1. go to bed early
2. drink lots of water even before u sleep.
3. sleep in complete darkness as light affects ur mental sleep
4. sleep in a well ventilated room

Whoa, this is least to say interesting. Sleeping is a very important part of a man's life... it implies the regeneration of our energy reserves. I'm gonna change my sleeping times.

Thanks for the article.

One more important thing to add, dont engage yourself in some 'thinking' activity like TV, or a book................Coz when u try to sleep you will keep thinkin of those things.......i have this problm.... :(

listen to soft music instead........or read a comic.....something that is easy on your brain...

As everyone said, sleeping is a beautiful process that happens every night. It is an important process as it helps growth, and releases stress. It relaxes the muscles, releases the brain from a whole day of thinking, stabilizes your heart beat rate.

But noone ever mentioned about quality of sleeping? You may sleep 5 hours with quality, and it is much better than 10 hours without the perfect quality.

If you want to know more, please do ask. Quality of sleeping includes the perfect tempreature, the perfect darkness and of course a good pillow. Did I forget to mention perfect moist too?

:goodman: You've all made good points about this topic of "How sleep effects your body and brain". :)

- I too have tried some of your "methods" of how to get to sleep, what to sleep on and so on... Some work, some don't <----my experience and opinion only.

:| -Although, There are times when I was in the military (US ARMY) and during combat when sleep "EXTREMELY EFFECTS" your body & brain.

I'm talking about: The Stress, The Anxiety, and not to mention The Adrenaline that many people exhibit during various situations in life. I'm not just talking about my military experience either.

-There were times when after my military experience, that I thought that I would finally be able to get a "normal and highly required" 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. :)
 -I couldn't have been more wrong. During Combat (Iraq/Afghan: Urban Warfare) Sleeping "IS" considered a luxury. Not to mention, the "remedies" to get to sleep once we're giving the time or persmission to rest/sleep. But, the anxiety of the next mornings mission, or the adrenaline in my mind and body was still producing after we've been "Breaching Doors" and "Engaging the enemy" all day and we knew it wasn't healthy. But, it was the "norm" everyone, everyday, all day and every day. But, those are my memories.

:) And now I've been out of the military, and in the private sector. I still have problems going to sleep. With my work and the responsibilities, I've been given. There are maybe 1 or 2 days of the week (including Weekends) that I get 8 hours of sleep. I mentally know that I'm suppose to leave my work before I walk through the front door of my house. But, it's hard. I don't know if it's because of me being asian (filipino) has anything to do with it ??? And the idea of always trying to excel in my life ?? I do think it does have something to do with it. I'm not sure ??

Maybe it's just a part of life and that the majority of people struggle with too. I just wonder if anyone knows, unless they discuss it. How much each individual/person, slept last night. Some of you should do the following: Take a poll of who "actually" slept 8 hours, and record your findings for 2 weeks. And Take into account what each individual/person does for a living (work/school/etc...) and determine what "EXACTLY" did that person do, and the time he/she climbed in bed (each night).

-Maybe, someone on here (this forum) could determine that the so called "8 hours" of uninterrupted sleep (no matter what remedy) is not a normal way of our lives. Because if it was, We wouldn't "NEED" a remedy of how to fall asleep.

Anxiety and Stress, is a part of my (accepted) life. It doesn't have to be, but it is... :goodman:

Hi Camilla... Yes, we have both hobby before bed time. The most impt. thing b4 we sleep is to pray and appreciated everything we had to our God.
