View Full Version : Gmail J2ME
dvp 3rd November 2006, 00:05 I dont know how to extract an app. but if you go to [Only registered and activated users can see links] from your cell, you can get the new gmail aplication.
All options from pc are available from cellphone
According to Google the application provides up to five times faster access and use of Gmail thanks to automatic pre-fetching of messages. I'm not sure it is five times faster but it feels rathar snappy. The application is also optimized to reduce the number of clicks of keystrokes used to scroll, compose, search and read email.
If you don't have a Gmail account you can sign up for an account from gmail.google.com. An activation code will be delivered via SMS.

jakeypal 3rd November 2006, 12:29 Hey, guys!
Frankly, I expected more from Gmail. This application is still raw and unfriendly. Once you entered you login and password you can't change it and it keeps asking you to let it use the network services of your phone and it keeps asking you what connection to use EVERY TIME you start it.
Until they fix these things it's a piece of crap. Profimail is way better.
Cheers
chilko 3rd November 2006, 12:45 that gives me error when launching after install. try to download through wap broweser (services)
supasound 3rd November 2006, 12:55 i think this is very useful app but

The-CROW 3rd November 2006, 15:23 I downloaded it fine on my N80, but when I tried to run it, it gave an error... Something about full canvas support in Nokia.... I guess it's because of the screen resolution.
Was anyone able to use it on N80?

yes,
this app lets you view documents, but you can not save them.
the problem is for example ppt or pdf docs, this app lets you view only text versions...
also animated .gif you can see only first frame.

deuxani 11th November 2006, 18:42 Als not working on my N73. I downloaded it yesterday, and it asks me 2 times which Access Point to use... 2 times I click on T-Mobile Internet and after that I always get the message "Network Unavailable, this program requires a working data connection. Please check your signal strength." The Web, Services and Opera Mini apps all work perfectly, so I don't know what's wrong here.

In order for this app to work, you have to log on to your Gmail via your pc/laptop. Go to settings/ Language/ Choose US English!!! This worked for all the people I've recommended to do this, it should work for you as well!!!

I have attached an image of my pop and forwarding gmail settings in case it has any bearing on it working for you!
