Hi there, I just want to know that is there any way to change the IMEI Number of BB5 phones like Nokia 6681..coz my Nokia 6681 has been stolen and I am really afraid that if someone will change the IMEI of my phone then it wont be traced by local police...or you people please guide me to trace my phone..

Its not possible to change the IMEI number. Every phone has their own IMEI number.

You can change the IMEI and assign it a new one - it envolves opening the phone up, removing the old eeprom (commonly refered to as the UEM), buying a new one, reprogramming it with a new IMEI, and soldering it back into the phone.... but all this for a 6681? not worth it. No way to get your phone back mate, the thief prob sold it already to someone at some market for next to nothing. Forget abt it, its gone.
Next time install Guardian or similar app into your phone to give the thief a bit of a hard time ;)

I did that...and just waiting to recieve a kind of message it sends to the owner, but i think they already hard format my phone...so I already forget about it to get the phone back...by the way thanks to all ...who answered my question.... but isnt it possible that he sold it to someone and when that person use it without changing the IMEI ...i will catch it through the IMSI number of his SIM coz I already made the FIR to the local police station...
take care...waiting for the quick reply...

Well thanks a lot for all the members .... A good news...I had installed Guardian 2.0 beta in my mobile, and finally yesterday I got a response from that software....it sent me two SIM numbers and now the thief is not far from me...he is within my reach now...I would like to thanks the creator of Guardian from this forum...and also will send a mail to him personally to say thanks to him, coz just because of his software, I will be getting my phone back...
thanks a lot to all of you once again...take care
