If you haven't done it yet, try to use another USB-port. And does it work with other computers ?

thumb drive is usb drive, same thing, make sure your usb drivers are installed properly man, and when you put in your usb dirve make sure that the correct divers are installed by windows, or you can go t your usb maker website and download their drivers.

you are using a SP2 windows xp right? supposedly you dont need anymore drivers for a thumb drive, usually a thumb drive is a plug and play device, even an ipod could be either used as a plug and play device. i do suggest to try to insert ur thumb drive in another usb port on pc, if you are using the front usb try to use the back or put a usb hub in between then place ur thumb drive in the hub, this is based from experience and it had work.

have you also tried to insert other thumb drive in ur cpu? does it work? well then if it works then most probablt the problem is at ur usb drive. as what u have said it had able to access other computers but then sometimes errors pop ups.

update/reinstall your asus drivers from their web site if available....

when using the usb device, plug it only when your pc has completed the boot process. wait for sometime then plug in, if u still get the error message after driver upgrade/rollback then last solution is win xp re-install....

your device is fine if other pc can detect and u can use it properly w/o crashes. always click on the icon in taskbar and select "safely remove hardware" berfore unplugging any usb plug n play device.
