people buy second hand sets from the market and make a severe fault in the phone which cannot be tackled easily.then they send it to the company for swapping.now after a month or so they receive a new phone after being swapped.it is a kind of investment of these people and they sell the swapped phone claiming to a brand new like second hand phone
they r not to take care of their customers but to take care of their own pockets
hullu123 15th October 2006, 16:07 in finland they really care about our phones and stuff... i dont know... they should care about other countrys too! RIGHT???
Kevlarsjäl 15th October 2006, 17:32 in finland they really care about our phones and stuff... i dont know... they should care about other countrys too! RIGHT???
yes here in sweden too they care much.
Probably are the nokia centers in other countries that are not goot to deal with customers, not the Nokia brand problem. I dont know.
Dmoe 15th October 2006, 20:23 in my country you can return faulty phone up to 4 weeks as i did with my n80 . Got replacement quite quickly and my local centre has 4 day repair time ! As demonstrated in my area all is good with nokia and firmware upgrades take only about 10 minutes at the centre :) all my dealings with customer care via phone calls have been good too. It seems your very unlucky and really hope you beat nokia in this case and get good compensation ! Br. Dmoe
LayZ 15th October 2006, 23:16 Moved from User Problem and Support section...about the problem you have mentioned,I can tell you that you may not have had such a problem had you gone to a different Nokia Customer Care...I had a similar problem with a Samsung service center close to my home(I actually came to know of all the shady business that goes on there),they withheld my phone for about 2 months and ultimately gave it back worse condition than it originally was..then I went to a different service center and they repaired the phone within a week(albeit for a pretty big sum of money, but at least they did)..
arnab_2006 19th October 2006, 21:08 dude i have a 3230 and i faced a weired prob..the display was turning grainy and freezing every now and then..i gave it to the service center (AM FROM KOLKATA,INDIA)..after 2 days they gave it back and said the prob was solved..after a few days the prob returned and i took it there again..now they said they would give it back within a day...nxt day i went there again and they asked for 48hrs...after 2 days when i went there they said there was some prob that they did not know how to solve so they r send in it to delhi..after a week i went there and found that my cell had some prob with main board and they will return it after 3days ...as promised they returned it...but i had to travel (50+2)kms for 5 days and had to spend 1500 bucks just to get the cell repaired...
mikhaelalv 9th January 2007, 15:15 As said, I do not think it's the brand name which is bad but those employees that bring shame to it's good name. Shame on them and not to nokia.
gt_thegame 19th January 2007, 18:39 they do take their time... but i dont know... in delhi when i had a prob with my phone they repaired it within 3 days... maybe coz it was just a firmware problem... but i bet if they cant fix ur phone, they will give u a new one...

Dansco 21st January 2007, 18:32 Nokia like most companies, can't wait to sell you something but as soon as that happens they don't care anymore.
I've had several problems with my N71 and I've emailed Nokia 4 times and only 3 replies (one a month later) with "there's nothing we can do, please take it to the NSC) yet they had no idea either.
I recently had the good old stuck in offline mode and spoke to the NSC and they said it was a level 5 fault and needed to be sent back to Nokia. Only a 4-6 weeks wait and I've only had the phone 3 months! :(
murukan_ 31st January 2007, 18:08 Same problem with my N73, its camera hangs always while using the camera and needs to be restarted. I contacted nokia service centre 5 times , But no use. they repeately reloaded with one to one another firmware available with them, but still the problem persists. Now Service centre says it should be sent to Nokia main office ,pune. The duration for it is as per them ismin 25 days or more. Is this a reasonable period ??????
Friend any one having the email address of nokia india main office!!! when ever i tried to contact nokia via www.nokia.co.in / ask nokia the mail same time bounce back and comes to my email address. Can any one say why so?
Thanking You.
Amb!!!
lzechariah 11th March 2008, 17:03 Before, Im working in an Authorized NOKIA Service Center in philippines. In our Company, the management are to strict that they wanted a "Super Fast Service", i.e., for Level 1 & 2 repair of Nokia phones walk-in customer will only have to wait for a maximum an Hour only! and for Level 3&4 it should only take 1 day from the time the end user (Customer) hand-in their phone to us. Other bulky repair (Dealers giving a huge number of phones) will be handled by different team of our company dedicated for them only and it should only takes 2 days from the time we receive the phones. There are some excemptions though, those phones that inhibits problems that is uncommon or symptoms are not inherent and find it difficult to repair, then it would take a lot more longer to repair.
That is the System of repair before! Now since Im no longer workin there, ain't hear much news from them!
In Middle East and Africa, NOKIA, deviced a new SYSTEM(process) of repair for their products.
There are still Authorized Service Center but most are restricted to do LEVEL 1 & 2 ONLY!
Level 1 & 2 Authorized Service Center- Only firmware upgrade, replacement of Mechanical Parts. Soldering of few Common Chips like fuse or LED.
Nokia designates few Numbers of "REPAIR FACTORY" in each country (Maybe 1 or 2),that can do Level 3 & 4 repair. They are the one that can do anything to your phone, repair classification from Level 1 up to 4 can be done here.
Nokia Repair Factory does not take any phone from end-user! Faulty phones have to be received from ASC first!
Here is the point!
If your problem can't be handled by those Level 1&2 ASC (Authorized Service Center), then they will have to send it to RRF (Regional repair Factory)!
Imagine how long it will take to repair your phone!
Here is the view:
Customer (will bring the faulty phone to dealer [small shops])
Dealer will send the phone to L1&2 ASC (otherwise, customer can go directly to ASC)
ASC will inspect and diagnose the product first!
If it can't be repaired from there, they will have to send it to RRF.
it needs COURRIER to pick-up the phone from ASC (NOTE: ASC will send phone by bulk, so if your phone is the only one that have to be send to RRF it will wait for other faulty phones for delivery to RRF)
RRF will inspect the product again! (They don't trust ASC! :p)
Will diagnose and repair the phone! (If Beyond repair, wil check if there is a replacement stock, otherwise will still have to wait for it for a long time! Especialy Newly released models!)
RRF Logistic will send the phone back to ASC thru COURRIER again! (NOTE: Will still have to accumulate a number of phones first for economic reason!)
ASC will receive the repaired phone from courrier!
Lucky for the customer's if ASC will ring them once they receive the phone (It seldom happens!)
Finnaly customer will have to come to ASC to collect their phone! (*crossfinger* hoping that it is really repaired!)
Imagine how long it will take to Service your NOKIA phone using this system!
Minumum of 1 week, if Im right!
So, hope that your FAULTY NOKIA Phone are only Level 1 or 2 so it can be repaired a little bit faster (and make sure your ASC service are good enough!). Otherwise you would have to bear the SUFFERINGS! :D :D :D
