In an ideal world, you could create a Microsoft Word or Excel document on your desktop computer, put it on your Pocket PC, edit and format it on the road, and then send it back to the office as a .DOC or .XLS file, with content and all formatting still intact.

This is what Pocket PC users expect from their mobile computers.

Unfortunately, this is not how it works right now. Word Mobile, the "word processor" shipping with all Pocket PCs, is perhaps the biggest disappointment for mobile users: No headers or footers. No tables. No outliner. No on-the-fly spell-checking. Severely limited text formatting. Image support? Barely existent.

What about document conversion then? As soon as you move a .DOC file to your mobile device, all features that Word Mobile cannot deal with are stripped and thrown away. Not much more than bold, italic, and a few font variations survive...

Excel Mobile doesn't fare much better: It supports just a quarter of the mathematical functions of Microsoft Excel and silently drops the rest when opening an Excel file. Carefully designed charts are reduced to pre-school drawings or thrown away completely. Would it then surprise you at all that Excel Mobile does not support any drawing functions, AutoShapes or cell comments?

Now there is an alternative: In contrast to this "toy office", SoftMaker Office 2006 offers the full feature set of a modern office suite:

install the trial version on ur ppc, then copy both EXE files from the program folder on ur PPC to the folder ur PC containing the unipatch, patch both files & copy them back to ur ppc replacing original EXE files.

Note: the trial NAG window will continue to appear but this software will never expire :)

i was trying to get the "no nags" version, but apparently, sendspace does not support free downloading in my country...huhuhu!:idea:

I managed to download the free-nag version.. i also have the same problem downloading from sendspace but you have to be patient waiting until the download space open for you..it's rock..

Silly question, if while tidying up and re-doing your ppc (mine's a JasJar) I have installed the trial version more than 5 times, and it won't let me install again!

When I apply the patch for text maker, an error message appears saying that TextMaker_jp.dwr not found or not available.... PlanMaker works ok.
Anybody has TextMaker_jp.dwr?

same here. Only when I open Textmaker does the message about a file missing appear. Planmaker works fine. I am also using WM5.

did anyone notice that after 7 days the save command doesn't work?
I have the first patch and it work's fine except the save function.
it says that after 7 days trial the save is disabled. I have patched the program.

Hello, the patch works partly in that it shows me i now have 16million days of trial, but the program stops there and does not open up. If i prss the 'continue' button, I am returned to my today screen. Any ideas??? Thanx :axe:
